Weight Watchers - New Thread

Can't seem to find a recent WW thread so thought I'd start a new one.

I started 30th July at 11stone 8.5 lb. At first weigh in (6th Aug) I had lost 2lb which took me to 11st 6.5lb - at 2nd weigh in (13th) I had lost 3 1/2 lb which has taken me down to 11st 3lb.
Target is 11st before hols (27th Aug) then 10st 6lb when I start again after hols.

How is everyone else doing ?

Only me then ?

Hi FoghornLeghorn, I restarted at WW last week and lost 2.5lbs at first weigh-in this week. Would like to shift about a stone, had tried slimmingworld briefly but couldn't get my head around the food-combining rules so have returned to the WW fold. Would be great to have some WW buddies.

FoghornLeghorn · 15/08/2007 12:02

Hi Laloop

I have tried so many diets but WW is defo the best - comes of slowly, stays off for good I find (unitl you go and put stone on in pregnany ).

WW definitely shifted the weight after dd and ds1, got back into shape in no time...don't know what has happened after ds2...he's 2.5 this month, and I'm still carrying an extra stone

ProfYaffle · 15/08/2007 12:13

Hello, I'm doing WW too. Not going to classes just using the old stuff I've got from my many, many daliances with WW .

I've lost 12lbs in the last 4 weeks still got a stone to go though. I'm still bfing dd2 and as I've just started weaning her have dropped down to 5 extra points instead of 10.

I know from bitter experience that this is the tough bit, once the novelty wears off and the cravings for cheese and onion pasties gets really strong ....

What are you guys having for your evenings meals? I could use some inspiration.

laloop · 15/08/2007 12:51

Hi ProfYaffle

Evening meals here when I'm on WW are usually something like veggie chilli or curry with brown rice. Also baked chicken breast with roasted veg and new pots/Stirfries with noodles/Half-fat sausages and mash/Ratouille and pasta. Are you doing the points plan or Core Plan?

Tonight dh is working late and if I can't be bothered cooking it'll be fishfingers, oven chips and beans for the dcs and me for dinner

Have a big pot of home-made veg soup simmering at the moment on the hob to have for lunch.

FoghornLeghorn · 15/08/2007 12:58

Hi Profyaffle,

I love my evening meals way too much so I'm finding it easier to change my eating habits more during the day and then be more lenient with my evening meals.
Tonight we have prawn & crabstick salad with new potatoes - last night we had pasta carbonara with ham, mushrooms, onions & garlic - tomorrow is lemon chicken with new potato's and veg. I tend to go without potato's with my dinner so I've got enough points for a snack after dinner, have got a very sweet tooth.

Well done on loosing so much

ProfYaffle · 15/08/2007 13:02

Thanks for the ideas. I'm doing points because I'm rubbish at portion sizes. I tried the Core Plan once and didn't lose anything Points works well for me so I'm sticking with it.

Tonight I'm making a veggie stew with butternut squash and kidney beans and currently have some low fat chips cooking in the oven for lunch. Fish fingers are fab on ww aren't they? I'm also learning to embrace soup this time round, i always think it's going to be a faff to cook but once I get down to it it's OK.

FoghornLeghorn · 16/08/2007 09:08

When are everyone's weigh in's ?

OP posts:
laloop · 16/08/2007 10:33

My weigh-in night is on a Monday, which means I have to be really good at the weekend as no time to salvage any points disasters

I have been finding it really difficult to stick to my 20 pts over the last couple of days. Went a couple of points over on Tues due to MIL bringing some choc (which is currently banned from our cupboards!) for dcs and a packet of rolos just sort of fell into my mouth [greedy cow emoticon]
Then yesterday I just had to have a couple of glasses of wine after one of those days with the dcs (rainy weather, stuck at home, dcs squabbling due to cabin fever...). Have been out for an hour long walk each evening in an attempt to balance the points out .

Have only had a cup of tea and glass of OJ so far today. Will make some toast or porridge soon. Haven't menu-planned for lunch or dinner yet, anyone got any ideas?

Celery · 16/08/2007 17:15

I've been doing WW since March and have lost 22lbs - there have been lots of weeks when I haven't lost anything, but I'm getting there eventually! Thanks to a bout of tonsillitis this week, I'm now only 3lbs away from goal of 9 stone 13 - only 3 lbs, but I really want to get there - if only so I can comfortably get into my new slightly tight size 12 jeans! The last few pounds are so hard to lose though - I've been trying for the the past couple of months!! Determined to do it before the start of school - so 2 and a half weeks to do it.

Currently desperately trying not to put back on the few pounds I lost through illness

laloop · 16/08/2007 19:38

Hi Celery, well done on the weight loss so far. Hopefully we can help keep up your motivation to shift those last 3 lbs!

