Anyone starting a new diet tomorrow? Want to be diet buddies? Im 14st7lb my heaviest ever at 5ft4. Need some motivation and willpower. Going to be doing meal substitution with shakes twice a day to kickstart my diet. Was meant to start early in January but it didn’t happen and I’ve slipped. Will be doing My Fitness Pal too.

Mornin' all

Just done my weigh in for this week

Starting weight - 11 stone 4

Today - 11 stone 1

Pleased with that - really want to stick with it again this week, always so hard to maintain that second week as it seems to get boring and the crisps will start calling to me!!

@reckless - your potato recipe is exactly like my mum's scalloped potatoes - apart from she used milk instead of cream, and a dusting of flour on each layer of spuds.

recklessgran · 30/01/2019 08:25

Morning all. Up early for weigh day Wednesday.
Start weight last Monday 14st 1lb
Today 13st 10lbs
So, five pounds down - very happy with that but I know from past experience it will be slow going from here. Fast days are fine but I'm still making unhealthy choices on non fast days. Need to fix that if I want to get anywhere with this in the long run.
Thanks for the compliment re recipe @MrsMummy - step away from the potatoes that dish is about the highest density calories in food that there is and should carry a health warning! Thank you so much for this thread - I think we are all grateful for somewhere to come with our thoughts that we don't necessarily want to share with anyone in real life.

MrsMummyBx · 30/01/2019 09:37

Morning everyone

WEIGH IN

Monday 21/1 14st 7lb
Wednesday 23/1 14st 3lb
Wednesday 30/1 14st 0lb

Total loss:7lb

V pleased with that but reckless I totally agree with you- it’s the next bit that will be hard- but we can do it!!

Also reckless you can see the next stone down on the scales (13) - I can’t wait for that! Hopefully I will see a number 13 on the scales next week!!

Weigh day - I am 14st again so put on a pound I think (really cannot remember what it was!!) but back on it today nevertheless. Not feeling too disheartened as I enjoyed my relaxing break! I have got 8 weeks exactly to lose a dress size at least - need to up my game now!

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/01/2019 10:07

Weigh in

12st 6.4lbs

Considering I've only been tracking for 2 day properly, a 0.2lb gain seems fair.
Had a hard night with DS so getting my hair cut and having a quiet afternoon here.

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/01/2019 10:08

Well done for all the losses so far!

TinselAndKnickers · 30/01/2019 10:13

Boggle - I am also getting my hair cut today! Hope your DS is okay this morning Thanks

MrsMummyBx · 30/01/2019 10:16

boggle and tinsel enjoy your well deserved “me time” at the hairdressers!

Well done @MrsMummy that's an amazing loss. - it was actually seeing the 14 on the scales that made me act. I have been between 13st 3 and 13st 11 for as long as I can remember but never in my life up into 14 even when 9 months pregnant. So for me seeing a 12 something would be a big deal but it will be some time before I get there if ever.
@Tinsel I normally put on a few pounds when away - don't we all? I think a one pound gain is brilliant under the circumstances. You'll soon lose that and more.
Going to clean upstairs now in between work. Bathroom looking a bit grim and need to feed the washing machine.
Fast day here so soup only. Nothing so far as trying to eat only between 12 and 6.

TinselAndKnickers · 30/01/2019 10:53

Thanks MummyB! Well done on your loss that is amazing, and well done everyone else you are all doing very well!

Reckless - I suppose so! Back on it today.

Bagel thin with lightest philly and smoked salmon for breakfast

ChubsyMcChubFace · 30/01/2019 11:40

Hi all!

Wow, well done on all the weight losses!

I weighed myself today, though my last weigh in was only Saturday. Annoyingly, I’m exactly the same weight; 12 stone 1. Oh well. I have been cheating rather a lot!

I don’t think I’ll stick to raw veganing very much longer either, but it’s been a really useful change for me. It’s been interesting to see how surprisingly easy it is to base all my meals on plants only. That’s something I wouldn’t normally do. I’ll definitely aim to keep my diet from now on to mainly plants, in their most natural form if I can, although I will definitely start cooking some of them soon.

recklessgran · 30/01/2019 12:06

@Chubsy don't be down hearted - I was the same weight last Thursday as I am today, so, lost a lot quickly but since then nothing. Hoping that isn't it and that the general trend will be downwards. I know I need to exercise more but I'm so lazy and drive everywhere-even in to the village. Need to give myself a talking to.

ChubsyMcChubFace · 30/01/2019 12:30

Thanks reckless Flowers.

I’ve just worked out the calories in a serving of my homemade nut milk Shock! No wonder I haven’t lost any weight! Will have to go easy on that in the future then - it’s about as bad as drinking double cream 😂🤦‍♀️.

I also need to do some exercise. As well as feeling overweight I feel the opposite of toned. I have zero strength in my core and even my previously slim parts are getting flabby Sad. Yes! Firm talking to required. I’m going to walk dc to nursery this pm and will definitely do a dvd tonight; maybe yoga or 30 day shred if I can face it.

Can totally do this reckless Smile!

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/01/2019 15:50

I think I have a poached egg on toast obsession... Blush had it for lunch. Again!

DS got his hair cut with me, for a 13m old his hair grows so quickly!!
He's had a good lunch and nap and is watching CBeebies!

