Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Hey all. I've been a bit absent this week both from the thread and diet. Scales still need batteries. Rain is stopping me from running. Got a wedding tomorrow.

I've not lost the plot completely but Ive not been as strict as I have been.

I think I'm just going to get past tomorrow, enjoy the wedding and then get back on it properly on Sunday.

Sorry PaulHollywood that the binging urge is coming on strong. I found that focusing like mad on losing the next pound has helped my willpower. When I was wanting to eat rubbish I repeated what my weight would be if I lost one more pound, over and over again. "no I don't want that kitkat, I want to be blank stone blank". I even chant the number in my head whilst I exercise. Then I feel really good when I see that number on the scales. And then I focus on the next number. I know that sounds silly but repeating the number in my head gave me less room to think, "but I want the kitkat" or "go on have another".

Do you know my mother in law hasn't even mentioned that I've lost weight. 5 bastard stone and she hasn't even noticed. And she is OBSESSED with weight.

Cricket I think it is extremely unlikely she hasn't noticed........ She is possibly jealous?

BrillyPribble · 16/08/2019 17:35

I probably should have mentioned the crucial detail that my MIL is lovely. Sounds like that's the difference! There's no way she won't have noticed yours cricket

cricketmum84 · 16/08/2019 17:56

She's a bit of a fat shamer. She used to be quite big, probably about a size 18 but then was told she was pre-diabetic. She's now about 8 stone and literally eats like a sparrow.

She's really strange about it though, she likes to show me her portion sizes. Takes great delight in telling me how little she has eaten. "About a matchbox size piece of chicken, 1 new potato and about 6 peas".

She even once held up all SILs holiday clothes to show me how tiny they were (she's a size 6).

Shit shit shit

The wedding we were going to tomorrow. Was actually today! Blush I don't know how but we have completely misread the invitation. What idiots! DH only realised when he got a miscall from the groom twenty minutes ago.

We are gutted and feel so guilty. Was really looking forward to going and felt really honoured to be invited. We even met up with the couple two weeks ago and were sharing all of our sage wedding advice, including "something will always go wrong but don't let it spoil your day." Never thought we'd be part of the something that went wrong.

My only silver lining is that at least I won't be over indulging on a wedding feast tomorrow.

WoollyFoolly · 16/08/2019 22:33

Oh no Fluffiest, that’s awful! I dread things like that happening!

Tanaqui · 17/08/2019 06:49

Oh no Fluffiest, how awful. If they are not straight away on honeymoon can you send massive flowers? Or were you close enough to dash over for the evening?

10st3 this morning, but ate late last night as out, so expected it. Had salad though, and although I'm really hungry right now, Im going to try not to eat till at least 11am. It's raining - what's fun and healthy to do?!

Fluffiest · 17/08/2019 07:44

The wedding was an hour away so we didn't make it to the evening do. We're going to try and see them as soon as they are free after the honeymoon, with presents and apologies a plenty. Just hope that we didn't upset them too badly by missing it. They are really good kind people.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/08/2019 08:19

Oh GOD @fluffiest

What a total nightmare Blush

Ihatesundays · 17/08/2019 08:36

This is the problem with Friday weddings - you read it and assume Saturday 😬

Another 0.1kilo off. One day that will be a big number!

LooseAtTheSeams · 17/08/2019 09:36

Oh no Fluffiest but can totally understand the mixup.
No weight loss again but think too much sitting around hasn't helped - striving to be more active this weekend!

WoollyFoolly · 17/08/2019 09:51

No loss today but started period yesterday and had a (half of) takeaway curry for tea last night so no big surprise.

CoolLikeOvie · 17/08/2019 09:53

Woooo! So happy right now just 5lbs to go until I'm a healthy BMI, and the lowest weight I've been since DD(4).

Had my first comment this week too! Best feeling.

I've been going to the gym, and my shape is completely different than last time I was this weight. I've got a waist! It's incredible if you don't shift your eyes a few cm down to the belly/ overhang. does anybody know where you can go and get your body fat measured? Does it do it on the scales in Boots? My gym charges a fiver which seems a bit steep. It was 39% (!!!) when I signed up for the gym 7 weeks ago. Have lost 16lbs since then and really want to know if my body fat has gone down as that really shocked me into action.

Out this afternoon for bottomless brunch - will try to be mindful but it's the hangover eating that really does the damage I only get to go out a few times a year though (single parent) so I'll be kind to myself and KOKO on Monday.

Well done everyone, and @cricketmum84 you look amazing! Huge inspiration!

bluebeck · 17/08/2019 10:10

Well done Ovie that's fantastic!

