Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Dress 2 is my vote too

Vebrithien · 09/08/2019 15:03

(sorry for hijacking the thread, know this should go into style and beauty, but not sure how nicely they play over there!)
Third photo is dress 3 ...

PeriComoToes · 09/08/2019 15:27

Oh yes iswym.

I vote for the first dress the peachy wrap or dress 4 or 5.

Whoop! Whoop!

Achieved 7lbs off today,

Mostly through exercise I think but I’ve overhauled my diet to include a lot of protein and fibre,

3dogs2cats · 09/08/2019 16:46

So glad you’re coming back to yourself a bit, Vebrithien. I love seeing what we look like, definitely not a hijack.I like 1,4 and 5 too. Have a lovely time. You look great.well done to everyone, so much good news. I’m home from my holidays, but don’t want to weigh myself until the holiday constipation resolves itself.

sheshootssheimplores · 09/08/2019 16:55

Definitely dress 1 👌

LooseAtTheSeams · 09/08/2019 17:15

I love dress 1 and dress 4 looks v. good, too!

Tanaqui · 09/08/2019 17:27

I like dress 2! (And they are usually really lovely on style and beauty, do drop over!)

Congrats on all the victories. I have had nibbles- ham, olives, cheese grapes and one cracker, so not too bad, and no drinks. Just need to get through this evening without cracking!

Ionacat · 09/08/2019 20:40

Dress 1 - it looks lovely.
Well done on the victories!

Have not had a bad day so far - resisted looking at the scales as not seeing the needle move was depressing so I’ll wait a few days. Went out for lunch with the kids and opted for grilled chicken and salad and avoided all the unhealthy stuff on the salad cart. Just had the remains of last night’s quorn and sweet potato curry and desperately trying to resist the chocolate in the cupboard.

BrillyPribble · 09/08/2019 22:18

Mixed day today, was ravenous this afternoon so had lots of snacks. (Think poss PMT-related, it's hard to tell as I'm peri-menopausal). Went over calories a bit but still under 1400. And have started a 30 day 15 minute exercise challenge. Really enjoyed day 1, my dd did it with me too, she is super fit!

Ihatesundays · 09/08/2019 22:40

I’ve been doing a lot of Fitness Blender workouts. Did a slightly different one tonight that was a bit longer - I am totally wiped out!

Me and DD made rice crispy cakes today and I might have had one I ate two oops....

cricketmum84 · 09/08/2019 23:46

Not a bad day today at all. Had my salad for lunch, met my sister for a cheeky Friday lunchtime G&T. No snacks, work treats or iced lattes.

Meal out I had sizzling salmon fajita, basically a small grilled salmon fillet on a sizzling platter with peppers and onions plus 4 mini tortilla wraps, salad, cheese and sour cream. I ate the salmon and 2 of the wraps And gave most of the cheese to DD to put on her chicken burger.

DH mentioned again that he is worried about my lack of appetite. I think it's just a side effect of coming off the anti depressants, it's only been 2 weeks and I am struggling to have any enthusiasm for cooking or eating. Anyway it seems to be working!!

10st3.3 this morning which although I know is not really an increase and a hazard of daily weighing is still annoying! Off for a long hike today so hoping the weather isn't too bad- it looks better for tomorrow but I don't want to swap! Hope you all have a lovely and healthy weekend.

Fluffiest · 10/08/2019 08:13

Vebrithien I'm no help, I think I liked all the dresses! You've got good taste.

DH and I had a date night at home yesterday. Which meant a bottle of wine, profiteroles and some really good conversation. It also meant that I didn't get a run in and obs didn't stick to the diet but I had a really good night and don't regret it.

Today there is a local food festival that I think were going to have a look round this afternoon, literally a walk of temptation but I love the atmosphere of it, it's like a big street party!

lightlypoached · 10/08/2019 08:47

@cricketmum84 don't worry about the appetite thing. Once you start to eat healthily and get attuned to what your body needs it's hard for people around you to accept the drastic change in your eating habits (and quantities!)- what you are actually doing is 'normal' I think

And in terms of not being interested in cooking /prepping - very few of us are. Food's lovely when plonked in front of you but can be a daily faff if you're pooped and have other stuff going on. You'll start to find your new pattern soon and it will all fall into place.

Remember that what you are doing is not dieting, it's changing the way you eat forever - so you stay fit and a healthy weight. Smile people around you won't always 'get' it , especially when you turn down sweet stuff and junk that you liked before -because you just don't like or need it now. They may even try to persuade you. Just think about how many times you've seen it when people say they are vegan or veggie - people saying 'wii t you just have a fish finger?' and all that nonsense.
Do what works for you. You are making amazing progress and an inspiration to everyone on here.

cricketmum84 · 10/08/2019 09:27

@lightlypoached that all makes perfect sense. I think DH is a bit of a feeder to be honest, if he cooks he always dishes up huge portions and he's terrible for bringing treats home. He then looks disappointed when I don't eat. Last night he brought a pack of fresh doughnuts. I actually put my hand in the packet before I thought to myself "nope I don't want this".

He does the same with the veggie thing "aw go on it's only chicken" Hmm

Going to try hard to keep my routine this weekend and stay away from wine. May treat myself to some posh gin though and have a couple tonight.

Weighed in this morning at 20st 6 so that's another lb off and I've hit 7lbs since Monday! Am loving seeing these numbers drop!!
I desperately need to go jeans shopping as I almost lost mine walking to the car park yesterday and didn't have a spare hand to pull them up 😂 had to do a funny penguin type walk to keep them up 😂

Plan for today is:
B - coffee and an apple
L - usually skip lunch on a weekend but will have a couple of flat peaches or another apple if I'm hungry
D - LM burger, no bread, sweet potato wedges

Happy Saturday everyone!

No change again. But still getting smaller 🤷‍♀️

CoolLikeOvie · 10/08/2019 12:26

Hi everyone! Can I join?

I've been trying to lose weight since the 1st July, first calorie counting, then keto, then the BSD (I get bored easily Grin).

Went from 14st to 13st 5 in July. 13st 2 yesterday, though back up to 13st 3 today. Had a really shit day so ended up having 2 small glasses of wine, too much chocolate (though at least it was dark and didn't end up finishing the whole bar Shock) and bought some starburst on the way to the gym; I was craving sweets like never before. Ended up eating 2 on the way and wasn't even tempted by the rest after. Just gave them to DD so I don't end up eating the rest Blush

Barring that slip up yesterday, I've stuck to the (various) plans pretty much to the letter, which is unheard of for me. I've also given up smoking (10 weeks and counting), joined the gym and go 2-4 times a week and yesterday I bought a second hand Fitbit, which I'm loving. Was jogging on the spot last night to meet my step target Grin don't know where all this motivation and willpower has come from, but I'm making the most of it!

My first 'mini goal' is to get to 12st 7, where I'm a healthy BMI. Then 11st 7, when I'm a size 10-12 and don't completely despise my body. Might start thinking about online dating then too! My dream weight is 10st, which I was before I got pregnant. If I could get back to that before Christmas, I would be overjoyed.

Sorry for the essay! Enjoying reading through this thread and all your great results, v inspiring Star
