Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Whooooo!! 4lbs this week!! That’s definitely a catch up from last week. But I now want to reward myself with all the wine and biscuits Grin

keiratwiceknightly · 19/09/2019 06:50

I'm v pleased this morning as I've dropped from 11st11 to 11st8. I've not been trying super hard but I have been exercising and it's obviously making a difference 😊.

Probably need to work a bit harder on the eating from here on. I'd ultimately like to be under 11st - suspect I'll have to work quite hard for this as I've not been under 11st since I got pregnant with dd1 (she's nearly 17!)

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 20/09/2019 04:31

Well done everyone! Fantastic results!

No change here again, still where we started :/

We had a team photograph at work yesterday and I couldn't believe the size of me in it! I'm going to try really hard this week. Going to get started with some exercise as well.

Well done everyone!

Well done everyone. I'm weighing in the morning but not too hopeful as I've been a bit of a grazer this week.

DakotaFanny · 20/09/2019 22:40

Argh, I’m on self destruct mode. Make. Me. Get. Off. It. Please.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 21/09/2019 05:34

Jellybean I've signed up for Noom!

Looks good. It says I am going to be 65kg on 21st January. Grin

OP posts:
Isittheend · 21/09/2019 08:22

Last week 66.5kg
Today 67kg
Gutted!

I think I'm going to write down everything I eat this week.

VeniVidiVoxi · 21/09/2019 09:54

Not been around for a while with work trips and general life, but weighed in this morning and yesterday morning at 70.5kg and 70.8kg so I think that's roughly right. Down from 71.5kg at the end of August. The rate I'm losing might not be stellar but it doesn't feel like a chore.

I'm going to sound evangelical but I think no-s is great. I'm actually feeling a change in what I want to eat. I'm not craving snacks and I'm actually enjoying feeling properly hungry just before a meal. Healthy food tastes better when I'm really hungry. I thought avoiding sugar was going to be the hardest but because I can have something sweet at the weekend I'm just breaking my biscuit habit midweek and saving up for something special. The best part is that it feels sustainable. The snag is when I'm working away with less choice on meal times and healthy options but so far that's slowed me down rather than reversing my progress because I can stick to some things like not have dessert, or endless biscuits.

Rezie · 21/09/2019 10:06

83.4kg last week
83.0kg this week

I've eating a lot less strict this week and had candy and eaten out etc. So who knows what works Hmm

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 21/09/2019 11:58

So I downloaded this Noom thing that Jelly had mentioned and it has been quite interesting. Anything that I had thought was good (homous, oatcakes etc) all falls into the red category which is limited and I have been loading up on all this stuff.

I had gone over the red allowance by 10am this morning! That's not good! But v interesting!

It's going to take some getting used to but I think it's going to mean a complete overhaul for the way I eat (ate).

Rezie well done, a loss is a loss! And well done Veni!

We'll get there!

VeniVidiVoxi · 21/09/2019 17:09

Did you sign up to noom 2slices? It looks interesting but I'm terrible at loosing track of things and don't want to be stung the £79 fee!

KTD27 · 21/09/2019 17:22

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin oh that’s interesting! Is it colour coded? What’s green? I will be super interested to see what you think I don’t know anyone who has done it

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 22/09/2019 02:19

it seems to be very like the same principles of Weightwatchers, if you have ever done that. So things which are high fat/high calorie are 'red' and green veg/whole grain pasta etc are 'green'.

It's just difficult to get my head around as I've been in and out of trying Keto for the last couple of years so it's totally opposite (allowing pasta/bread etc). But, keto didnt' work for me, I think it only works for meat eaters, although I really believe in it - it just doesn't work that well if you are vegetarian as you end up eating loads of cheese and that just made me pile on weight.

This also forces you to log your weight every day which is what i need to keep focused.

I'm on the 2 week free trial at the moment, I think they said it's 35 pounds a month ish (converting currency sorry) - but I don't mind paying if it works!

i feel like i have eaten a lot today... eek.
B: toast & marmalade
S: 2nd breakfast oatmeal & almond milk
L: carrot/butterbean soup & eggplant salad
D: lentil bolognese & pasta x 2 portions as it was so delicious.

gahhhh this is enough food for two days.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 22/09/2019 17:23

oh and one gin and one whiskey. eek.

KTD27 · 22/09/2019 19:34

The gin and whisky are v important food groups Grin
It will be interesting to see what you find. I’ve done Keto before and lost 5 stone. Of course have put it all on now. Tried it since and not been able to get anywhere with it at all. Also I think it’s all essentially about eating in a calorie deficit. I did well with it as a younger single girl who could spend her disposable income on lots of meat and suit herself. Now with two kids and a family budget I found it much much harder. Also couldn’t face giving up bread again.

