Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

@lightlypoached that's a great result for 2 weeks of wine and cheese!! I may need to give the french diet a try once I get bored of the Bulgarian one 😂

10st2.5 this morning - was hoping to be back to 10st 1 something, but my fat % has dropped slightly which I suppose is good (although I think it varies a bit depending on hydration). Must stay strong - if I fast a few more hours I've done the 16!

cricketmum84 · 19/08/2019 08:23

Morning all :) Day 19 already!!

Hope we are all still going strong and sticking to plan. And you know, if you aren't then today is the day to start! It's a whole new day and a whole new week, let's start as we mean to go on!!

Plan for today is
B - satsuma
L - sandwich with 20g grated cheese and salad, malted bread
D - grilled mackerel salad (zero points)

Weight still the same but I'm going to leave it a few days before I weigh again.

Morning all!

What. A. Week. Threw the 'diet' out the window as I just wasn't in the right headspace for it, so just ate what I felt like. I was mostly good, got a good few walks in, but did have a few naughty meals out.

Finally got things sorted with the Inlaws, a few home truths were told and hopefully things are on the up. They know they weren't being fair to DD, they seem to want things to change. We shall see. I could really use one source of stress and worry being removed.

Got on the scales this morning and was greeted with a 1.3kg loss. I don't know how that's happened to be honest but I'll take it. It's a 0.7kg gain still for this month but hopefully I can get rid of that and maintain.

Weight at end of July: 119.9kg

1/08/2019: 120.0kg

5/08/2019: 119.6kg

12/08/2019: 121.9kg

19/08/2019: 120.6kg

Loss so far in August: 1.3kg loss (0.7kg gain for the month adjusted)

Weight at beginning of 2019: 142.9kg
Total loss so far: 22.3kg(3.512stones/49.163lbs)

Hi all, I have been on leave from work and haven't posted in a while. I got very negative for a couple of days as my weight actually went up even though I was being sensible. I think it was hormonal but still doesn't help!! Anyway it seems to have gone back to normal now and so far I have lost 3lbs this month which I am pleased with Smile

@cricketmum84 the situation with your MIL sounds horrible! I agree with the other posters that there is no way she can have not noticed that you have lost 5 stone!! And that is an amazing achievement so I hope you are very proud of yourself!!

I can't remember who it was that said about repeating the weight you want to be to yourself (and every time I try to go back to the thread to remember poster names I always end up losing what I have typed so far!) but I love this idea and think it will be helpful for me.

I'm off again this week so am going to try to limit the alcohol and be active and see if I can make my target of 5 lbs for the month.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 19/08/2019 09:05

@DeadButDelicious 3.5 stone this year is amazing! Well done!!!

Ihatesundays · 19/08/2019 09:11

Randomly 2ibs heavier today. Weighed myself 3 times to check.

I’m still not losing any weight on 16:8 - not sure if I should just stop.

3dogs2cats · 19/08/2019 10:14

Miserable weekend for me. Got so upset about a family drama that I made myself ill. Couldn’t exercise, couldn’t move!. Some friends came on Sunday and talked sense into me, then we went off to have our favourite fish curry
I suppose I should say miserable 3 days and then a fabulous Sunday? But back to 102.5 kilos. Which doesn’t feel good. Try for normal day, or what passes for it round here

bluebeck · 19/08/2019 10:49

STS today 11:10. I think I need a poo though Blush

WoollyFoolly · 19/08/2019 13:22

Also stayed the same here, although I find it's usually followed by a little whoosh so fingers crossed there's some movement before my 'official' weigh in on Wednesday.
ihatesundays are you calorie counting as well as doing 16:8?

AdventureTravelDreamer · 19/08/2019 23:49

Went for a run with DD today. I bloody hate running. I am so rubbish at it but I did one lap of the route (approx 3km) and I kept telling myself as I was running 'I want to be 10st 6lbs' as per @Fluffiest suggestion. I think it helped, well I kept going when every part of me wanted to stop so thanks for the tip Smile

Then came home, had a lovely dinner from Lean in 15, then had friends over and drank Prosecco Smile

Tanaqui · 20/08/2019 05:52

Sorry you have been having tough times Dead and 3dogs- I hope the home truths were satisfying Dead!

I don't think every diet suits everyone Ihate- 16:8 worked really well for me when I wasn't working, but is way harder now I can't control all my eating times. Have you ever done 5:2?

10st2.5 again today, didn't have a great day yesterday, so must stay focused today.

Vebrithien · 20/08/2019 06:54

Morning all,
Sounds like you all have challenges to contend with right now.

I finally got my BFN this morning, almost 3 weeks post surgery. Was starting to get concerned that the surgery hadn't been completed, but big relief now!

We're off to Spain at the end of the week. I'll weigh-in tomorrow, as that's my usual day, but will probably sneak an extra weight-in by the end of the week. I'd love to be sub-92 kg, think it might give me the will power to not overeat at the all inclusive buffet. We'll see.

Currently finishing off the washing, packing and making sure the house is as tidy as it can be. And keeping a 3 year old entertained...

Off to the park today!

Ihatesundays · 20/08/2019 12:59

No change for me as usual. Exercise continues to change my body shape though. Frustrated still though as I think 1/2 stone off would make a big difference.

Lookingforpizza · 20/08/2019 13:30

Right! I've had it. I keep jumping on and off the sodding wagon and I'm fed up of myself. A few things have reawakened my motivation:

  • DP made an insensitive comment about my weight over the weekend (a silly joke made in passing without thought, absolutely no malicious intent but still hurtful)
  • A colleague came up to me today just to say how great I am looking and what I've been doing to lose weight and get fitter. It really caught me off guard and made my day. Reminded me I want to get back on with things and achieve my goals.

