Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

I'd like to join in please. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in July, which has given me the kick up the bum I needed to do something about my weight and diet. I've been low carbing for the 6 week summer holiday and have lost 1st 2.

Starting weight 15st 2.
Weight loss in August: 1st 2.
Target for September: 7lbs (or more of possible).

CalmConfident · 01/09/2019 09:04

Count me in! Peri-meno, injury so no running and a love of good &wine has seen my weight creep upwards. Was in denial, now on a mission Grin

Current weight. 67.5kg (down from 69)
Goal weight. 56kg
September goal..below 65kg

scubadive · 01/09/2019 09:17

I’d like to join please.

I weigh 13st 10, I’ve gained nearly 3 st in the last 2 years. DH left, working single mum, no time to exercise, comfort eating. Now really need to start losing. Feeling very unfit and lacking energy. Even basic household chores are so much more effort at this weight.

Target weight 11st (ultimate target 9st 10), would love to be 12 st by Xmas.

I have a sweet tooth and munch in the evenings which needs to stop. I’ve not come across the 16/8 fast will try this.

AiryFairyMum · 01/09/2019 09:26

Yes brilliant!

scubadive · 01/09/2019 09:26

@WoollyFoolly what time do you usually do the 8 part of the 16:8, trying to decide what might work best?

sueb57 · 01/09/2019 09:29

Hi I'm an older mam with grown up children but still a mam, hope it's OK for me to join?
At the moment I'm 69kg back in March I was 73.9kg so I've lost 1&1/2 stone but have come to a rut, so I'd love to be part of the team to encourage and support each other.😊

WoollyFoolly · 01/09/2019 09:38

@scubadive I aim to eat in the evening between 6pm and 7pm so run the 16 hours from whenever I finish my meal. No evening snacking, which I used to do a LOT! So I then don't eat in the morning until 10-11am, have a small snack (100-200 cals) then have lunch about 1pm.
Having said that, if I'm particularly hungry one day I do just eat breakfast - I try to work on the 80/20 rule and I figure breakfast once or twice a week won't hurt.

cricketmum84 · 01/09/2019 09:43

Morning lovely losers!

Welcome to all the new joiners you are all more than welcome to join :) and welcome back to the old-timers. Let's get ready to smash September!!

Weighed in at 19.12 this morning so I'm 1lb down already. I really find daily weighing keeps me a lot more accountable and I just love seeing my weight starting with a 1!!

Couple of pints of water and some strawberries for breakfast, then I think I'm going to go for the sizzling salmon salad at the pub later. Must avoid the big chocolate birthday cake!!

Have a lovely relaxing Sunday everyone!

@WoollyFoolly thanks Woolly will definitely try this, thanks for the breakfast ‘snack’ tip was wondering if you then crammed in 3 meals. Grin

JeSuisPrest · 01/09/2019 10:06

First timer here, but you look like a smashing supportive bunch, so what have I got to lose? (Fat hopefully).

Starting weight 13st something
Current weight 10st 7lb
Target weight 10 st 1lb

I've put on weight during the school holidays and will be glad to get back to a proper routine next week. Eating out too much, carb overloading on pasties and bread and far too much chocolate. I know why I've put it on at least. Unfortunately have a BBQ today but will be skipping the bread rolls and just having chicken and salad. I will be drinking though which I know is just empty calories but it will be my last blow out until Christmas 🤷‍♀️

How is it September already?!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 01/09/2019 10:23

Checking in for Sept and hoping I can be more focused than August as I only lost the grand total of 1lb, but as I was off work for 2.5 weeks I am actually quite chuffed that I managed to eat well, drink wine, enjoy ice creams etc and not gain!!

Starting weight today is 10st 9.2lbs. I really want to be under 10st but think that is going to be my Christmas target. I am going on holiday with DH and no kids on 27th Sept so my aim is to lose 5lbs by then.

