Half a stone off in Feb

Smarshian · 04/02/2019 08:12

So I started a half stone thread in Jan and managed to lose 4lb as I lost motivation half way through. Still feeling positive though and want to achieve the full 7lb this month.
Any diet/exercise routine welcome and tips and tricks encouraged. I will be continuing with slimming world (loosely) and I’m training for a 10k next month so regular runs.

What are your weigh in days this week? After an up and down week last week I’m hoping for a small loss tomorrow.

Smarshian · 17/02/2019 21:34

My weigh in day is Tuesday. I’ve had an up and down week but went for a 10k run tonight so at least my training is going well. Hoping for another small loss this week.

I think I will weigh in Tuesday.

TickVG · 17/02/2019 21:58

I'm officially weighing in wed, though I do have an unfortunate habit of weighing myself most days! Re sandwiches I've had a nice toastie for lunch recently using about 40g mozzarella with tomato. Another day I used a weight watchers wrap (about 113 calls) and put peppers, mozzarella, bit of lean bacon and spinach on top for a fake pizza! But generally I have skinny soups for lunch as they make me feel full for 120ish cal. Had roast beef with parents today for so although I had healthy-ish accompaniments, along with pudding it still ended up about 800 cal in total. Had a soup dinner and in theory haven't gone over my 1400 limit but my lunch calc is a bit of an estimate so hoping I get away with it!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 17/02/2019 22:47

Bananas and avocados are frustrating, for all the health benefits they really ought to be lower calories - who do I complain to?!

Went for a dinner at a friends last night and it was 3 courses and I was so full it hurt so I def went well over, probably a fuck it button was pushed by the total non moving scales. Going to change it up this week and will be the same deficit in total but stick to 1200 daily calories and do 5:2 as well and see if that makes a difference

SingaporeSlinky · 18/02/2019 08:15

IJumped Grin if you find out, I shall complain too! Particularly avocados.

Maybe I’ll try soups for lunch instead of sandwiches then, I get frustrated logging bread calories as I don’t even enjoy the bread part. Unless it’s a baguette, mmm.

No change on the scales for me this morning but I’ll try again tomorrow. I’ve been on this thread for 11 days now and only 2 lbs lost so I need to focus this week.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 17:23

I weighed in today

Start weight
09th Feb - 12st 2.9 lbs
Today's weight
18th Feb - 11st 13.2lbs

4lb total loss

SingaporeSlinky · 18/02/2019 18:17

Well done Funky!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 18:37

Thank you ☺️

I'm pleased. 2 stone to go!

TickVG · 18/02/2019 19:21

Fab weight loss funky! Argh yeah I had avocado today as part of a salad at a friend's house. She had cooked some really nice pizza and I sneaked a quick look at the box to get the calories- 200 a slice! So just had one and a bit of salad. Pleased to have had avocado rather than a 2nd slice of pizza but yes it really doesn't feel worth the calories! Going to get out for a run tomorrow in the hope of optimising the burn ahead of wed weigh in...

Smarshian · 18/02/2019 19:22

I’m very hopeful of a loss tomorrow. I’ve been very good this weekend and done some extra runs this week so fingers crossed! 🤞

Congratulations @funky

I'll check back tomorrow to see how everyone is doing 😁

Smarshian · 19/02/2019 07:52

So I’ve weighed in this morning and I’m down to 10st 3.5lb. I started the month at 10st 5. Slow going and I’m trying not to be disheartened. In the past I’ve always lost weight quite quickly but I think that’s because I’ve always been overweight whereas now I’m within a healthy bmi (just!) it’s taking longer to come off.
Started the year at 10st 8.5lb so I’m trying to look at the long term progress and although my title thread is somewhat ambitious the number is still going down. I’m also getting fitter and probably building a bit of muscle mass with my training.

Well done Smarshian - like you say, it’s still a loss.
I’m at 10st 2 today so basically no change this week, but I’ve not been great on the snacks so I’m just happy I haven’t gone up again.
I’m going to stay with family for a long weekend so I won’t be able to count my calories, but I’ll try really hard to just have small portions of whatever dinners will be (they tend to pile the plates high) and not snack.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 19/02/2019 11:28

Loss or maintain still good outcomes :)

At work so will read properly later :)

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 19/02/2019 16:20

Yes Samarshian maintains is better than gaining!

I’m so disheartened by no movement after a v low calorie week

TickVG · 19/02/2019 18:55

Well done on on your overall loss this month smarshian - I agree it's a marathon not a sprint. I looked back at my old MFP records from after last pregnancy and there are big losses then I appear to maintain the same for ages- then more losses (as I was clearly yo-yoing back up and probably didn't want to record the gains!). Overall doing it that way took 2 years! Doing it in a sustainable way- and strengthening your body at the same time is probably still quicker and definitely better in the long term! And I'm with you Singapore on staying with family- easiest thing seems to be to eat the same but portion control. Though that's sometimes easier said than done when lots of snacks on offer between meals! I've mostly held out so far/had my own low cal snacks but can feel myself wavering....

SingaporeSlinky · 19/02/2019 19:08

Tick the family are definitely feeders, bowls of chocolates, crisps and nuts out constantly. Wine glass put in my hand even after I’ve said no thanks! But they know I’m aiming to lose weight for holiday so I will have to insist on dishing up my own plate otherwise it’ll be twice the size it should. And I’ll try and go for some walks too.

2 slices of garlic bread with dinner tonight took me over my 1200. Not sure it was even worth it as I’m really bloated now.

I tried using my stairs at home as a free workout today, I’d read that 15 minutes a day will really tone your body. So I set the timer and managed a whole 2 minutes Blush before I was really out of breath. I really am very unfit!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 19/02/2019 19:17

I think I need to move my body more and DH certainly does so we’ve made a plan this week taking it in turns to take the DC to school so the other one can go climbing or for a bike ride

TickVG · 19/02/2019 19:22

Ooh did you run up and down them? I worked with a royal marine once who did it in our building and said it was an absolute killer! DIY HIIT exercise! Ooh that's good that your family will be understanding re food. Going to my ILs later this week who, while not deliberately sabotaging, will make it much harder than my own family are doing. They will also doubtless pump my DD with even more sweet treats to compensate Hmm Had a really nice and super low cal spicy chickpea and lentil stew (SW recipe) but have compensated up to my cal limit with a sliver of one of my DM's gooey flapjacks.....

SingaporeSlinky · 19/02/2019 20:00

Not even running, just walking up and down. 15 mins sounded easy but wasn’t! To be fair I could have gone a bit longer but I was breathing so heavily I just though “that’s enough for one day!” Ha ha

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 19/02/2019 21:02

My parents arrive in 2 weeks for 2.5weeks and are feeder (and drinkers!) too

TickVG · 20/02/2019 07:45

10st 9 this morning so I've maintained since sat. Not tooo bad. Since last wed I've lost 3lbs so pleased with overall progress. Just need to keep up momentum. This last stone will be haaaaard

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 20/02/2019 14:52

Thought I'd weigh myself again today 🥴

Start weight - 09.02
= 12st 2.9lbs

Today weight 20.02
= 11st 11.8lbs

Total loss - 5lbs ish

I'm pretty chuffed with that. Off to the hospital soon for a long awaited appointment. Hope everyone is having a good day

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 20/02/2019 19:19

That’s great Funky
