Hi All,

I know I've been 'missing in action' but the damn 'puter decided to play up over the weekend and yesterday was 'Family day' (designated by dd!!!) We had a trip to the science museum and my poor feet are killing me

Can't wait to meet you all on 17th, I'll email you for directions in a moment Jackieno! I can bring my world reknowned coleslaw if any one fancies it.....its a bit calorie laden though as it uses mayo (only Helmans will do) and double cream for the sauce!

Thankyou for offering a loan of your LO Kew, I'd be honoured as he's such a cutie! I definately won't have dd with me as she will be on IOW with grandma!

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 11:01

grief LMS - I lurrve coleslaw almost as much as I love cake (can you get coleslaw cake?)

rebel - not much inspiration here today only slobbering...

rebelmum1 · 07/08/2007 11:19

I know I keep thinking about that corgette cake..

WigWamBam · 07/08/2007 13:15

Stuff the courgette cake; nothing but chocolate will do

But if you really must have a courgette cake, Nigella Lawson's recipe is rather nice.

FLORA?S FAMOUS COURGETTE CAKE

Cake:
180g golden raisins
750g courgettes
6 large eggs
375 ml vegetable oil
450g caster sugar
675g self-raising flour
¾ tsp bicarbonate of soda
¾ tsp baking powder

Soak raisins for a couple of hours. Wipe courgettes and grate without peeling. Sieve to remove excess water.

Cream oil and sugar and add eggs one at a time. Add flour, bicarbonate, baking powder and beat. Stir in the courgette & raisins.

Pour the mixture into two sandwich tins and bake Gas mark 4, C180Ëš, F350Ëš for 30 minutes.

Filling: Lime curd: Makes 350 ml jar

75g unsalted butter
3 large eggs
75g caster sugar
125ml lime juice (approx. 4)
Zest of limes

Melt the butter in heavy-based saucepan, add all other ingredients & whisk to a custard over gentle heat. Let cool before filling jar, or cake. Keep in the fridge.

Icing: for one cake:

200g cream cheese
100g icing sugar
Juice of 1 lime
zest of l lime to decorate
2-3 tbsp chopped pistachio nuts, optional.

Beat the cheese until smooth; add the sugar, then the lime juice to taste.

yummmmmmm! That sounds good! I might even be converted to Cor-Jets!

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 14:16

That may have been the one I was thinking of, WWB - does look nice, but I suspect life's too short to make lime curd.

I'm knackered, as we have now been swimming too. I may have overdone it. Chiropractor this afternoon (just the regular visit - not because I've hurt anything, thank goodness).

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 14:36

Littlemisssensible and Littlefish - I've emailed you both directions, and am about to do them for WWB and Kewcumber.

TigerFeet, will you email me too, please, jackieno at hotmail dot co dot uk, then I can send them to you too.

TigerFeet · 07/08/2007 15:10

Have emailed you JackieNo

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:21

[excited emoticon]

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:21

I've emailed you back, TigerFeet.

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:29

Jackie - Multimap tells me to cut through Henly but wouldn;t it be quicker though longer to stay on M4 and pick up A34, which way would you come to west london?

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:32

TBH, I'd leave it to DH. But I think if the M4 is behaving itself, it's probably more straightforward to come that way, then up the A34, yes.

WigWamBam · 07/08/2007 15:33

Got the email, thanks Jackie. Told dd last night and she's very excited about meeting your dd.

As for me, my knees are knocking ... you can probably hear them from there!

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:37

thought it as castinets from teh local spanish restaurants I could hear

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:41

Please don't be frightened, WWB - this is probably the least intimidating meet-up we could all go to. We all know each other pretty well by now, including having a fair idea of how people look, I think, from things we've all said at various times.

I'm supposed to be going to an Oxford meet-up at the end of August, and I'm sure I'm going to be the oldest person there.

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:43

no no no WWb don't listen to jackie - be afriad be very afriad

JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:44

pmsl (but in a friendly way, Kew)

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:46

I'm sure there are older people than you in Oxford jackie!

WigWamBam · 07/08/2007 15:48

You're not that old, Jackie. You're younger than me anyway ... although that doesn't say mych

OP posts:
JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:49

Oh yes, but they aren't going to the meet-up (though it is at a garden centre, so maybe I can just blend in with the OAPs if the MNers all look too young, iykwim)

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:49
JackieNo · 07/08/2007 15:50

Blimey - that made me jump, Kew. I know it was addressed to WWB, but maybe I have a guilty conscience or something.

Kewcumber · 07/08/2007 15:51

oh bugger Jackie you're younger than me too.

WigWamBam · 07/08/2007 15:51

pmsl - jackie, what are you doing to jump like that?
