Best way to lose 3 st

DottieLottie1 · 13/05/2019 12:31

So, I've obviously buried my head in the sand. This morning I realised my go to comfy clothes are in the wash. I've basically been wearing leggings and baggy tops for the last year or so. I tried on a top I haven't worn for a while and my oh my it looks terrible! I thought enough is enough and braved the scales- I'm 13st 4, the heaviest I've ever been! I'm 5ft 9.

4 years ago I was just over 9 stone and a small size 8.

My ideal weight is around the 10st mark.

I've never eaten breakfast or lunch but have a large dinner. This can be something extremely healthy or the polar opposite 😬 I don't really snack on anything. I drink just Tea without sugar and occasional sugar free soft drinks. I assume my downfall is my love of Prosecco.

I'm fairly active as my job is physical.

Where am I going wrong? I know I should cut out the wine. I've tried eating breakfast, lunch and dinner but gain weight.

What diet would be best?

TIA

Another hungry day but I'll do it. I've been on this diet for 3 weeks and 3 days and only felt hungry twice in that time. Why?

Yay another 3lb lost this week. I'm not finding things too difficult. Had to say no to an ice cream at an event yesterday, but had a take away in the evening.

So starting weight-

13.04

Week 1: -0.04
Week 2: -0.01
Week 3: -0.03
Week 4: -0.03

Total lost so far 11lbs

Goal weight 10st flat.

35lbs to go....

Feeling motivated and positive. To all those who are in the same boat, we've got this Smile

I'm posting just to keep myself accountable. I'm determined to get back into some beautiful dresses I own- even just for a few years. Might look a little silly a +40 when I last wore them at 36!!!

I’m reading your thread and will be following with interest and hoping you continue so well
I have 5kg to lose and can’t seem to muster the I energy for it and feel so
Disappointed in myself. So am finding this motivating.
I don’t have an answer as to why you aren’t hungry more.. maybe most of the calories you were consuming before were ‘empty’ calories - Prosecco sure is. Perhaps now, even though you have decreased calories you have increased food with fibre, pectin, slow-releasing. Just an idea

DottieLottie1 · 16/06/2019 00:01

Thanks @Bedforaweek, you might be right!

I haven't had a huge response from this thread but feel if I keep posting it will spur me on. Just afraid it's a little too self absorbed ,it's not meant to be

@Bedforaweek,you need to get your head in the right place before anything will work, You can do this!

I've still 2st + to go but I'm going to do it (trying my hardest and crossing everything! )

@DottieLottie1 Your loss so far looks spot on!! Are you calorie counting or following a particular plan?

DottieLottie1 · 17/06/2019 22:01

Calorie counting @Thismummyruns but not eating any chocolate, cakes or crisps etc. Still drinking Prosecco but cut right down. Keeping to 1200 cal or less- if I do drink I adjust my food intake accordingly. Ditto if I have a take away.

OP posts:
Thismummyruns · 18/06/2019 11:35

I've started using MFP again and set mine to around 1400 cals per day. OH is a saboteur and constantly buys the crap I don't buy purposely on the weeks shop. My willpower is about 50/50 at the mo.
Following your thread!

DottieLottie1 · 18/06/2019 12:46

As soon as I realised how much weight I had actually put on it gave me the kick up the butt I needed. As I've seen the weight come off it's making me feel more and more positive. I'm just a little concerned I will get to a point and not be able to shift any more. 10st is realistic for me, I was 9st 2lb 4 years ago but that's not sustainable.

If you can get in the right mindset @Thismummyruns your will power will come. Don't deny yourself of treats completely but factor it in and adjust accordingly.

Thismummyruns · 20/06/2019 06:14

@DottieLottie1 If you're quite active with your job then you should be okay. Obviously the loss will slow but I wouldn't imagine you not reaching your goals, you just might have to switch it up a bit to kick start your body again.

I've been far more mindful of what I've been eating this week which is a start, rather that shovelling any & everything in! Waiting for my post-partum check before I start exercising again, cannot wait to get out for a little run. I know that will give me the confidence boost to make changes.

DottieLottie1 · 24/06/2019 08:51

Hi all,

Week 6- 2lb loss

Total loss to date- 15lb

2lb to a healthy BMI range.

31lb to goal weight.

