Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

And I'm back Had a brief sojourn as had a lot on my plate (pun intended) and couldn't stretch to doing the fasting as well. Quite a bit of work stuff too so that makes it tricker. And I've been stupidly hormonal and ravenous.

I've been eating ok and continuing exercise with at least 2-3 dance lessons plus 2-3 hard yoga sessions a week, so quite active. Have been drinking wine in the evenings though.

Am at 62,5/33% this morning. Still aiming to shift those pesky 2k so will do 2 fasting/800 days this week and strictly no weekday wine.

Lots of good losses on here, but sorry to,hear of the crap that @Hopefully is going through. How's your DS/DD (not sure of the etiquette on that, sorry!) @cricketmum84 ?

LooseAtTheSeams · 16/09/2019 08:05

Cricketmum - that sounds good! Mine is less wine, more running! Seem to have shed a pound so really determined to get rid of a couple more this week.
B:Oats with almond yoghurt
L Salad with some Quorn slices.
D: vegan burger.

cricketmum84 · 16/09/2019 08:14

@lightlypoached I'll be honest I don't know the etiquette either!! I think we are steadily fumbling our way through. Thank you for asking :)

He seems a lot more settled, far fewer outbursts of anger and frustration. School have been great, I'm still saying it's too early to change his name officially but they have changed his preferred name and informed all of his teachers. They have also given him a private space to change for P.E As he's been facing some negative comments from some of the other boys and didn't feel right changing in the communal boys area. He went to school every day last week for the first time in over a year.

He says he isn't ready to tell wider family which makes it hard, I'm getting used to using his female name and female pronouns at home (which is harder than you would imagine) but then switching back to Male name when we are with family. I am gonna trip up at some point!!

Ouch @Tanaqui that sounds painful!

Weight was up this morning 🙄 Need to remember that fluctuations are normal and just keep on keeping on...

Thanks for the Monday motivation @cricketmum84

Hopefully · 16/09/2019 10:03

Weighed in at 67.5kg this morning (0.3kg down since the 1st), so I've managed to shed the bloat after Saturday's enormous lunch. I've got my food planned out and made for today - blueberries and yoghurt for breakfast (already eating - fasting fail!), chicken and bacon salad for lunch and tuna salad for dinner. Trying to major on protein as that helps me so much with the raging hunger.

Determined to have four good days before Thursday so I feel on top form for my friend's birthday on Thursday. I know that as long as I stay away from going carb crazy and start my fast early each day I can be down well below 67kg by Thursday. It might be partly water weight, but it all helps. I really want to see the back of ever weighing in over 67kg this month, even if that's all I achieve.

Hopefully · 16/09/2019 10:05

And thank you for all the kind words! We're in the south west, so not so much competition for grammar places, but still fairly hot, with some mega tutoring bills along my friends!

There is SO much going on in my life right now. It would be incredibly easy to fall into a tub of ice cream and forget about it all, but I know how much more in control and positive I feel when I'm fit and strong and slim vs when I eat my emotions

bluebeck · 16/09/2019 10:09

Thanks for the enthusiastic start to the week cricket - you sound like you are doing a great parenting job. If you explain to DS/DD that you are bound to fail with the names/pronouns at some point, but for him to be assured it is accidental and over time you will make fewer and fewer mistakes I am sure they will see it's unavoidable. If they had to suddenly refer to you as dad instead of mum would be a good example.....

I am down to 11:6:4 today so have lost most of my binge weight but not at my lowest weight this month of 11:5. Next three days I know I can be regimented as am working in London to a strict timetable which makes it easier to get into the groove if you know what I mean.

Am out Friday night for the start of my Birthday Week ( I usually have a birthday month so have already scaled back massively Grin) but will try not to go too mad.

Have a good day losers!!

Jeds55 · 16/09/2019 10:31

Good morning all!
Was doing so well until Friday just after dinner and then started a binge that lasted all weekend. So annoyed at myself.
Weighed this morning at 11st 4.4 so 2.2 lbs heavier than last MonConfused hoping some of it is period bloat but lying to myself as period nearly finished. Determined to get back onto it.
Plan on starting back running today at lunchtime, haven't been for months so will start slow and build up.
Have a good Monday all

cricketmum84 · 16/09/2019 10:31

Ah thanks @bluebeck we are trying our best but it's such a minefield!

Obviously we love him:her regardless of what she identifies as. And we always will.

But getting your head round the correct terminology, pronouns, using a different name etc when you gave birth to a boy and named him and used that name for 15 years is just brain melting.

Morning Losers!

Here I am, starting as I mean to go on and Posting Every Day.

Good tip upthread about the zero app: have downloaded; thank you.

cricket I'm glad your ds/dd feels more settled; I can only imagine how stressful it must have been for you all!

Thanks for Hopefully

PaulHollywoodsSexGut don't leave us!

