Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Good day here food wise.
B 40g bran flakes
L Lentil soup and salted popcorn
D Chickpea and cauliflower curry with boiled rice
S Apple, Options hot choc

Excluding dinner i had under 600 cals and I am estimating dinner to be no more than 500. No exercise as didn't leave work until 7.30pm!!

@DaisyChainsGetBroken after not completing pr on Sat I did look at the results (to get DDs for her) and looked at how many people there were who took 40+ mins. One issue was that one of my DCs teachers who I kind of know outside of school too was volunteering and I didn't want to run past them twice right at the back Blush

Millie2017 · 07/08/2019 06:32

Morning all. Weighed in 1.3kg off.
I should feel pleased but I feel rotten. I hardly slept at all and all o can think of to blame was that massive mocha.
I’m going to go caffeine free for a few days and review my plans as I’m just feeling so awful this morning.
Provisional plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham rolls
D. Sausage and pasta
Snacks. Fruit
Exercise. Swim
Hope everyone has a good day.

OhTheRoses · 07/08/2019 06:36

Ha Millie I'm a 1/4lb down on yesterday and thrilled!

Tanaqui · 07/08/2019 06:37

10st3.7 this morning ,but I might swap to kilos! I had almost the exact same dinner as Daisy- onion, red pepper, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach, which I usually have with egg but had with smoked salmon instead. Was good. Have also managed 2 weeks with no mid morning snacks and 2 days with no sugar except fruit! However, back to work today and first thing is a welcome breakfast!

Holly, I don't actually know, but I think the theory is that when you do a harder workout than normal your muscles hang on to water as they recover, and you just need to drink plenty and exercise as normal while they recover. I think it is that weird tired heavy feeling you sometimes get after a really good workout! Probably someone on an exercise thread would know!

cricketmum84 · 07/08/2019 06:48

Morning all and welcome to ❤️ Day 7 ❤️

Hope we are all feeling motivated and ready for another day!

Work is still crazy mental. God only knows what my team have done for the past 2 weeks but it wasn't what they were meant to be doing...

Plan for today is:
B - watermelon
L - feta salad
D - Bulgarian hotch potch! Basically scrambled eggs with peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes with garlic and herbs

Snacks - satsuma, peach, maybe more melon as I bought a huge one Monday night that needs eating!

Have a happy and successful day everyone!

@Millie2017 just think you have only had 6 days (out of 31) and you have already lost nearly half your goal for the month! That's fantastic!!

Fluffiest · 07/08/2019 07:56

1 pound up today again, I've yo-yo'd the whole week. Grr. I'm reminding myself that I have had 2 steady months of consistently losing pounds every few days so I'm due to hit a wall eventually.

Need to move things up a gear but am apprehensive about it. Need to get organised and have more veg in, and exercise more.

Going to have a walk with DD this morning, that will hopefully get us off to a good start.

OhTheRoses · 07/08/2019 08:11

Loving this month's diet being next month's body!

BrillyPribble · 07/08/2019 08:26

Millie that's a great loss, well done!!
One lb down for me this week, 13st 3lb, happy with that.

Fluffiest, don't get disheartened, you can do this.

PeriComoToes · 07/08/2019 08:43

Yes, I like that quote too.

Thanks for the support everyone, I felt so shit yesterday but did ok foodwise til the evening and mindlessly ate crisps, mini cheddars, leftover dinner, cheese and chocolate. I totted up the calories and including meals it came to about 2,300 so not crazy bad but it's easy to see how this kind of behaviour leads to putting on weight in the long term.

Millie wow to 400 calories for a drink, it's shocking isn't it? Add a muffin to that (as I've been known to do frequently) and that's almost 1000 calories extra!!! Do that once a week for a month and that's a pound on. Not that you shouldn't do that once a week but you have to work around it so to speak calorie wise.

Fresh start today. Currently still feeling a bit ropey but will get back on track.

Congrats on your engagement Everbloom lovely news!

LooseAtTheSeams · 07/08/2019 15:53

Peri that's pretty good in terms of calories - definitely don't think it will derail your efforts!
Today so far:
B malted wheats with soy milk, strawberries with yoghurt.
L very boring quorn sandwich but had crisps again (DH approach to picnic different to mine, shouldn't let him do it!)
S: handful of nuts, 1 naked bar, 1 apple, celery sticks with humus (to make up for veg-less picnic!)
D: tofu bites with baked veg fries.
On the upside no wine for 5 days so I think I can get away with crisps! Dread to think what the scales will say when I get home, though!

Tanaqui · 07/08/2019 16:03

That's another great quote Cricket. I've had a good day so far- cheese, ham and cucumber at the work breakfast, salad for lunch (with avocado and toasted seeds so quite filling), a banana; and I didn't eat the gf muffins, although I felt bad as they were bought specially for me! Off to spin in a minute, and then the onion/ tomato combi thing I may now also call Bulgarian hotch pitch!

