Target: 2kgs per month off by Christmas (any method) - anyone?

Just for some moral support/egging on, anyone else joining me with a steady 2kg per month off until Christmas? By any method we like?!

I am going to start (this week) with generally trying to eat less cals a day, less carbs and also try Intermittent Fasting a couple of times a week. Not going mad with crazy diets, and not going to break my neck doing it but also just trying to eat less/move more, and lose a couple of dress sizes over the next few months.

Would anyone like to join me? :)

Hi @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin! it's basically an app that you track your weight and food on, but I liked it because it posts little articles and pointers every day about why we eat as we do and the psychological side of food. That helped me loads because I'm a proper boredom and emotional eater! There's also an online coach and an online group of people at the same stage of the diet to talk to - it's an american app so most of the other people on there are based all over America, very interesting.

'diet' wise, it's pretty similar to ww or slimming world - no bad foods, eat a balance of carbs/proteins/veg etc, nothing extreme.

keiratwiceknightly · 12/09/2019 20:41

Ooh I'd love the motivation of this please.

keiratwiceknightly · 12/09/2019 20:43

Posted too soon - sorry. Obviously more keen than I thought!

I need to get going with weight loss. Im working on fitness but at the very top of acceptable BMI and would look and feel so much better with a few kgs off. Oh and I'm 46 so it's increasingly hard to shift the weight

KTD27 · 13/09/2019 10:29

Welcome @keiratwiceknightly!

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 14/09/2019 07:20

welcome Keira!

well I've just done my shopping for the week ahead online. To look at it you would find a picture of low fat healthy meals Grin.

Am too scared to get on the scales. I'm targeting a 1kg loss per week now for one month to catch up with you all, so need to knuckle down this week.

@jelly thanks for all the info. It sounds like it works - is it like MFP but with some added motivational ideas/recipes/etc? Sounds good anyway and that it works for you. Are you going to go back on it?

Last time 83.3 kg
Today 83.4 kg
Fuck this. I know what's the problem. I've had too many situations where I drink alcohol. I need to think of a new drink that's less calories. I've seriously been surprisingly good with the diet. I'm torn between trying something new or sticking with the current one for 3 more weeks to actually see if it helps.

Isittheend · 14/09/2019 08:18

Last week 67.6kg
This week 66.5kg Smile

Happy with that! I did Zumba yesterday which I think helped.

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 14/09/2019 10:55

Rezie, I switched to Gin & Soda a couple of years ago, if you put some lime slices in it, it's fine. Takes a bit of getting used to but now prefer it. Then you've only got the calories from the gin, i think it's pretty much as low cal as you can get. It is really not that bad at all.

On the bright side, you've had all that drink and not put on anything so you must have done well otherwise! keep going!

OP posts:
Rezie · 14/09/2019 15:00

I've read now all the recipes for low cal drinks. Thankfully my fave, diet cubs libre is there. I don't actually drink that much, I've just happens to have a few birthday parties in a row since my fanily and friends are getting 0's to the end of their age. And I could just not drink or have 1 but if I'm eating fricking quark for lunch then I want to have a drink!

I think karma hit me today. I haven't had any candy or soda for 2 weeks. Went to the shop to buy a coke zero with my dinner today and when I got home my got the fell out (well the crown). I mean it has been a tooth that has been a problem for years and years but seriously. I think that was the world telling me to stay with the diet.

Rezie · 14/09/2019 15:01

Why isn't there an edit button. It's suppose to say that my tooth fell out (the crown).

RubySlippers77 · 16/09/2019 23:53

@Rezie I hope you can get your tooth sorted out soon?

I'm trying to stay away from alcohol as I know it's just empty calories - plus it does make me snack/ eat more - but oh, for a G&T or a glass of prosecco at the end of the week.....

Well done @Isittheend! I had quite a rubbish weekend with lots of carbs. Been very active today but did scoff a (small) pizza as I ran out of time to cook. Hoping to do some cooking tomorrow and have a couple of meals sorted out for the week Smile

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/09/2019 03:05

Really fed up!!! Another half kg gained!

yesterday:
B: overnight oats/almond milk/raspberries
L: huge salad with feta/eggs/fruit etc.
S: one tiny brownie
D: some potato salad, homous, kale and quinoa.

How does that add half kilo from the day before!!

Going without breakfast today. I'm at the end of my tether none of my clothes fit!

Rezie how's your tooth??