I've walked the dog this morning, & had breakfast at 10.

As long as I finish eating by six I'll be grand.

Have meal-planned, but haven't actually checked it yet.

Have a great day everyone!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 16/09/2019 22:17

Good day today, that’s all I’m sayin’ Wink

Lol! Glad things are going as well as possible with ds/dd.

Yay for a good day Paul!

I managed to eat between 10 and 5 yesterday (stopping before my evening class), but do feel tired now. Won't manage an 8 hour window today as going to gym tonight and will eat afterwards. 9.13.1 this morning - knew yesterday was a good blip! - but v happy to still be under 10. Helped me stay motivated yesterday too!

cricketmum84 · 17/09/2019 06:35

Morning all!

19.6 today so another 2lbs off, 7lbs for this month already and 5st 10 in total! Getting closer to that 6 stone mark. I seem to be in the zone and having a serious whoosh at the moment! I've noticed that this is something my body does when losing weight, I get a week or so of fast loss then usually a few weeks of plateau. I just need to learn not to lose heart on the plateau weeks!

I'm finding 16:8 really easy to follow. Not sure who mentioned it previously but it does fit in really well with my normal eating pattern. All I'm doing is cutting out a mid morning snack and any rubbish on an evening.

Today's plan is:
B - water and green tea
L (1pm) - leftover quorn and veg stir fry from last night
D (8pm) - jackfruit chilli and a few tortilla chips on the side

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone! X

This. I am cautiously in agreement. Typically if I can get to 8:00 I’m fine until 12. Seeing the kids eat their fruit, yoghurt, cereal in front of me hurts my soul but the hunger evaporates soon after meaning i usually eat between 11 and 7.

Perfect.

HollyTheHarrier · 17/09/2019 06:51

Well done @Tanaqui and @cricketmum84 sounds like you are both doing really well. I was down again today to 60.1kg which is only 0.1kg above my September low point. Hope I can get below 60kg by the end of the week! Unfortunately the rest of this week will be tricky as I’m away for work followed by a family do on Friday. Hope everyone has good healthy days

lightlypoached · 17/09/2019 07:48

Morning losers.

Did a 16:8 750 calorie day yesterday with 2 hours of ballroom dancing thrown in. 12k steps all in. And a full days work too.

At 61.7 this morning but am carrying ,ahem, a few grams as fasting seems to make me constipated. TMI, sorry.

Another fast day today with hard, sweaty yoga later on. But not many steps today.

Agree that 16:8 is the way to go. It also makes me relish my poached egg breakfasts on non fast days. Tennis

@cricketmum84 fantastic losses. Almost 6 stones is just wowza.

Have a lean, mean day everyone

LooseAtTheSeams · 17/09/2019 08:26

Cricket that's so impressive! Glad to hear things are going better with dc - I'm sure your support makes a huge difference.
Today's delights:
B tofu scramble
L couscous salad
D: might be veg chilli - not sure yet!

FLOrenze · 17/09/2019 08:35

These are really impressive. I agree about the plateaus. A win for me is if I have not gained, so I don’t mind 3 or 4 days of same weight. The weight went on day by day over years so I think it is an achievement to stop that.

FLOrenze · 17/09/2019 08:39

Weight gain is a bit like a car going along at a steady speed. If you put on the brake you won’t go into reverse immediately. So step 1 is to stop gaining, step 2 is maintaining the nil gain and step three is when the losing starts. Our bodies will try to fight us to maintain weight and we have to re-educate our system to accept the fewer calories.

Hopefully · 17/09/2019 09:02

Weighed in at 67.7kg this morning. Which is only 0.1kg below my September 1st weight BUT it is the first time I have weighed in below 67.8kg for two days in a row for the entire month. I'm also fairly sure my muscles are retaining water from a fairly intensive yoga session yesterday, so with a bit of luck I'll start seeing some genuine losses.

It's DS1's birthday today so we had pancakes for breakfast - I've already consumed 800 calories today! I'll have a couple of eggs and cherry tomatoes for lunch though, and I'll resist dinner easily because DS has requested macaroni cheese, which I'm not wildly keen on. Resisting ice cream sundae for pudding might take slightly more willpower! I'll try to eat lunch as late as possible so I'm not hungry at dinner time. I did run 4.5km this morning so at least I've burned some off, and I have time for a decent walk today too.

lightlypoached · 17/09/2019 12:01

After a 17 hour fast is there anything better then boily eggs with marmite bread and butter?

Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!!
cricketmum84 · 17/09/2019 12:04

@lightlypoached ooh I do love marmite! It was my craving when pregnant with DD. Especially with chocolate fingers 😂😂

Back from my weekend away! Weighed this morning and had put a pound back on which seems to have let me off very lightly to be honest. And this morning been so busy at work I've not even had chance to go to the loo let alone eat anything so back on it with a vengeance!
