Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

I find food quite easy in France. Fruit for breakfast, cheese and toms for lunch and plenty of fresh fish/meat for supper. We usually cook at home, perhaps go out for a cpl lunches/couple of dinners in a week but mostly it's easy pottering. Easy to stick to gin and slim at home.

Ihatesundays · 11/08/2019 21:04

So managed an hours power walk today and a fitness blender workout - my Fitbit says I have burned over 2400 and I have eaten about 1300.
However I am still ploughing on with this 16:8 thing although I am still not losing weight!
I did try my size 12 jeans on and I don’t feel like I am going to die - however I still look far far too big!

Tanaqui · 12/08/2019 05:59

10sr 2.7 this morning so slow but the right direction! And yesterday I went to the gym, did 16:8 and totalled around 1000 kcal. I must go for 1200 really though or I will struggle to get through a work day without eating everything. About to pack a really nice salad for lunch.

@Ihatesundays you did well even if you do hate Sundays! And NSV are encouraging - if you are doing lots of thr fitness blender workouts are hou changing shape?

cricketmum84 · 12/08/2019 06:24

No loss to report today from me, however I am struggling to go to the loo Blush and I had 3 slices of garlic bread with my quorn and salad dinner last night and a small slice of lemon tart that my daughter had made all by herself. That was my only meal of the day though and I stayed away from evening snacks.

Plan for today is:
B - coffee and blackberries
L - salad with 50g feta and a tablespoon of mixed seeds
D - spiced chickpeas and rocket salad

Happy Monday everyone! Don't forget to be awesome.

I’m weighing myself today.

Have now made it to week 2 of C25K and eliminating meat from my diet is proving easy and successful.

I’ve got to make star charts for the children this morning - am literally putting a row on for myself to reward myself for every day without a sweetie.

4 stars gets me a pair of trainers.

Yeah, I went there. Grin

Fluffiest · 12/08/2019 07:10

Grin I love a good star chart paulhollwood

This mornings scales said 9st2, then I checked again, 9st4, and then I did once more for best out of three and the scales said ERROR. Time for new batteries again.

Got a wedding on Saturday so I'm going to use that as my motivation to stay on it this week. I'll be wearing a dress that I bought for an April wedding, I was a stone heavier back then and I'm curious to see how different it looks on now.

PeriComoToes · 12/08/2019 07:38

No change for me over the weekend so still 13.8 (2.2lbs August).

I too am lamenting the days when I could lop off 4lbs a week but really when I've done that it's been through unsustainable means (for me). So although it's taken me 6weeks to lose 11lbs hopefully that will be a permanent loss.

Great Monday motivation cricket.

Heading out the door for a spa day followed by dinner and drinks. Feel like I really need it!

DeadButDelicious · 12/08/2019 08:08

Bugger. Bugger. Bugger. I have eaten out A LOT this week and it shows. The carbs definitely found me and I have welcomed them back with open arms it appears. Angry

Back to the plan this week.

I'm so disappointed in myself.

Weight at end of July: 119.9kg

1/08/2019: 120.0kg

5/08/2019: 119.6kg

12/08/2019: 121.9kg

Loss so far in August: 2.1kg gain. Bugger.

Weight at beginning of 2019: 142.9kg
Total loss so far: 21kg (3.307stones/46.298lbs)

OhTheRoses · 12/08/2019 08:24

Grr. Scales said 12.9 this morning. It was last night's roast lamb! Plan to fast today to hopefully see a loss from last week's 12.10 at ww. So disappointing when yesterday's weigh showed a 7.

Do find this thread a help though. So far abput 2lb down in August. 16lb since 15 April. Would love to break 12.7 consistently by late August.

catspyjamas27 · 12/08/2019 08:29

Can I join please? Have put on a shed load lately...wine and carbs are to blame. Feeling really fed up with myself and don't really know where to begin or how to make permanent changes. I'm definitely cutting down on alcohol. Have tried cutting out unhealthy snacks like crisps too and will aim to get my 10,000 steps in even though my job is mostly office based and I'm sat on my bum all day!

Any tips gratefully received. I'm a larger 14 at the minute with a terrible flabby belly which I really want to reduce but can also see bloating in my face and arms too.

