Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

@cricketmum84 5lbs isn't so bad for a 2 weeks holiday! I bet most of that comes off this week. I hope you had a lovely time!!

Had the best nights sleep I've had in well over a week last night so feeling much more energised and motivated today!
Today's food:
B: Skyr yoghurt
L: Tuna salad and light salad cream
D: Ham and cheese ciabatta with a side of carrots, celery etc and hummus
Snacks: banana, latte, chocolate

I think this comes to around 1200 which is good, I'm not as sore as I was anticipating from yesterday's run, so have done usual walking plus a walk at lunch time. I plan to do a short recovery run this evening as well. Mid week weight is 78.5 which feels good to me! Would be fab to break into 77s by Thursday but we'll see.

Millie2017 · 05/08/2019 13:51

Morning all. Finally managed to post. Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham salad sandwich
D. Jacket potato and baked beans
Snacks: plenty of fruit and a decent coffee
I’ve already eaten an orange, a banana, some strawberries, watermelon, grapes and apple today. I’m wondering whether I’m overdoing the fruit! Will keep on for now as fruit is better then chocolate, cake or crisps but starting to wonder whether it’s impacting my weight loss. Will weigh on again on the 7th to see how I’m doing.

Millie2017 · 05/08/2019 13:51

Meant to add no exercise planned for today to recover from yesterday’s long walk.

Ihatesundays · 05/08/2019 14:17

I’m back on! No change. No exercise planned after a very sweaty power walk last night, not sure what to do.

Fluffiest · 05/08/2019 14:26

I'm on a 2lb gain since yesterday, which is annoying but probably down to the Dr Pepper I had at lunch and the three spicy chicken wings I had last night.

On the plus side I started running again yesterday and got a good nights sleep for the first time in a week. I struggled last couple of weeks due to illness, period and disrupted sleep but I'm still here and I want to get back to the routine routine that was working for me: no snacking, smaller portions, daily 20 minute exercise, no pop.

Skinnywish1 · 05/08/2019 15:24

Oh well 1st August weigh in and I've gained a lb. Tamping

LooseAtTheSeams · 05/08/2019 16:44

Oh dear, caved and had pizza. Must go running tomorrow!

DeadButDelicious · 05/08/2019 16:53

Afternoon all!

Pleasantly surprised by a 0.4kg loss this morning after a pretty rubbish weekend, my PIL are being arsehats playing favourites with the grandkids and I was just so frustrated and angry for my DD who is always being pushed out, I couldn't even make anything to distract myself as it all came out wrong so I ended up reaching for the biscuits more than once.

Here's where we are;

Weight at end of July: 119.9kg

1/08/2019: 120.0kg

5/08/2019: 119.6kg

Loss so far in August: 0.4kg

Weight at beginning of 2019: 142.9kg
Total loss so far: 23.3kg (3.669stones/51.368lbs)

I've been out for lunch with my mum and brother today but hopefully that's been cancelled out by all the walking I've done.

Hope you all are doing well. I really need to be more active on this thread!

Dyrne · 05/08/2019 17:25

Hi all, Am miffed this morning - after a full week of faithfully accounting for every single calorie and coming in under every day; plus 3 lots of walk/jogs (C25K); plus multiple long walks each day; last week I lost a grand total of 0.3kg Angry

Am forcing myself to look on the bright side as it is still the lowest i’ve weighed since Jan 2018; and so far I have resisted going “fuck it, what’s the point” and diving headfirst into a pile of chocolate. Am also hoping at some point it will all go “whoosh” and I’ll lose loads!

Had a low cal lunch with 3 of my 5 a day. Planning a healthy supper and then will go out tonight for W6R1.

If I don’t lose a nice amount this week i’ll try switching to 5:2; as 16:8 and less than 1200 calories may not be enough!!

PeriComoToes I hate that feeling of having a really nice weekend but then having to deal with the fallout to the weight loss progress!

Millie I’m always torn with fruit as well - on the one hand, it’s really nutritious and much better than other snacks; but on the other it is quite a lot of sugar, and much higher calorie than veg. I guess just see how it goes but maybe if you don’t see any movement then check how many additional calories you’re having from the fruit.

Dead Sounds stressful! Well done on the loss despite PIL playing silly buggars.

BrillyPribble · 05/08/2019 17:38

Ahhh finally back on! Millie fruit is tricky because it's so sugary but it's still a much better choice than cake! I wonder whether you are getting enough good fats and protein? There's not much in your plan for today.

Today I've had a tropical fruit smoothie with ground almonds for protein. Salad with pine nuts for lunch and thinking of lentil curry for tea.
I've been on 13st 4lb since the start of the month so hoping for a whoosh down soon

onemouseplace · 05/08/2019 17:45

None of my current clothes fit and I'm fed up with buying cheap stuff as a "stop gap" before I slim down.

This is me. I am just back from buying more cheap t-shirts in H&M to wear with the one pair of unflattering jeans I own. I have a wedding to go to at the end of August and I need to lose enough weight so my dress will do up round my boobs.

onemouseplace · 05/08/2019 17:48

Anyway - I really need to knock the mid week drinking on the head, but it's the holidays and summer and a cold lager is my guilty pleasure of an evening.

So, today I've eaten pretty well - banana, actimel and boiled egg with one slice of toast for breakfast. Salami and boursin sandwich and nectarine for lunch. I'm starving so I've just had a couple of oatcakes with soft cheese. Not sure what's for dinner yet, but no beer tonight!

Hi guys

This weekend was a write off.

I got engaged on Friday!!! Which led to a weekend of drinking and eating far far too much. Back on it though and determined to get to my goal weight before trying on any wedding dresses Grin

cricketmum84 · 05/08/2019 20:16

@everbloom whooop! Congratulations!!

Rules of the group are:

  1. We need to hear how he proposed
  1. We need to see the ring!!!

@cricketmum84

He told me we were going out and to be ready, he blindfolded me and took me to a spot that is special to both of us (both of our grandparents took us there when we were younger) and got down on one knee! It was honestly perfect! I would of hated a proposal with a load of people watching...

Here's the ring SmileSmileSmile

Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!!
winewolfhowls · 05/08/2019 20:34

Can I join? I'm greedy and lazy so hoping for some willpower to stretch over the Internet from you lovely ladies, plus seeing some recent holiday pictures was a shock!

My downfall is the tired snacking after kids have gone to bed so going to try the no food after seven suggested upthread as a starting point

everbloom · 05/08/2019 20:38

@DeadButDelicious thank you lovely!! Thanks

cricketmum84 · 05/08/2019 20:47

@everbloom oh wow what a beautiful ring 😍😍😍

I'm not crying at all... not even a bit... 😢

How bloody romantic! Xx

That ring is beautiful everbloom!

HollyTheHarrier · 05/08/2019 21:08

Congratulations @everbloom! What great motivation to keep going with a healthy diet too!

I didn’t count calories over the weekend but pretty sure I was ok once you take into account exercise - lots of gardening and housework on Saturday and half marathon yesterday. But I’ve gone up 0.4kg 😒 annoying and slightly disheartening- just can’t seem to get the weight to come off

everbloom · 05/08/2019 21:16

@cricketmum84 @DeadButDelicious @HollyTheHarrier thank you thank you! It's been a weekend full of champagne and food....

I'm determined that I'm going to do this! Planning on fasting from 6:30pm-12pm everyday with cardio most days & at least 7k steps everyday.

Will update my progress tomorrow!

Let's do this!

OhTheRoses · 05/08/2019 21:21
