Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Hello all, posting from holiday in France.

Congrats on losses and engagements!

Lots of cheese and wine going on but I'm enjoying myself. Was hoping to do daily yoga but my knee is worse so only managed one session so far Sad

But did I mention the cheese to compensate?Grin

Oh and just look at my mosquito bites. They love me, even when slathered in repellant. I hate mosquitoes, the little bastards.

The rest of the holiday is lovely though Smile

No weigh in until I get back

Congratulations everbloom! Very lovely photo!
Have had
D strawberries and yoghurt for breakfast and gone for a run. Not sure if these will undo pizza damage!

Congratulations @everbloom what a gorgeous ring!!!

Still feeling nice and motivated today and my recovery run last night has helped my achey muscles. I'm meeting a friend for lunch so will try and keep within a reasonable limit

B: Alpen with semi skim milk
L: most likely a toasted sandwich
D: Tuna salad with salad cream plus carrot sticks and Hummus
Snacks: Latte, chocolate maybe a banana depending on how filling lunch is

Tough to call as no idea what lunch is but hoping I'll be around 1500 or 1600 for the day. I think it's so much harder to regulate diet during summer.

cricketmum84 · 06/08/2019 11:11

@lightlypoached yup they loved me too. I had 2 bands on, sprayed with jungle formula and skin so soft and I still got eaten alive. 2 were so bad that they came up in huge water blisters.

Apparently they hate garlic so try eating lots of it :)

Aargh! Sorry for repeat posts - MN kept saying retry!

Daisychainsgetbroken · 06/08/2019 11:57

I've had fruit for breakfast. And just having soup for lunch. So going well so far. Evenings are always my issue though!

BraveGoldie · 06/08/2019 12:09

Morning all 170lbs this morning so down 3lbs in three days, but know this us just water retention etc..... still feel better for it though!

The next 3lbs will be way harder - May well take me a month from past experience- if I can keep my will up...

Of for a low carb lunch now..

PeriComoToes · 06/08/2019 12:46

Fucking hell, can someone give me a kick up the arse please? After my super boozy calorie laden weekend I met up with some old friends yesterday for a late lunch. Was planning on just having a few white wine spritzers with my meal. That worked for about an hour and then we went totally MENTAL and I rolled in at at 10pm having had about 2 bottles. WTF. It WAS a great evening but I really need to reign it in.

My head still hurts. 🤪

Millie2017 · 06/08/2019 12:53

@PeriComoToes sounds like one hell of a night!
I don’t know what’s up with me today. Was late leaving the house, packed snacks for the kids but no fruit for me. After our playgroup I stopped by Costa and got a large mocha. Googled the calories when I got home... 400. In a drink. That’s more then I usually have for lunch. Not sure what to do now. Whether to skip lunch and just have my usual fruit. To make matters worse we are having a dinner play date and I’m not sure of the Mum is making adults food. I’m guessing not? I’ve packed some fruit to take for everyone, but I don’t want fish fingers chips and beans 😂
Anyho, hope everyone else is making good choices today! Will report back tonight.

Ionacat · 06/08/2019 13:27

Congratulations @everbloom - gorgeous ring.
@PeriComoToes sounds like a great night and hope your head is beginning to recover.

I haven’t lost anything so far despite sticking to my calorie limit and upping the exercise. Usually by now I would have reached for the chocolate in disgust, but I haven’t so far. (I have a box of Thortons in the cupboard and discovering the calorific value of each chocolate is more than a 7 minute HiiT workout is a little off putting!) I’m certainly fitter as I did my fastest run in a while last night, so holding on to that and hopefully there will be a loss when my body gets used to what is going on.
B was porridge and berries
L brown rice, roasted vegetables and halloumi
D not sure likely to be something out of the freezer e.g. vegetable tagine or veggie chilli with more vegetables and sweet potato wedges.

About to walk into town with the kids and may go swimming later if DH is back in time.