I agree how little things mount up Peri- for me I think it was evening bowls of cereal and sneaky spoonfuls of peanut butter!

cricketmum84 · 07/08/2019 19:41

I failed a little bit today. Was so tired this afternoon and got a salted caramel iced latte with coconut milk from costa.

Then someone had brought in a load of tubs of those mini cakes from Morrison's! I had a salted caramel cookie and a cube of toffee cake (only about a square inch). I usually resist so I don't know what came over me!!

Not been a bad day here. Went running this evening - aiming to be able to run 10K by the end of the month and did 7.5k this evening - this compensates for the flapjack I had earlier. Just demolished a bowl of veggie chilli and brown rice and going to play the piano for a bit so I don’t end up snacking.

Millie2017 · 07/08/2019 21:56

Thanks everyone. I’ve upped my calories today to see my through my evening swim. I managed a mile.
So stuck to plan but added a packet of crisps and a small packet of chocolate buttons. Really hopeful for a good nights sleep and then back to being disciplined tomorrow.
Closing the kitchen!

Ihatesundays · 07/08/2019 22:37

Crappy few days. I’m realising 16:8 and PMT don’t mix.
Ate a magnum tonight and enjoyed every bit of it - DH told me to ‘feed my hormones’.

BlueTimesTwo · 07/08/2019 23:14

Hi all,

I've weighed in at 64.5kg so a 0.3kg weight loss for the week, not as much as I was hoping for. I'm 46 and weight loss is so much harder now than it was even 2-3 years ago. I've managed to cut out the sugar but obviously I need to just eat less in general, however stress and tiredness makes that hard.

Everbloom congratulations on your engagement! What a lovely ring and such a sweet proposal story.

Miles school holidays do make weight loss very hard I agree. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Millie wow 1.3kg loss? That's a fantastic effort!

Tanaqui · 08/08/2019 06:08

10st 3 this morning- I know it is water weight but it is still encouraging! I did spin last night and felt good- going to try to get to lunchtime before eating (16:8) but will take an apple just in case.

Cricket, tiredness, work and post holiday blues sound like a grim combo, well done for stopping at just a tiny bit!

cricketmum84 · 08/08/2019 06:21

Morning all :)

20st 9 this morning so that's another 3lbs off and leaves me only 1lb of holiday weight to lose! I'm really happy with that! Especially after the minor slip yesterday.

I'm all peopled out now and have tons of work to get through so I've arranged to WFH today, I need some peace and quiet!
Plan for today is:
B - 2 flat peaches
L - small grilled mackerel fillet with a little Cous Cous and some salad
D - roasted Mediterranean veg with a couple of poached eggs on top.

I've got plenty of fruit in the house for snacks and some sugar free wafer biscuits that are 1 ww point each if I need a little chocolate hit!

Hope everyone has a fabulous day! It's almost the weekend!!

Yesterday wasn’t a great day food wise, out for a leaving lunch with colleagues and then I succumbed to cakes in the afternoon. Today am travelling for work and having dinner out so just going to try to make the best choices I can. @Tanaqui thanks for the explanation about the water retention. I don’t know if that’s happening but will try drinking more water. Today will be a rest day from exercise due to travel anyway

Millie2017 · 08/08/2019 07:32

Morning all. I slept better but still feeling flat and lethargic, despite my swim yesterday. Quiet day planned. Will take the kids swimming and have a packed lunch. Not much else on. Might try and find an exercise class later or go for a walk.
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham sandwich
D. Chicken and veggies
Snacks. Lots of fruit
Have a good day everyone.

BrillyPribble · 08/08/2019 08:59

Morning all. Bit of a wayward day yesterday as dropped in to the in-laws and had tea there - lasagne & garlic bread followed by biscuits.
Didn't overeat hugely though as I would have done before and no damage done this morning. Back on track today, plan is no breakfast (16:8), chipotle chicken wraps for lunch and halloumi & grains & salad for tea. I don't plan snacks, but I have lots of easy snacks available, graze boxes, popcorn, fruit etc.

Fluffiest · 08/08/2019 09:04

I've lost my first August pounds at last! 2lbs down from my start weight. Feels such a relief.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and inspiration. This thread is great at keeping me from throwing in the towel!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/08/2019 11:12

78.1

Which is ok and I’m happy as long as I don’t breach 79 this month.

Weird question - how big should portion sizes be? There’s so much conflicting info out there and I’m baffled. Any pointers?

Seashell80 · 08/08/2019 13:38

Weighed in yesterday 16st exactly so 16lbs lost in 5 weeks! Didn't eat brilliantly yesterday
Breakfast: toast with scraping of Nutella
Lunch:seeded crackers and cheese spread
Tea: courgette fritters followed by strawberries and Greek yoghurt
Unfortunately the courgette friiters sept my IBS off so was in pain for three+ hours 😡although on the bright side at least I didn't want to snack during that time😆
Today feel much better although it's that time again so have purchased an emergency Picnic bar for this afternoon just in case😆😆
