Haha I don't think it's pregnancy bloating sadly. Just my body dealing with more calories than it's used to and 3 glasses of wine to flush from my system!

noodlezoodle · 17/08/2019 19:51

Drooling at everyone's dinners last night! Laska that curry looks amazing, you are a domestic goddess.

I'm sulking a bit today because it's weigh in day and I only lost a pound. Never mind, it's the right direction I suppose and I shall just keep trundling on.

Ellapaella · 19/08/2019 12:53

Okay I'm joining in... back from Devon and weighed myself and I've put on half a stone. I can feel it too.. everything's a little tight around the waist and I feel sluggish. Too many cream teas, pastries and treats! I was lulled into a false sense of security as it was such an active holiday - I was walking around 12k a day and lots of body boarding which is physically hard work in strong currents and big waves.
I tend to skip breakfast anyway so not sure if I'll do fast days but today I've started healthy and just had a salad, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, avocado, a hard boiled egg and some tuna. All with just a smidgen of dressing. Tonight is seabass with capers and new potatoes and lots of veg. I'm doing a booze and caffeine free week too. How are you all tracking your calories?

Huffthepuff · 19/08/2019 13:53

Hey Ella! I used My Fitness Pal to log calories. The free version of the app is really easy to use

Had a slightly relaxed weekend but no 'high carbs' or sweets still. We did have a couple of glasses of fizz last night though... back on it today. No alcohol till next weekend now

neveradullmoment99 · 19/08/2019 19:45

I use an app too. I have been good apart from fish and chips on Friday. I had spiralised courgettes snd meatballs and past sauce. For lunch it was yoghurt and an apple and a dairylea dunkers cause i was lazy!

Well looks like I have dropped about 4lbs. At last. Thought the scales were never going to show weight loss! Yet I am very definitely thinner. Tonight I am feeling a little deprived. Feel like eating some chocolate and some crisps but don't want too as I feel I have just started to see the scales go down.
How is everyone else doing? @Laska2Meryls how is your weightloss?

noodlezoodle · 22/08/2019 01:38

Well done never that's brilliant! I'm feeling a bit deprived as well - just been to the supermarket and found it veeeery difficult to walk past the pre-cut slices of cake. Managed it though!

Laska2Meryls · 22/08/2019 07:16

weight this morning and I am still the ruddy flipping same!! grrrr

I know what the problems are, 1. Wine although I have had very little this week and 2 ,Dh being retired,.. he keeps making delicious dinners every evening, .( I always used to have a sort of snack dinner during the week, mainly just a bit of veg. His dinners are not unhealthy , but its more than I usually eat, and . I need to cut out eating lunch during the day I think..
time for a regroup (although today I am going out to lunch with my DF ad DB!!) Hmm

We have just booked a city break in Porto for early October..Dh was give a wine tour as a retirement present I think i need to get out some jeans that dont fit (i have a few of those) And hang them on my wardrobe door as a goal..as I shall be wanting to wear jeans again then.. I have 6 weeks!!

Ellapaella · 22/08/2019 08:20

Well done Never. It's frustrating when it takes so long to show any loss on the scales. Often when I start watching what I eat I increase my exercise and that actually makes it take longer to show any weight decrease, probably due to a bit of fluid retention and muscle build up.
I'm on my fitness pal now and have a calorie allowance of 1,650 a day. If any of you have tips of healthy lunches that aren't salads I'd be so grateful, salad gets a bit boring after a while!
I've just signed up to start a yoga class in September. With my youngest now starting school it means I'll have all day weds and Thursday to myself so decided to start yoga and make sure I take the dog for some very long walks.

noodlezoodle · 22/08/2019 16:38

Laska I haven't lost anything so far this week either, although my 'official' weigh in isn't til Saturday. I'm deciding to put my faith in the whoosh effect mentioned upthread, it's very comforting Grin

Ella, if I'm home at lunchtime I do scrambles for lunch when I'm fed up of soup and salads. Current favourite is a couple of eggs scrambled with sliced mushrooms and a sliced mango chicken sausage. (America is very keen on chicken sausages, I'd never heard of them before I moved here). Also like this blt baked eggs: helloglow.co/breakfast-egg-cups-recipes/
Or a jacket potato with some light philadelphia or some light grated cheese and a bit of salad on the side - not 100% healthy but would prob fit OK into 1650 calories.