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/08/2019 13:53

PeriComo sometimes it's worth having a day off - you can just reset and start again from tomorrow!
I have had a piece of cake and a packet of crisps today so definitely need to start afresh...

Tanaqui · 06/08/2019 16:15

Congratulations Everbloom!

Holly, if it is hot where you are and you heve been exercising a lot, could you be retaining water?

I finally got back to my scales, and they had a battery malfunction - so I am either 10st10 or 10st4! Hoping for the latter but feel like the former. Havet't been over 10st for ages, but something went wrong around January and I've been going up ever since. Still, have walked 16km today! Am doing 16:8 and trying to keep calories around 1200, so fingers crossed things will move soon.

Cricket, I found the 30 days meme really helpful, thank you.

cricketmum84 · 06/08/2019 18:20

I am SOOOOOOOO hungry.

Just sayin 😂

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 06/08/2019 19:12

I went on an absolute bender this afternoon

One Milky Way
One bag Cadbury buttons
2 x small bars of dairy milk

Now I’m tired and literally sick and I was all set to go swimming tonight.

I am a fool.

Daisychainsgetbroken · 06/08/2019 19:37

paul that's not THAT much. Especially if not large share bag.

I made a scrambled egg thing for dinner with a whole red onion, whole pack of mushrooms and half a red pepper. Plan was to bulk the meal out with those things.

Horrible heavy rain all day here so hardly done any walking. Had hoped it would lessen a bit and I could go for an evening stroll.

3dogs2cats · 06/08/2019 19:55

Congrats to everyone for losses and engagement. North Devon is so fucking hilly. Sure that I will get home on Friday to a massive loss. Got caught in a huge rainstorm today. Got back to the car park and stripped down to underwear. Just had to have tea and crumpets when we got in.
Somehow it makes me really happy though.

everbloom · 06/08/2019 20:34

Thanks so much for all your kind messages!!

Today has been okayyyy- I stuck to my fast, had a salad for lunch and scrambled eggs and avocado for dinner. However, my fiancée (eeek) brought home a bottle of champagne his boss had given him... so we popped it open.... oops!

Just slightly outside of my calories though and met my step target.

Hope you all had a great Tuesday Smile x

Millie2017 · 06/08/2019 21:19

Closing the kitchen. Skipped lunch after the horror of realising a mocha had 400 calories. In hindsight I should have just had something small. I did have some fruit.
Anyway, I had some smoked salmon, an egg and a slice of toast for dinner. I also had a packet of french fries (79 calories) as a snack.
No exercise.
Weighing in tomorrow morning. I’m hopeful for a loss.

Ihatesundays · 06/08/2019 22:03

A bad 2 days. Didn’t feel well yesterday and today DD would not leave me alone, not been able to work out as I have been mistaken for a chair.
No weight loss. Struggling with the 16:8 thing, hungry all the time.

cricketmum84 · 06/08/2019 22:09

Kitchen is closed! Stuck to my food plan except for 2 tablespoons of grated cheese with my dinner and a peach this evening when DH cracked open the chocolate sandwich biscuits!

Was craving an iced coffee this afternoon but I resisted.

@Ihatesundays Don't be disheartened lovely. Dieting is so hard when you don't feel well and especially when you have demanding little ones too.

@Tanaqui I don’t know to be honest - how does water retention work? I don’t think it’s particularly hot here (Midlands). How do I unretain water? 😂

@3dogs2cats I love the feeling of getting in after a soggy walk. Tea and crumpets sounds perfect 👌

Medium day: yoghurt and granola for breakfast, ham and egg sandwich for lunch, lentil Dhal and aubergine and pita bread for dinner. Snacks were a banana, a satsuma, two peaches and two mini brownie bites (work had sooo many cakes). Too many snacks now I look at it! Came in at 1,400 calories but ran 3 miles so still ok.

HollyTheHarrier · 06/08/2019 22:30

@cricketmum84 snap on going for a peach to avoid biscuits! Definitely a better choice
