You should be absolutely fine with the recipes on all of the threads - the only thing you might need to watch is the oil/fat content as there is a need for lots of it if you’re properly low carbing, which doesn’t work well if you’re eating carbs alongside or in your other meals of the day - you can adjust for that pretty easily by using less oil, half the cheese, etc etc.

Well the speedy pizza was yum. Just using a half pitta as a base. Its the one at the top.tThe bit at the bottoms just a feta salad with tomatoes lettuce basil.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 19:58

Sounds delicious. I do actually feel a bit hungry tbh. I suppose cutting calories you are going to feel that way. I could murder some doritos!!

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 20:00

Try the speedy pizza @Laska2Meryls. I thoroughly recommend it.

NotAnActualSheep · 23/07/2019 20:29

That makes sense nink. Yes, I'll try the common sense approach 😊. (not too much cheese...)

Oh laska don't worry!! You said yourself you haven't seen DS for ages, and it won't hurt to have the odd blow out. At least you enjoyed it! If it had been a manky pizza you'd have regretted the calories... Speedy pizza looks great never. Mmmm olives... And feta.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 20:36

Does everyone count the calories up? Just wondering!
The thing that gets me is the amount of cooking I am having to do [from scratch] I cant see me being able to maintain this when I come home from work. Although I am enjoying the food its the prep and dishes :( There must be some tips. I am not a batch cooker. Maybe I need to become one!

I’ve just had keto butter chicken and cauliflower rice with homemade raita and spicy tomatoes and onion. It was bloody delicious.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 21:13

Oh @cherries, that sounds amazing. Any tips with the cauliflower rice? How do you do it? I read a bit about it.
Love the sound of the butter chicken too..yummy!
Do you ever feel hungry? or snack? Do you feed everyone the same as what you eat? Just wondering how you manage it.

So far, I haven't really missed my sugar fix. No idea why! I am a sugaraholic!!

OP posts:
whiskyremorse · 23/07/2019 21:17

Hi everyone 😉 8 don't fast or calorie count but broadly follow the blood sugar diet. Today has been berries and Greek yog (weekday breakfast taken to work) lunch is Salad with beetroot, feta and a few olives, and tea was roasted veg. I'm a veggie in case you've not spotted the lack of meat. Been eating loads of eggs and smoked tofu since I started this. Keen to try new things.
I use the packs of cooked puy lentils to bump up the protein in salads quickly.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 22:03

Oh I never knew you could get already cooked lentils. Where do you get the from? Sounds handy!

ilovecherries · 23/07/2019 22:52

never, I’m rarely hungry, or not in the way I used to be, where I would be hangry within 90 mins of eating. I also rarely snack. I have two decent meals a day and tend not even to think about food the rest of the time. I enjoy my meals, and I like cooking, but food is very much only fuel now rather than the panacea for very thought, emotion or feeling, which used to be very much the case.

Everyone eats the same as me, they add some carbs if they fancy it, but mainly they just eat my meals. I eat 8-10 portions of veg a day, plus a protein and some fat, mainly in the form of olive oil.

For the rice, I just blitz a cauliflower in the food processor, and give it a quick stir fry in a bit of olive oil, then add lemon, chilli, soy, coriander, Tabasco, salt etc depending on what its going with.

ilovecherries · 23/07/2019 23:30

True keto people eat a shit load of saturated fat, but I worked in public health far too long to be able to get my head round that. Butter chicken was just something we fancied tonight, but it’s rare. My fat mainly comes from oily fish, avocado and loads of olive oil. I cook everything from scratch though, and mainly eat unprocessed food.

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 23:31

I'm not too emotionally involved with food in the sense of cheering myself up with it [that's usually with clothes ha ha] although I do enjoy it. If I am worried about anything or stressed I find I cant eat well tbh. Infact If I am nervous I cant eat anything!
It so hard with kids trying to get them to eat the same thing as me so what I try to do is incorporate something of it, like the salad. My oldest dd is fantastic at eating all things - olives, salads etc. She is a complete foodie but hates anything with pastry! Lucky her. She loves raw veg. On the other hand my ds hates meat. I struggle to get him to eat any type really. He wont eat chicken as he is very fussy about the texture. Saying that he gets what I make generally and has to eat it unless its something I know he cant tolerate like olives! I try not to pander. When I was a child you ate what you had been given. There were no choices. Eat or go hungry.
Thanks for the idea with the cauliflower. Its sounds so tasty. Will definitely try it. You do make it sound so easy.
Final note - what do you drink? [non alcoholic of course] I am making a wee list of things to try!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 23:33

Oh I couldn't do a shit load of fat either. Sadly I am not keen on fish although in all fairness I haven't really tried that much.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 23:34

Well I like haddock but its not oily and tuna of course. I dislike salmon and the only other fish I have tried is smoked haddock. I don't mind prawns but that is all I have tried.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2019 23:34

Oh and I hate fish bones.

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 23/07/2019 23:39

To be honest, I drink mainly water. I’m very boring! I like fizzy water, and I keep a jug of tap water with either berries, apple slices or cucumber in the fridge to drink throughout the day. I drink a lot of mint tea - either peppermint or buttermint. Very weak black ordinary tea. One coffee a day. Sometimes I stick a fruit teabag into a bottle of fizzy water for something different. That’s it. No alcohol. I sound a right killjoy, don’t I.

ilovecherries · 23/07/2019 23:45

Oh I love fish. Hake, mackerel, plaice, sole, salmon, fresh tuna, monkfish, prawns, sardines, whitebait. Love them all, although I struggle with haddock - this sounds ridiculous but the sound of the word makes me shudder. I can eat it if I have to, but really don’t like the word. Cod I tend not to eat as I come from a family of deep sea fisherman and my grandad always used to talk about cod being a filthy bottom feeder, and wouldn’t have it in the house. I don’t even know if that’s true, but I’ve never eaten it.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/07/2019 00:47

You sound very healthy not boring at all.
Wish i could love fish but i was never brought up with it. I might like a meaty fish. I may try some one day. Funny how you dont like haddock! No idea about cod but i dont ear it either!

Sorry I didn’t respond about the juices... i’ve Turned into a two year old and have a middle ear infection. So odd. It’s not like I’ve been swimming.... Meanwhile, I don’t really use recipes. I have a bullet-type blender, so I hurl some green things in - whatever’s in the fridge, but usually cucumber, celery, kale or spinach, some parsley and mint and some berries or citrus for flavour, with some ice and some vitamin c powder to keep it from oxidizing if I’m taking it with me (and to keep me from oxidizing too). Blackberries make it a very lovely shade of poison. I am not afraid to use frozen berries or greens for convenience either.

justilou1 · 24/07/2019 07:03

Btw - I am not a fan of fish either. Love scallops and mussels, etc, but they’re gross where we live.