Laska2Meryls · 22/08/2019 16:53

I had hot smoked salmon salad for lunch,so not so bad I may have nicked a couple of my brother's chips

Laska2Meryls · 22/08/2019 16:57

noodle luckilyA local free range chicken farm makes their own sausages here, I love the chicken lemon ones

neveradullmoment99 · 22/08/2019 18:26

Oh god it was really challenging at dinner time. I made rosemary and garlic mini roast potatoes with olive oil. OMG, I did nick a few too @Laska2Meryls. I had made an enormous amount of bulgar wheat. Had it for my dinner one night and left the rest. Had some for lunch with feta, olives et. Made a stir fry with it using peas and bbq chicken pieces. Oh it was lovely. Like chicken fried rice! Then tonight I had Pork and fennel meatballs from Tesco with a lovely smokey tomato dip and plain salad. It was super yummy!!

neveradullmoment99 · 22/08/2019 18:28

Anway, need to tally it all up. Think I will be slightly over as I had two hard boiled eggs for breakfast and a Ryvita. Then the bulgar wheat. Thenk the meatballs [They were cold but you can heat them up] for dinner.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 22/08/2019 18:35

That was 816 calories [Not including the mini roasts] but I will have a coffee and that will most likely be it. I could be tempted by a yoghurt.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 22/08/2019 18:54

Just had a cherry light and free yoghurt so now closer to 900 cals but tbh I have feeling deprived since yesterday and have been really good keeping it to under 800 most days.

Yay Never! Glad the scales are finally catching up with the reality. Have you been taking measurements? That might be a better way of plotting progress for you?

How's everyone doing today?

neveradullmoment99 · 23/08/2019 09:00

I still feel a bit fed up. I feel this weight loss is just taking foreverSad i know I've lost weight but i honestly haven't been cheating, its been weeks of calorie counting and the weight loss on the scales is minor. Its just not fair. It really sucks being in your 50's. If i ate this little in the past, i would have lost a ton of weight by now. Sorry for the rant. Trying to not let it get to me...

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/08/2019 09:02

I know the scales aren't important. They are a number and i am way slimmer but my bmi according to the calculator is still saying i am overweight🥺 its shit!

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/08/2019 09:03

I am 26 and it says 25 so not by much but still...

Huffthepuff · 23/08/2019 09:04

I've finished my two weeks now. Just done final weigh in and I've lost 11 lbs. I'm assuming 4 pounds of that is water which will go straight back on when I eat more carbs. My aim now is to loose another 2-3 pounds or so over the next few weeks before my holidays. My denim shorts finally fit agin! But are still a bit tight so a few more pounds off would make them more flattering

Huffthepuff · 23/08/2019 09:06

Never that does suck. I'm so impressed with how long you've stuck with it. I definitely have been quite lax in this last week. 800 calories is basically nothing!

Ellapaella · 23/08/2019 09:30

@Huffthepuff you've lost 11lbs in 2 weeks? That is pretty impressive! I think I just need to stop eating snacks and treats as my actual diet is quite healthy. MFP tells me I'm eating too much fat which is interesting as there is a lot of research to say that eating a little full fat dairy etc is better than eating the low fat options as they are packed full of corn starch which is just carbohydrate so I never touch the low fat stuff. Actually at the hospital having blood tests now, getting my cholesterol checked so it'll be interesting to see.
@neveradullmoment99 it is so frustrating - you'll possibly get a sudden drop in the next week or two? I think it's possible that some people retain a lot of fluid in the first few weeks of dieting and their metabolisms slow down a little.

Laska2Meryls · 23/08/2019 09:39

it does get harder no doubt, I could whizz of half a stone in my 20s and 30s , now in my 60s have to eat basically nothing and do proper 500 fasting two or three days a week . I am not doing this atm, but I am coming to the conclusion that i simply going to have to again..
the good thin about that is that if i dont do it at weekends i dont feel deprived, but it does mean Mondays Weds and possibly also thurs for me.

. I tried cherries super low carb , but it doesnt really do it for me . i just get really constipated !!