Fluffiest I am in the "weddings are boring" camp so I would be secretly pleased I had missed it Blush

I am another pound down today so 11:10. I can't believe it!! Had 5 vodka and diet cokes last night accompanied by a bag of crisps, so would have been happy to STS. I just wish I had tried the 16:8 years months ago. I just didn't think I would be able to hack it and I have surprised myself [halo

Will be strict today and go for a long beach walk. Looking after my friends children tomorrow and Monday whilst she has some much needed time off so there will be treats in the house - YIKES!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 17/08/2019 12:30

Tell me what you did to achieve such success @CoolLikeOvie

As of Monday week I’m starting 16:8 - the in-laws are here this week and any attempt to do anything will be up the wall. Plus I will have to observe the 10am to 6pm window as I’m not giving up having tea with the little ones for anything, I love it.

So I’ll be losing 3kg in September

[i think]

cricketmum84 · 17/08/2019 12:35

Oh god @Fluffiest!! That's such a nightmare, I bet you feel awful!

@CoolLikeOvie amazing work! Well done :)

Quiet weekend for us, kids are away with my parents so it's very peaceful! We are going out for Mexican food and a couple of cocktails later, that will be my only food for the day though.

Ivycat has been for her check up this morning, all tests have come back as within normal range, still can't believe how much she has recovered. They are talking about taking her off treatment next month of the bloods are still as good. She will end up outliving me at this rate!

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. X

CoolLikeOvie you are an inspiration! ⭐️
I made healthy tabbouleh for lunch and enough left over for tomorrow (although I might add humous!) and looking forward to tofu/veg stir fry tonight.

LooseAtTheSeams · 17/08/2019 16:04

Whoops! Posted before sending hugs to the amazing Ivycat!⭐️

Fluffiest · 17/08/2019 16:24

Thanks for your commiserations everyone. We've had a gracious forgiving reply from the groom. Which has eased our cringe a little bit.

Instead of glaming up at the long past wedding we have gone for a long walk at a nature reserve. We've actually had a great day outside, which I guess is good for our health. (but we still feel very bad about missing the wedding)

So glad to hear that Ivycat is doing so well. That's one tough kitty!

lightlypoached · 18/08/2019 07:21

Morning. Back from hols 😬

And the damage is.......
Last night before bed: 62.6 kilos
This morning: 61.6/28,5%

Astonished to find I've only put on 1 kilo after 2 weeks of cheese, wine (lots of wine), and a shit ton of french bread with butter, and a pretty sedentary life owing to my dodgy knee. Am half expecting a delayed reaction and a couple of kilos to appear by Wednesday !

That said I did have a lot of salad and fish and yoga/swam most days so maybe that offered some damage limitation?

Back onto fasting 16:8 once/twice a week and aiming for 59 something kilos, so you're stuck with me for a while yet Grin

Good to see the losses you've all been wracking up. Thinking of you alll losing all that fat reminds me of that Dr Who episode with the cute little Adipose creatures. Where does all that fat go? I kind of hope there are little Adiposes around, they are rather cute 😂

Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!!
Tanaqui · 18/08/2019 08:16

Had a bit of a disaster last night- think I was over tired and obviously hungry, and ate falafel, crackers, ham, cheese, cereal, more cereal, a whole bag of nuts and flapjack. And am back to 10st4 this morning! Hopefully just a blip; and fortunately there was no bread in the house, but I am going to have to be very careful about being tired now I'm back at work full time. Off to the gym later! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

HollyTheHarrier · 18/08/2019 12:47

Pre run weigh in this morning was 61.0kg, still seeing some movement. My target for the end of August is 60kg, not going to achieve 3kg this month. Interestingly I weighed after my run and was 60.5kg, not going to count it as all due to dehydration but just goes to show how much you can gain/lose due to water in such a short space of time

Ihatesundays · 18/08/2019 14:41

No change. Unsurprising as I couldn’t stop eating yesterday I was so hungry. I ended up eating masses of fruit and gave myself a stomach ache.
Today I tried eating a small bowl of cereal at 11.30am which seems to be helping, I’ve then delayed my lunch.
Went for a walk for an hour this morning. When I was out it didn’t feel like that much effort but I am tired and my legs are aching. DH also tells me my ‘arse and legs are disappearing’.....😂

cricketmum84 · 18/08/2019 15:02

No change for me either. I did have quite a naughty tea out last night though, spinach and ricotta cannelloni with garlic flatbread, there was so much garlic butter on the bread it was pooling off onto the plate. Also had a pornstar martini and an aperol spritz then a couple of g&ts when I got home.

Today will be better, I haven't actually eaten yet although I am flipping starving. I got some salmon fish cakes on offer at Aldi so will have one of those with a big salad later. Is seemed a bit pointless cooking a Sunday dinner for just me and DH, especially as I don't eat meat anyway.

Thank you for the ivy hugs, I've passed them all on Smile
