Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Congratulations Everbloom! Beautiful ring. And hopefully lots of extra motivation in your weight loss journey. Smile

Hello August and hello you lovely lot. I lost 6lb in July. Hoping for 7lb in August which will see me hit the 10st mark (oh the dream!). Will read properly and catch up, for now I'm back on more nutritional eating (ah my focus feels much better!). To be fair I wasn't that bad in July compared to previous slips-no tubs of ice cream or two desserts.

Today:

B: Chia seeds, blueberries and pumpkin seeds
L: Black beans, tomoato, avocado, sweetcorn, basil, prawns, beetroot, an oatcake
D: salmon, brown rice, brocolli, chard

Cucumber, carrot and half an orange for snacks

Just over 1000 cals.

I tried making a spinach and banana smoothie, I added moringa powder and it was frankly disgusting. A similar experience to eating half a raw white onion I imagine. I binned that and bought an Innocent Smoothie with added multivitamins. Delicious though I am sure these are probably a con, I will focus on cutting these out to save money.

Go everyone, let's see what we can achieve!

Millie2017 · 05/08/2019 21:51

Congratulations @everbloom! Lovely news!
I take on board the comments about sugar in fruit and also the lack of protein in my diet. My problem is over eating. So when I do eat, it’s too much regardless of what it is. That’s why I’m eating so much fruit. It feels the lesser of the foods available. I am managing to stay away from chocolate, biscuits and the like. I’m just over eating in general.
I’m going to see what the scales say on the 7th.
I stuck to plan today, but felt really hungry tonight, despite eating another banana! So I had a nature valley cereal bar.
Closing the kitchen. Night all.

Millie2017 · 05/08/2019 21:53

@HollyTheHarrier are you weighing everyday?I have weird daily fluctuations but generally speaking my end of week gain/loss is justified.

cricketmum84 · 05/08/2019 22:28

Stuck to my plan today on my first day back on it. I had 2 popped grains Irish cloud bread type things about 10am (28 calls each), my salad for lunch, didn't get an iced coffee from Costa, had to do a big food shop straight after work and I got some lovely fruit and veg, pink spring onions. Rose sweet onions. Kale sprouts, pink apples, fresh English strawberries and doughnut peaches amongst others. Quick roasted veg with veggie sausage for tea splashed with balsamic.

Had half a bottle of white Rioja from Lidl but still well within my points for the day.

@Millie2017 yes although I don’t always record it because the fluctuations can be a bit random. I’m comfortable with the odd up and down, but i’ve been consistently up for over a week despite being on plan. I’ll keep going for a bit and see if it sorts itself out, otherwise I might have to try something different (not sure what though - fasting doesn’t sound appealing given I work irregular and long hours and run a lot)

Morning all and welcome to ❤️ Day 6 ❤️

Hopped on the scales and I'm 1lb down already. Happy with that :)

Busy day ahead with work, got back to combined over 300 emails to deal with over two inboxes... still trying to sort them!!

Plan for today is:
B - watermelon
L - cucumber and tomato salad with olives and feta
D - baked potato with tuna and salad

Hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday. X

Morning! I have officially lost it (not weight). I knew I would once the kids broke up from school, but I was in denial.

I'm not binging, but I'm not managing to stick 16:8.

I love having the children at home, but I need my routine for weight loss.

I'm going to keep checking in here if that's ok, just to stop actual gain.

Have a great day everyone!

Aww congratulations everbloom! What a lovely reason to celebrate.

DP has suggested we go to the pub this evening as between him working late recently and me going out for evening runs, we’ve been a bit like ships passing in the night!

Will have to plan the rest of my day out carefully - don’t want to go too far over calories, especially as we have a busy weekend ahead with lots of boozing and eating out!

Fluffiest · 06/08/2019 07:35

Congratulations everbloom! That proposal sounded wonderful!

I've dropped those pounds I gained this week and I'm back to my August start weight. I managed a run last night and then began sponging down the walls in our front room - we have spent two weeks sanding in there and now the place is so full of dust we can't paint till it's all gone! At least I can count it as a bit more exercise!

Wellthatwastricky · 06/08/2019 07:46

Hello all! Checking in out of guilt rather to report progress.

It has all gone to pot in the last week. Not sure why - probably mixture of summer hols destroying routine, and serious sleep deprivation (toddler waking at least once a night plus I have insomnia = very little sleep). I just don't have the reserves right now and not got the right motivation to stick to it. Had been focusing on the goal of getting into some of my old clothes for my hols in 4 weeks and have realised it's totally unrealistic and rather than giving me the impetus to work harder has made me feel frustrated.

Decided to take a diet sabbatical... would still like to still lose a lb or two in August but going to work on maintaining, rather than losing for a few weeks, then get back on it after my September hols. Will still pop in here from time to time so I don't lose the plot altogether!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 06/08/2019 08:01

I wrote a fair long post last night then lost it before it posted Angry

Congratulations @everbloom!!

Had a tough day yesterday. Didn't go over calories but just spent the while day feeling like a hefalump. Had a WhatsApp conversation with a friend who is feeling exactly the same. Anyway as I said to her, there is no point moaning about it, I just have to get on and change it!

Well done on those losses @cricketmum84 and @Fluffiest Smile

AdventureTravelDreamer · 06/08/2019 08:02

My aim from 1st Aug is to lose at least 10lbs by 27th Sept when DH and I go away for 5 nights without the two teens Grin

BrillyPribble · 06/08/2019 08:22

Morning all and congratulations everbloom! Wedding planning is such an exciting time.

I'm down a smidge again today but won't count it till my official weigh day tomorrow. I took some progress photos yesterday though and while I can see a difference, I can also see why no one has yet noticed. I have such a long way to go still, it was a bit depressing. Literally ALLLL my excess weight is on my tummy and I was shockingly bloated and rotund when I started this. Deflation is underway but I'm still very round. I have diastasis recti still from pregnancy so no stomach muscle tone to speak of.
On the other hand, I'm very happy with the 16:8 method, it suits me really well and I find it pretty easy to stick to

cricketmum84 · 06/08/2019 08:23

No idea what was going on with MN this morning. It kept telling me it couldn't post but now I see it did post each time

@Wellthatwastricky and @MilesJuppIsMyBitch don't stress it, it's a few weeks out of 52 and it's so hard to keep a routine when the kids are off! Maintaining until September is still a win!

Well done every one!

I haven't been doing well. Done ok with exercise but food has been crap. It's all since I was ill and got into bad habits.

Trying to reset it today!

To those worried about parkrun you can honestly walk the whole thing. Go and look at latest results at your local parkrun at most of the ones I babe done there are people who finish at like 1 hour. Yes you get fast 16min runners but there are much slower people too. And you'll never be last- that's the tail walkers job!

lightlypoached · 06/08/2019 09:47

Hello all, posting from holiday in France.

Congrats on losses and engagements!

Lots of cheese and wine going on but I'm enjoying myself. Was hoping to do daily yoga but my knee is worse so only managed one session so far Sad

But did I mention the cheese to compensate?Grin

Oh and just look at my mosquito bites. They love me, even when slathered in repellant. I hate mosquitoes, the little bastards.

The rest of the holiday is lovely though Smile

No weigh in until I get back
