Oh yes, you're definitely glamorous, Littlefish. Don't have any worries on that front.

Can I just say: white water rafting . You're a braver woman than me .

WigWamBam · 05/08/2007 19:02

I'm not coming if you're all glamorous!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 05/08/2007 19:04

I'm not glamorous - though I will be slightly less grey by then - having my (startlingly) grey roots sorted out next week. I'll still be a wire-haired frizzy person, though.

WigWamBam · 05/08/2007 19:05

The hair on my head is OK.

It's the stuff on my face that needs dealing with!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 05/08/2007 19:10

Ah sod it, WWB - we don't care what you look like: we love you anyway . For your mind, you know (as it's the only bit of you we've experienced so far).

JackieNo · 05/08/2007 19:13

And if it makes you feel any better, I've been wondering if you lot might be my mother, because I'm getting the sort of spots I only usually get when I'm about to see her (as she's the only person who would dare to comment on them).

WigWamBam · 05/08/2007 19:20

I can assure you I'm not your mother.

Unless you're 6 years old and having a tantrum at the moment because you don't want to go to bed?

You love me for my mind ... it's a long while since I've heard that one

OP posts:
JackieNo · 05/08/2007 19:24

I might be about to have a tantrum because the DCs don't want to go to bed, but no, I'm definitely not 6 any more.

WigWamBam · 05/08/2007 19:27

I just did have a tantrum

Dh and dd are at each other's throats again, dd flat out on the bed screaming and refusing to do anything at all, dh standing in the doorway yelling and shouting ...

so I stamp up the stairs, throw my weight around, they both sulk and then after i stamp back off again they're as thick as thieves, united in their hatred of me

I hate being a referee and always ending up being the villain.

OP posts:
Littlefish · 05/08/2007 19:38

You lot are so absolutely lovely.

Kewcumber, it's a really boring household thing that needs to be done, so I just need to change the appointment and then I'm all yours.

The choice of activities on offer for this wedding is: WAIT FOR IT!

White water rafting
Mountain biking
Horse Riding
Walking up a great big mountain for fun

The meal on the Saturday night is half way up the mountain, so I might start of looking vaguely presentable, but by the time I get there I'll look like a sweaty pumpkin!

Most of the people who are going are absolutely lovely, but there is one person in particular who has been quite snide about me and my weight (within my hearing, although she didn't know it), so I'm feeling quite anxious.

Thank goodness I will be seeing you all before I go.

Littlefish · 05/08/2007 19:38

Oh, just a thought, WWB can I pick you up from anywhere on the way? I'll e-mail you.

TigerFeet · 05/08/2007 19:41

Fri 17th... can I come? Along with 3yo dd?

WWB I can bring as much houmous as you want, I work for a company that makes it

JackieNo · 05/08/2007 20:21

TigerFeet - yes, definitely, would be lovely to see you and your DD too.

So we have:

Me (DD, 7, and DS, 3)
Kewcumber (DS, 1)
WWB (DD, 6)
Littlefish (DD, erm, would she be 2 now?)
Littlemisssensible
TigerFeet (DD, 3).

Fab. Littlefish, littlemisssensible and TigerFeet, if you could email me on jackieno at hotmail dot co dot uk, I'll email you directions etc.

JackieNo · 05/08/2007 20:24

WWB - there's no way of getting out of the guilt, is there. And feeling as if you're the villain definitely sucks.

Littlefish - that's one scary list of activities. I think the last bike I owned had stabilisers on it. Mountain walk definitely the least of the evils, and, as you say, essential for getting to the meal. Can you arrange to get there early, so you can get yourself together? (bet it's a big group walk though, isn't it).

Kewcumber · 05/08/2007 20:55

Bollocks to all of it Littlefish - take to your bed for an afternoon of sex with DH and get a taxi to dinner in the evning looking radiant.

Littlefish · 05/08/2007 22:29

Sounds wonderful Kewcumber, but I think dd might have other ideas

Littlefish · 06/08/2007 10:28

Right, 'tis done. Dd and I are all yours for the day. What are the arrangements. What time are we arriving/leaving etc.

Really looking forward to seeing you all again, and meeting littlemisssensible. (too many sssss in there I think!) and Tigerfeet.

Kewcumber · 06/08/2007 11:33

I shall be aiming for sometime between 10.30 and 11am as a start and leave after lunch.

JackieNo · 06/08/2007 13:58

Yes - arrive any time after 10.30, and leave, well, whenever, really - after lunch if that suits, or later, if people fancy staying on into the afternoon. If the weather's nice, we could go for a bit of a walk in the fields behind the house, or go in the (woefully under-equipped) garden. Happy to go with the flow and see how it all develops.

MamaG · 06/08/2007 15:15

Hello MoFos!

Yes, I'm back and I'm still a fatty

Weight creeping up again and I've decided enough is enough!

Mum is getting married on Saturday - got a lovely dress, wondering if there is a way to lose a few lbs before Sat (I know) - I'd even consider a "half a tin of tuna, dollop of custard, 3 raisins and half a boiled egg 4 times a day" diet ... or maybe slimfast?

Just for a week! Or tell me to get real and stop being a knob, either is fine

THEN I'll do it properly

Kewcumber · 06/08/2007 15:51

MamaG - welcome back. Now [stern emoticon] you know as well as I do that you could live on lettuce all week until Saturday and you wouldn't look one bit different. Have a nice healthy week and do some exercise, concentrate on looking radiant rather then 2 inches thinner, people will notice it far more.

WigWamBam · 06/08/2007 16:42

MamaG, you know there are no quick fixes. Even if you did something like slimfast, you won't lose enough in five days to make any difference. Plus you'll be hungry so you'll be a miserably ratbag who no-one will want to be around! Which will spoil the wedding rather.

Best thing to do is to wear something you know looks great on you, blind them all with your dazzling smile and your sparkling personality, and have a lovely day.

OP posts:
rebelmum1 · 06/08/2007 16:52

I had a similar situation and just ate grapes (natural detox) and water for a few days - that and the support pants worked a treat i felt really well and healthy and digestion had a rest.

WigWamBam · 06/08/2007 16:56

We tend to look a bit at crash diets on this thread though, rebelmum!

The way I look at is is this. It's MamaG's mum who's getting married, and she knows what MamaG looks like and what size she is - and loves her just the same. Pretty sure she would rather MamaG wasn't starving herself for the wedding.

Plus everyone will be looking at the bride and completely ignoring everyone else, so no-one will be all that interested in whether MamaG looks half a centimetre thinner than she did last weel!

Weight loss is best done over the long term; crash diets (even only for a few days) are bad for the metabolism.

OP posts:
rebelmum1 · 06/08/2007 17:02

It's not really a crash diet a few days of fasting and cleansing your system is a very healthy thing to do.