Basa fillets, potato waffle and veg for dinner tonight. I'm really hoping to keep up my good work but have meal out with DH on Friday as we've been together 10 years tomorrow. DM is having DS over night which will be a nice break for us. And Sunday we are at MILs for Sunday lunch (except it's not a roast) so the food and drink will be flowing as normal!

Bacardi101 · 30/01/2019 16:55

Well done on everyone’s losses that’s amazing!!!!
chubsy sorry made me chuckle a bit of the calories in the nut milk as this is something 100% I would do and no feeling down about the weigh in you’ve got this!

0.5 gain is amazing after a break away I’d be more towards the 5lbs!!

Annoying I can’t weigh in on the same day as you all my DP has to put me on the floor to weigh (wheelchair user) it’s honestly not a pretty site! On all fours half naked in the kitchen! The poor neighbours!

TinselAndKnickers · 30/01/2019 17:02

@Bacardi101 no worries, we are here for you whenever you fancy a weigh in!

Had my hair cut - missed lunch as it took so long so wholegrain spicy rice, chicken and veg for dinner again Grin

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/01/2019 17:55

I've changed dinner to home made mac and cheese. I've weighed it all out and dropped the amount of cheese and it's all within my daily calories! Basa fillet can be tomorrow as it's frozen Smile

Any plans tonight ladies?

ChubsyMcChubFace · 30/01/2019 19:02

Yet another night in for us boggle!

In terms of food, I’m planning a tomato and olive salad for dh and me. Breakfast was a celery, spinach, apple and banana smoothie. Lunchtime was a bit manic here, so I ended up eating... you guessed it, my dcs’ leftovers! A decidedly unvegan, unraw, large piece of toast with butter and jam... Blush.

bacardi, please don’t worry about laughing at my mistake! I laughed myself. So typical!!! Reminds me of my friend who kept ordering lattes with ‘half and half’ in New York, as she thought it was like semi skimmed milk 😆. She wondered why the baristas were a bit Hmm. Very funny.

Planning some nice cooked, plant based meals for tomorrow. Easy on the cashews though Confused.

recklessgran · 30/01/2019 19:37

@Chubsy your calorific milk reminded me of my mistake when on holiday last year. I don't know what I was thinking but I spent a week all inclusive drinking Baileys and ice out of half pint glasses because I though it would be better than JD and coke. I had NO idea! No wonder I put on weight even though I was much more active than usual and was very careful at the buffet. DD's thought it hilarious when I told them.DH is of course clueless as he has never had to concern himself with the calorie content of anything.
Have been good so far today as only had a bowl of soup so far but just about to indulge in some roast beef and roasted veg, won't be too bad I think. DH seems worried that I need a "proper meal" as he puts it. Have chicken salad lined up for tomorrow. Still trying to keep away from the carbs - well the obvious ones anyway.
@YouBoggle I think I like basa - is it a bit like plaice? Might try that if so as running out of ideas for low cal dinners.
After that it's knitting for me so I can keep my hands busy - evenings are a bit dangerous for picking I find especially in the winter months.
Have a good evening everyone.

YouBoggleMyMind · 30/01/2019 20:03

Basa is lovely! We eat these but you can get them without coating on them!

Bacardi101 · 30/01/2019 22:11

That sounds lovely!!! I ended up having paprika chicken sweet potato mash and green beans which was actually not bad!

ChubsyMcChubFace · 31/01/2019 08:20

Morning all!

Grin reckless at your Bailey’s story. So easily done though! You think you’re making a healthier choice and, nope! It’s a minefield this dieting lark. I think for me it’s a case of “a little knowledge... etc etc”.

Those meals^^ look lovely!

Is anyone else watching the Tom Kerridge program that was on last night? I love it! I’m a total sucker for all things Tom Kerridge! But it really is a good program. Anyway, they were talking about exercise last night. How is everyone doing with their fitbits? I started going jogging a couple of weeks ago, but I really don’t fancy it in this weather! Fairweather jogger. I’m thinking of signing up to some classes at the gym...

So far, I’ve just had a cup of tea this morning, but I have some lovely veg in the fridge for later. Thinking of doing roast aubergine & tomatoes with courgetti for dinner. Children won’t eat that though, sigh. Maybe something else then.

I think I need to find a ‘diet’ where we can all eat the same thing...

recklessgran · 31/01/2019 12:44

Afternoon all. Should have been a fast day yesterday but I was so hungry that I caved and had roast beef and roast veg with DH last night. Don't think it was too many calories. I'm sticking to eating in the 1-7 window as I think this is a good and natural way to cut down the opportunity to keep mindlessly eating/snacking and makes me think a bit harder about what exactly I'm doing. 3 DGC coming for dinner tonight so I am making cheeseburgers and chips for them with jelly and icecream for pudding. These 3 are twins 13 and a 10 year old but still love this kind of dinner. They come every Thursday and let me know each week what they'd like for dinner next week. Bless them, I'm guessing it won't be long before they won't want to come and spend time with Gran and Grandad after school so I'm making the most of it.
DH will probably have the same as the DGC but I am sticking to my already planned Chicken and salad. Do you think coleslaw would be too naughty? I don't have dressing of any kind but do like a good whack of coleslaw.
Hope everyone is doing O.K. We can do this!

YouBoggleMyMind · 31/01/2019 15:19

A successful food day yesterday and I've had tomato soup and bread for lunch. Not sure what to have for dinner as I've been food shopping this afternoon so plenty on offer.
We may get snow here that stops us from going out tomorrow even so I got us a back up plan instead!