OP posts:
Rezie · 17/09/2019 08:13

They ripped out the rest of the tooth yesterday. On the bright side, the implant is so fricking expensive that I can only afford to eat porridge so dieting will be easier Grin

KTD27 · 17/09/2019 09:50

2slices there’s no way it does. It’s a scientific impossibility. I am clinging to that knowledge. Isn’t it 3500 cals to put on a pound? I bet it’s water retention. Drink a load today!
Weigh in for me tomorrow. Hmm

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/09/2019 14:42

B: half a pot of overnight oats/almond milk/raspberry: 200
L: slice of protein wrap, an avocado and 2 boiled eggs: 300 (?)
D: Apple, handful of nuts: 150 (?)

That's it! Not having anything else. 750 cals.

If I'm not lighter tomorrow there will be an international incident.
Rezie, that sounds like a nightmare! When are you doing the implant? Will this involve a mouth that is too sore to eat?!

KT - the force is with you for weigh in.

OP posts:
RubySlippers77 · 17/09/2019 15:28

@Rezie teeth are so expensive - and can be so painful, unfortunately!! I've had root canal treatment in two teeth next to each other and it still flares up occasionally. However because I've already had it done on the NHS, I'd have to pay around £500 for it to be re-done Shock Shock Shock I will put up with the pain as long as I can TBH.....

I don't think you can have put on that much weight 2Slices - could you weigh weekly rather than daily to get a bigger picture?

I had a terrible weekend frankly - lack of choice meant I ate chips instead of anything healthy Sad - and although I'm walking loads (18K steps yesterday) I'm not eating well enough. But, the fridge and freezer are stocked up with healthy ingredients, I just need to find the motivation to use them.....

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 17/09/2019 16:00

Thanks Ruby. If I see scales I have to get on them lol.

I've realised I vastly underestimate my calories! Just put today in MFP and it's actually about 1,000. Must stick to putting things in properly. Also I realised that on the previous day I had conveniently 'forgotten' I'd had at least half of DS's tex mex fries from burger king! So that must have been about another 300/400 calories.

Must start doing things properly!

Fridge full of healthy food sounds good Ruby, what's for dinner? :)

Rezie · 17/09/2019 18:34

@RubySlippers77 @2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin thank for worrying about my teeth! It cannot be done in months until the place where the tooth was extracted is healed. I'm shopping around for the best place to get the implant since I'm not eligible to have NHS do it. Seems to be around £2200 to get it done so I'm not very happy.

I had mash and moose for dinner. It was pretty nice. Also gym today and probably tomorrow. Hopefully going to get back on track with everything soon! Next week we have a fitness test at work where they take the body composition and all that jazz. Going to see how eye opening the results will be.

Also you should weight yourself less (like once a week max). Weigh can alter so much within a day so it will give false results. I totally understand wanting to check the scales. I didn't buy a scale until a year ago and I hate to take it to the storage to avoid weighing myself daily.

BogglesGoggles · 17/09/2019 18:38

Late to the boat but wanting to come aboard. I’m 69kg today - please berate me if I’m not 67 next month. Just ate half a bag of mash mallows before reading this though Blush

RubySlippers77 · 18/09/2019 00:01

@Rezie £2200???! Ouch Shock Shock

Agree with only weighing once a week - it does give you a better picture of weight loss than doing it every day. Having said that I cannot stop scoffing carbs so weighing weekly or daily would still have a depressing outcome!!

'Mash and moose'?! Grin

2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin · 18/09/2019 02:22

Welcome to the battle, Boggles!

Rezie could you go abroad to get it done, it may be cheaper?

OP posts:
Rezie · 18/09/2019 06:00

@RubySlippers77 mash and moose was nice with a basic sauce. Haven't had it in a while so it was a nice treat Grin

@2SlicesOfLimeInThatGin Yeah, i cpuld get it done €600-1000 in eastern Europe but I'm not really sure if it's worth it with all the traveling. There are also a few places around that have offers, but I'm guessing if the offer is too good to be true it is too good to be true. Many places have a free evaluation so I can shop around for a bit.

My brother gained some weight but he got all of it off in few week. I'm wondering is we really have the same genes Wink

DakotaFanny · 18/09/2019 07:27

I’ve put on 0.2lbs which doesn’t make any sense because I’ve been good all week. Gggrrrr.

KTD27 · 18/09/2019 17:58

@Rezie I thought it was a typo!! Didn’t realise it was actual moose Grin