Rezie · 22/09/2019 19:55

Hope the noom works for you @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin I've seen the adds and read about it. It seems like a good programme for people willing to commit to it. For my personally logging things daily and weighins makes be too "obsessed" and I would think about it too much. But I really hope it works!

It's been a nice cool day and cooked some sausage for dinner in the fire place. Yesterday was my friends birthday so I over ate and drank. Oh wellGrin

RubySlippers77 · 22/09/2019 22:58

I'm interested to hear about Noom too @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin! £35 does seem like a lot but like you say, if it works..... DP keeps making horrible comments about my weight (can't remember if I've said it here before but: HE WEIGHS 22 STONE!!!) but it just makes me less likely to discuss it with him or suggest we do anything together. Plus, he will waffle on and on about how pasta/ bread/ diet coke are the work of the devil, then go out and get plastered and have a kebab; I'm not really inclined to take his advice.....

I would agree with the keto diet @KTD27. Low carbing worked for me when I lived on my own and could eat what/ when/ where I wanted. It's much harder when you have a family to accommodate and they want to eat at Pizza Express/ MacDonalds!

wtf2015 · 22/09/2019 23:04

Me please... I'm a stone heavier than this time last year even though nothing has changed. I'm going to try intermittent fasting 16:8 and use the zero app to log the time. And try to have less wine in the week. Good luck everyone

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 23/09/2019 01:58

Welcome WTF! Are you going to do 16:8 every day? Good luck with your first day :)

Ruby, sorry re unhelpful comments, that's probably quite demotivating! We are here to cheer you on. :) Slowly and steadily is the way.

Rezie, your fireplace sausage sounds lovely and very autumny!

KT wow 5 stone on keto was amazing! I also think it's a great diet to cure ailments - it's so good for so many things like diabetes. But it's funny you should say that it didn't work the second time as I have heard a lot of people say that.

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 24/09/2019 11:12

Thank you 2Slices...... DP can be very annoying!! Plus he changes his mind about his latest food fad and expects me to just conjure up a delicious (for example) wheat free, dairy free dinner for him. I've been looking at getting a fold up treadmill as I'd like to do some exercise at home once the DC are in bed; I know MIL has an 'unfoldable' one that she uses as a clothes horse but not sure we have the room for one that big Sad

Had a good day yesterday, trying to keep going with the low carbing as I do think I have a mild wheat intolerance, and definitely feel better without it. When I eat wheat my nose is permanently blocked, feels like I have a terrible cold. I would claim that I have water retention too but I think it's actually cake retention Grin

KTD27 · 24/09/2019 14:05

@RubySlippers77 I’ve been doing a bit of exercise at home as can’t get to the gym with the hours DH works. So far so good I’ve used some Shona vertue kettlebell workouts and definitely feeling it.
Nearly on my period so over the last two days I’ve been ravenous. RAVENOUS. Just want all the biscuits and the crisps. Managing to keep away as much as possible but defo bloated and don’t think I’ll have lost a thing tomorrow.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 24/09/2019 15:06

Ruby that sounds tough and as though DP has some issues around food, which is a shame for both of you. Can he start just a sensible weightwatcher type plan without all the yo-yo-ing around? Your low carbing sounds like it is doing you good!

KT how are you doing the bells - are you watching a youtube vid etc? i keep looking at videos I would like to do like pilates etc but then just watching them while sitting on the couch. Grin

Noom is going well, I like it as it tells me when I have reached the limit. Yesterday I had 2 breakfasts and then a wrap and potato wedges for lunch at around 12pm (eek) so I thought I would be up this morning but I had still managed to lose a little bit because I didn't eat again after that. it told me I had reached my calorie limit so I am trying to stick to it! Today i have had nachos and cheese as well but I haven't entered it all in yet, think I will be way over today!! But that was at 3pm so hopefully again if I don't eat until tomorrow it will be ok.

Started about 75.5kg on Sat or Sun and it's now Tues and was 74.4 so a kg is not bad in those few days. The test is to keep going though!

OP posts:
KTD27 · 24/09/2019 18:56

2slices ooh that’s good that it tells you that you’ve reached your limit. I think I’d like that.

I have been following her (Shona vertue) on insta for ages. Just like her approach to health and fitness really. Anyway I took the plunge and joined her ‘vertue crew’ which is £39 and is essentially a 12 week fitness programme. But you get lifetime access to it. I just did it for the videos. She goes through the exercises with you and the routines are about 30 mins long. So far they’re great.
You can get heaps of free ones on the internet - that’s what I did before I joined but I liked the idea of having the extra ones too.