So a mixed bag! Other motivation include that I really need to save money over the next couple of months as I have been offered a new job! Fantastic news but because of how the dates fall, I'll only be paid part month and have to make up some of the rest for the following month.

Today I'm back on it with:
B: Muesli (no added sugar) and skimmed milk
L: Carrot with jalapeño hummus
D: Jacket potato with tuna and salad cream
Snacks: Banana, choc ice and latte

Not perfect but not bad at around 1200 cals overall, trying to use up food I've got in so there's no waste!
Really must stay accountable! Time to read through the thread and see what's happening...

Hippywannabe · 20/08/2019 13:35

Am I too late to join? I have managed to lose 8lbs in August through a combination of MFP and working out online every day( well, most days....ok some days)

Lookingforpizza · 20/08/2019 14:37

@Hippywannabe never too late to join!!! And 8lbs already is an absolutely amazing achievement, well done Grin

CoolLikeOvie · 20/08/2019 17:43

Thanks everybody! Sorry I went MIA, was not restrained at the bottomless brunch or the day after where after hardly eating any carbs for months, I ate a footlong subway and more crisps and biscuits than I care to remember Blush was 6lbs heavier yesterday! That's gone down 3lbs today, so fingers crossed it's just water weight and I'll be back under 13st tomorrow 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Whoever asked what I've been doing - basically a bastardised version of fast800/ low carb/ fasting. But actually, I should really be eating a protein based breakfast due to the medication I'm on, so I'm gonna stop the fasting and hope it doesn't have too much of an effect.. I'm not really a big breakfast fan so have just ordered my first ever protein shake pot. Feel like an athlete Grin will hopefully help in the gym too.

I dont often eat lunch, but if I do I have cheese, nuts, berries and sometimes a bit of chicken - and meat and veg for dinner. Most nights I have a bit of dark chocolate and a sugar free lollipop. Pretty boring but I'm finding it easy enough tbh (when I'm not hungover anyway Blush). Easiest diet I've ever tried once the carb cravings go. The gym has helped a lot too and I'm really happy with the way my body shape is changing. Starting to think about online dating after being far too consumed with self loathing to even debate it so have spent most of my 20s so far inside eating rubbish!

Sorry to everyone going through a tough time atm, well done to all losers, and 🙏🏼 for a whoosh for everyone STS.

cricketmum84 · 20/08/2019 19:45

Welcome @Hippywannabe!

Sorry I've been a bit vacant so far this week, work is in it's crazy week again and I'm working all day and night every day.

Scales still haven't moved :(

Haven't eaten much today, coffee and water this morning, then a little bit of leftover mackerel from last night at lunch with a bit of salad. Dinner is some green vegan meatball type things with chopped tomatoes and some more salad. Should have enough points for a little cheese :)

KOKO my lovelies!

HollyTheHarrier · 20/08/2019 22:20

Had a couple of bad-ish days food wise with excessive amounts of sugar although probably not too bad on overall calories. It doesn’t make me feel good though and I can really feel the bloating from all the sugary stuff. Today was a bit better and tomorrow should be ok as I am wfh and have limited sources of food in the house! Haven’t weighed since my successful Sunday morning weigh in. Might need another day of good eating before I dare 🙈 well done everyone who has had success and keep going those of you on a frustrating yo-yo/plateau

Tanaqui · 21/08/2019 05:56

10st2.7 Agh!! It feels i have eaten so little for so long (I know that's an exaggeration!) and for one measly pound! I know it's harder as you get older, but I am fed up! Hope you all are doing better than me!

Vebrithien · 21/08/2019 07:12

I only gone and bloody done it!

91.2 kg!!!!!!!

I am officially no longer obese Grin

AND I'm now down into double figures for my waist circumference.

Total of 3.3 kg off in August so far, hit my target for going on holiday.

Since April, that's 19.8 kg lost, meaning I've broken the 3 stone barrier, and lost at least 11 cm from my waist (didn't start measuring my waist until the end of May).

We're off all inclusive at the weekend, and I'm hoping that having got to my holiday target, that'll help with my willpower, making sensible choices.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Your support has been instrumental in helping me keep accountable.

WoollyFoolly · 21/08/2019 07:37

Yay Verbrithien, congratulations! Such an important target to hit!
Stayed the same here, still 13st 1 but in a week where I've eaten out twice and had a takeaway curry another day, that's ok with me. Total loss for August so far is 3lb.

I went out and bought a few smaller clothes yesterday and am in the process of going through my wardrobe seeing what no longer fits and what I can get away with still wearing. It's a bit annoying because I've only been back at work for 2 years (was a sahm for years before that) so bought a whole new work wardrobe when I started back and am now having to retire almost all of it!

cricketmum84 · 21/08/2019 07:59

Morning all! No movement on the scales again!!! How?? I'm under ww points every day and the only naughty thing I've eaten was 2 biscoff last night!

@HollyTheHarrier I'm wfh today too. Going to slice up half a melon for snacking so I don't end up in the crisps box!!

@Tanaqui I feel like that too. I turned down garlic bread last night!! How am I not noticeably thinner?!?!

@Vebrithien YAYYYYYYY!! That's such an amazing milestone! Hope you have a lovely relaxing holiday!

@WoollyFoolly an STS is definitely a good result :) I do love having to buy new clothes!!

Plan for today is melon for breakfast and lunch, avoid the crisp box, monkfish for dinner with a few new potatoes and lots of salad!

Anyone know the best way to cook monkfish? I got it on special offer but have never cooked it before!

3dogs2cats · 21/08/2019 08:05

Think I need to adjust my target and try to lose a kilo so I am back at my starting weight for the month of 101 k. I also need to work on not having seconds, done that twice this week, and it’s not helping.
So pleased to hear how well others are doing , gives me hope.