Started well by getting up super early and going for a swim. It was blissful as I was in an outside pool by myself. I don't think I have ever been at the gym before 8 let alone before 7 so it was a first for me but really think this may be the way forward. Work is very full on and I am often knackered by the time I get home but I am secretly planning a big event next summer so really need to train.

Am also starting c25k this month with a group to help motivate me to not give up as I am a rubbish runner and didn't finish the last parkrun I tried!

Anyway good luck all, I think the return to normality with the holiday period being over will help lots of us Smile

Aurorie11 · 01/09/2019 10:28

Me as well!
I'm also posting on a message thread but it's a bit quieter there.

I lost 3 stone 3 years ago but have put all but about 7lbs back on. I lost some of the weigh earlier this year but got disheartened when I bought electronic scales that weighed me 5lbs more than existing scales.

Got lots of going on, work, issues with caring (elderly parents, one going into care & kids, one starting high school) affecting focus but weight has got to change.

Similar stats to @scubadive. I started last Monday 26th at 13.11. End target 9.4 (which means losing about a third of my weight Shock )

Weigh in day is Monday.
Day 1 was tricky with lots of stomach rumbling, day 2/3 sugar withdrawal low level headache. Good choices have been made with the exception of yesterday, breakfast and then BBQ/ time with friends, no alcohol but burger, hot dog, chocolate cake - but had a great time, still hopeful of a good loss this week. Trying to do 10,000 steps a day.

Will report back tomorrow

DrowsyDragon · 01/09/2019 10:40

First time here but been struggling with weight since went back to work . It keep creeping up.

So
Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 78.6 kg
Loss for August: 1.6
Target for September: 2kg

Sigh81 · 01/09/2019 11:03

I am joining, if I may. I hit 35 and find myself with an extra 3 kg, though comfort eating after a bereavement hasn't helped. Hopefully joining this thread will help me be a bit more conscious of what I eat and to eat healthily/exercise more.

Right, with that, I am off to a yoga class!

LooseAtTheSeams · 01/09/2019 11:14

Went running this morning! Came back a bit of a sweaty mess but pleased to weigh in at 70 kg. Am really hoping to lose 2 kg this month! Good luck everyone!
I tend to weigh myself almost every day just to make sure I stay on track but I don't stress if it goes up and down a bit - the main thing is that I've lost 8 kg so far this year and I'd love to be able to say I'd lost 10 kg by the start of October!
No snacks, lowish carbs and salad or soup at lunchtime are my main things. Trying to aim for 2 runs and a yoga session every week.

Wilson030980 · 01/09/2019 11:17

Hi would love to join this but starting wed as tuesday is birthday and my son wants cake lol so will do weigh ins then xx

CalmConfident · 01/09/2019 11:34

I do not have scales so once a week weigh in at the gym is my plan.

I am trying 16:8...day 1 in progress! 12.30 to start lunch...less than an hour to go! Distracting myself with podcasts and housework...

cricketmum84 · 01/09/2019 12:19

NSV - I've just pulled an old pair of jeans from my "these will fit me one day" drawer. Size 20 and they flipping fit!!! First time I've been able to get in size 20 jeans in about 2 years. To say I couldn't get into a 24 and would only wear leggings at the start of the heat I am really really happy!

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 01/09/2019 12:26

Start of the year lol not heat!!!

Is like to join you :)

Starting weight: 75.8.kg
Loss for August: went from 72.6 to 70.5.
Target for September: reach 67kg
Ultimate goal: 63.5kg.

SalrycLuxx · 01/09/2019 12:42

Well done cricket. I’ve had a similar experience with a pair of shorts I optimistically bought two years ago.

Millie2017 · 01/09/2019 12:43

Morning all, I’m joining. Stats so far:
June -2.7kg
July -1.9 kg
August +0.6kg
August gain was a result of not exercising enough and a few too many treats’.
I’d like to lose 2kg in September. Going to look at calorie counting and focus on healthy choices and exercise this month.