FoghornLeghorn · 17/08/2007 07:41

Celery that is a brilliant weight loss, well done Know what you mean about determination, being 5ft 7 I always say 'I couldn't weight less than 10st 7lb, I'm too tall' but I've recently realised how ridiculous I was being and I can do it so I am going to try and get under 10st if I can.

Laloop - my weigh in is on a Monday too - I did that deliberately to try and maintain some control over the weeekends

OP posts:
Celery · 17/08/2007 07:46

The stupid thing is, even though I've gone from a size 18 to a size 12, I still feel a bit fat, which probably isn't really very healthy!

I love food and I love eating, so I could go lower if I deprived myself, but I need to be realistic, so I should be happy to be a size 12!

Good luck everyone. This is the first proper diet I've ever been on. I've had half hearted attempts to lose weight on my own before and failed, so I am a total WW convert - I love it. And I know it's always there if the weight starts to creep back on.

This is the lightest and smallest I've ever been in my adult life

laloop · 17/08/2007 13:43

How's everyone getting on today? I've been good so far but weekends are a danger zone for me so will have to keep up the willpower, easier said than done in my case...

FoghornLeghorn · 17/08/2007 15:50

Doing well - i've only had soup and bread for lunch.
I'm the same at weekends so have been stockpiling a few points just in case

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 17/08/2007 17:27

I fear this weekend will be a tricky one for me, my Mum and Dad are coming to stay which means lots of wine and lunches out, they're also babysitting on Saturday night and me and dh are going for a meal. As it's only the 2nd time this year we've been out I'm f*cked if I'm counting points! The tricky bit will be being good the rest of the time.

ProfYaffle · 17/08/2007 17:28

Sorry - forgot to say - Congratulations on the weight loss Celery!

Celery · 17/08/2007 17:51

Thanks for the congrats!

I actually find weekends easier, because I seem to have more time to plan, and we eat earlier in the day with the children at the weekend. If I have to wait for an evening meal, I get hungry at around 4.00pm and start to pick.

Summer hols have been a bit challenging though, with the kids at home all day. I've had more snacky treats in the cupboard, for them, and it's hard to resist!

I've had a bowl of special K for brekkie, a veg lasagne ready meal that needed using up for lunch, a fab ice lolly, lol, and I'm cooking a chicken curry from scratch - so I only have to point the chicken and rice. Not particularly healthy eh?!

Lilliput · 17/08/2007 19:00

I losy 26lbs last year on WW and it is only recently that my weight has crept up but only by about 5lbs. So, I decided to get back on the points this week much to the annoyance of dh. It was all going really well until I went with kids to play date and someone had brought some co-op 'truely irresistable' chocolate cakes. I felt stupid saying I was counting WW points again so I had 2! Anyway I made butterney squash soup for dinner and had 2 ryvita with it. I need to keep strong and not get into the mindset that I have spoilt it all now by having those cakes and may as well forget it.

ProfYaffle · 17/08/2007 20:42

That's my downfall too Lilliput. I'm going out for a meal and Saturday and won't be counting points for that meal, I'll count all day and save as many as I can towards it then start afresh on Sunday, it's so easy to think 'f*ck it' and not count for the whole weekend.

Lilliput · 17/08/2007 20:51

Of course I am bloody starving now.
Part of the problem in company is the shame of admitting I am 'dieting'. All my friends obviously know that I did WW and lost lots of weight they just don't get the fact that I care about the extra few pounds I have put back on. I've had comments like 'Don't get any thinner will you' or ' you don't need to lose weight'. Yeah, to them I probably don't because they remember what I was like when I was fat but to me it's important to not go back there. I'm 5'2 and weight 9st7 at the moment so not fat but not skinny.

Lilliput · 17/08/2007 20:53

I was 11st2 before anyone leaps on me for being on this thread.

ProfYaffle · 17/08/2007 21:01

I'm a similarish size I think, I'm slightly taller (5'3 or 4"ish), I was 11st 12lbs, am now 11st, want to get to my pre-pregnancy weight (also achieved on ww) of 10st. Funnily enough I'm happy to yammer on to anyone about dieting, aren't the majority of women on a diet at any given moment? You can't win really, I had all those comments last time I lost weight and the 'ooh you must be underweight by now surely?', umm, no actually I'm at the top end of normal for my height. Someone even asked me if I'd lost weight when I was 12 weeks pg with dd1! Better than saying 'yeah, you're a bit lardy, best get down the gym'!

Lilliput · 17/08/2007 21:04

All my friends are slim, size 8/10/12. So I was the 'fat friend' in our group of mothers, that was quite hard for me and the reason I went to WW in the first place. To top it off none of them have ever been fat either.