LooseAtTheSeams · 12/08/2019 08:31

Unfair - running and gardening have had zero effect! Hoping for delayed weight loss to appear tomorrow. I think we've all been jinxed!
I did have a lentil shepherd's pie last night but the mash was mainly sweet potato. Should have been ok. Sigh.
Have just eaten toast and marmite for breakfast so need to think of low carb-ish things for the rest of the day.

cricketmum84 · 12/08/2019 08:51

@DeadButDelicious while that's a gain for this month so far you really need to look at the bigger picture and how much you have lost so far. You have done amazingly. And we are not even halfway through the month yet so that could all turn around.

@catspyjamas27 welcome :)

Just for a change - no change..... my body has definitely shrunk but really need to see some pounds gone. I would like to run again but not doing that until I am 70kg because of my knees.
Day 4 of fitness blender 5 day fat burner tonight though!

Vebrithien · 12/08/2019 09:33

Morning all.

Had a fabulous weekend celebrating DD's birthday, thanks to all who gave advice on what to wear. I went for dress 1, the pinky peach wrap around one.
Had cake, scones, bread and WINE (!) over the weekend, so thought I'd better weigh myself this morning.
93.6 kg, which is almost a kilo down from the start of August, and given everything that's been happening, I am very happy with that!
We're off to Spain in 12 days time, and if I completely cut out bread, cake and alcohol, I hope to be able to get down to 92kg. It seems a magical number, as below that will be just overweight, not obese.

Today I've had a 2 egg and tomato omelette for breakfast, with black coffee.
Lunch will probably be a mini scone with cheese and homemade chutney.
Dinner is Vege meatballs with spaghetti and salad.
Off to check in for our flights now Grin

HollyTheHarrier · 12/08/2019 09:34

Morning everyone. I had a weekend (including Friday!) ‘off’ calorie counting and ate fairly badly although could have been worse. Back on it today and have planned meals for the week. Considering increasing my daily calories to 1400 but not offsetting exercise. It would make it easier to plan but on the flip side I don’t want to make life too difficult on days when I run 10+ miles and need a reasonable amount to eat. Anyone got experience of this?

BrillyPribble · 12/08/2019 09:37

Holding steady at 13st 2 for me. I feel smaller though, I will have to dig out the tape measure again. Up to 3 days of the 30 day exercise challenge yesterday, man that was hard work!! It's a yoga-type session today which is much more up my street. Doing it with the whole family which is great to keep motivation. My 8 year old keeps calling out 'keep going mummy, you are doing well!' 💗

BrillyPribble · 12/08/2019 10:22

Ok, have dug out a tape measure and measured waist and hips and have lost 1.5 inches of both since the start of the month! 😱
Admittedly at this stage I haven't eaten anything for 15.5 hours so will be at my slimmest for the day but still!! I'm feeling great! 😁

Seashell80 · 12/08/2019 10:24

Looks like I'm not the only one to have hit a wall this last week, still feeling motivated but really craving the bad stuff😡have managed to maintain 16st over the weekend-god knows how! So onwards and downwards 🙂

Seashell80 · 12/08/2019 10:27

Although on a positive, looks like I've lost some off my boobs-hurrah! They had been getting a bit out of control recently 😳

LooseAtTheSeams · 12/08/2019 10:43

Billy good tip about the tape measure!

Daisychainsgetbroken · 12/08/2019 11:27

@Seashell80 do you have a garmin or similar? I find it really helpful in terms of step count and stuff to give me a boost when struggling and I will go out for an extra wee walk to get step count up.

@Fluffiest have you tried the dress yet? I have a wedding in Sept and hav bi idea what to wear!

Just been for a 7k run, longest I have done for a while.

Seashell80 · 12/08/2019 11:53

@Daisychainsgetbroken yes I do have a fit bit style watch although I don't wear it every day-should do really!

Daisychainsgetbroken · 12/08/2019 12:03

@seashell80 I dont always wear mine. I mainly use it for pacing when running as I am crap at judging how fast I am going. It is good for boosting up exercise levels when I've gone off track. And you can set the step count reward thing as low as you like. Mine used to be on 6000. Now it is 10000 but do an achievable challenge for you or it is just demoralising. When years ago I was out of hosp after being unwell I set it to 2000 because at the time that was hard work for me. I like it when it does fireworks and buzzes that i have reached my goal.

Seashell80 · 12/08/2019 12:12

@Daisychainsgetbroken I have a farm in for running too, haven't run for a while though due to ongoing Achilles issue.Hoping a decent weight loss will help with that though, my knees are already feeling the benefit of the stone I've lost already 👊🏻

Seashell80 · 12/08/2019 12:12

Sorry that should read Garmin 🙄