I'm not finding it particularly difficult it's tricky however when your plans suddenly change. I haven't admitted to anyone IRL that I'm dieting and it's not obvious as I'm eating the same but are mindful of portion size. DH decided on an impromptu BBQ on Friday which scuppered my plans a bit. So my only criticism of being low calorie is the slight onset of panic when plans change.

Will keep plodding on.

OP posts:
Thismummyruns · 24/06/2019 13:57

Well done @DottieLottie1
Looks very positive to date! What did you eat from the BBQ? I love a good barbie!

I weighed myself this morning, slightly disappointed as I've been really good with the night snacking and turning down a cheeky McDonald's but AF has arrived so putting it down to that. Can't remember if periods affect weight before or during so hoping when I weigh next week I'll have a better picture of where I'm at.

MrsPee12 · 24/06/2019 14:02

Well done just over a stone in 6 weeks!

DottieLottie1 · 24/06/2019 15:02

I went with a few small chicken thighs (not marinated), 1 burger and a small piece of chorizo sausage. Loads and loads of salad, corn and a few crispies. No alcohol. Grin

Yes, 1st1lb in 6 weeks but no ones noticed!!! My clothes are a lot looser and I can see my tummy and thighs have shrunk.

Periods can make you gain weight due to hormonal fluctuations, weigh yourself again next week!

OP posts:
Thismummyruns · 25/06/2019 12:35

Sounds like a successful bbq! It's so easy to go crazy but well done for good choices and abstaining from alcohol!

I've been a bit naughty the past few days and haven't been eating breakfast. Hoping to try and kick start my metabolism and eating when I feel hungry rather than just for the sake of it. It's made me really appreciate what I'm eating when I do eat.

Fingers crossed for a better weigh in next week 🤞🏼

Thismummyruns · 29/06/2019 18:31

How you doing Dottie? I caved to the sour cream dip and crisps last night, but how amazing they were Grin

LittleDoritt · 29/06/2019 18:35

Wow Dottie, you are doing so well!

WantedAChatterbox · 29/06/2019 19:04

You have inspired me - 2 stones to lose I am going to start right now despite eating a whole tub of ice cream to myself today Blush

DottieLottie1 · 01/07/2019 08:56

Good luck @WantedAChatterbox, which method are you going to use? You can do this!

As for me I had a good week but only lost 1lb. Yes, it's a loss but feeling a bit disappointed as if it had been 2lb I'd be inside my healthy BMI range. Hopefully next week!

Starting weight 13st 4lb
Today's weight 12st 2lb (7weeks)
Goal Weight 10st 0lb
Weight loss to go, 30lbs

B- Vanilla and almond milk shake (homemade but similar to a protein shake)
L- Hot Choc made with almond milk (cuts the calories down a lot), mixed berries
D- Skinny Meatballs 5% fat and spaghetti in a tomato sauce.

Someone on another thread asked if I was on a meal replacement type of diet. Although it may boil down to the same thing, I have never eaten breakfast or lunch in adulthood. Baby steps and all I'm trying to have something at these meal times.

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Beebeezed · 01/07/2019 09:03

My diet starts today! 3 month old baby and ready to start feeling myself again. Weight: 12 stone. Goal weight:10 stone. Please keep this thread going OP I’m feeling motivated by you.

DottieLottie1 · 01/07/2019 09:18

Will do @Beebeezed, congratulations on the birth of your baby!

Of course we are going to have wobbles on the way, but if we give up it's straight back to square one.

Once I've shifted this excess weight (I will, I'm determined to) Im going to have to find how many calories I need to maintain the weight. I'm not taking my eye off the ball again and will keep weighing in regularly. I'm also motivated at a) getting back in my slim clothes b) buying a whole set of knew clothes that will not become my next set of slim clothes Hmm.

OP posts:
HarryHenderson · 01/07/2019 09:34

@DottieLottie1 you have done amazingly well! You seem really in the zone... I love that feeling!

Had a nasty shock this morning when I weighed in at 12st on the dot. I haven't weighed this much since I had my youngest 3 years ago.
It's not good, I need to change.
The worst part is, it's all across my midsection, which is obviously the worst for your health (not to mention trying to find clothes that flatter!)

So I'm starting today, back on MFP, 1200 calories.
Can I join your thread? I need some accountability and you are very motivating!
