A stone by Christmas

Shalll · 29/10/2018 07:22

Is it possible and who will join me?

This stone has been with me for many years now since youngest was born... five years ago! I really want it gone especially as the weight is mainly around my middle.

So starting today:
Weight 11.8 stone or 75kg
Height 5.7 or 1.70

Using my fitness pal with target daily calories of 1,200. Aiming to reduce sugar / carbs and increase water intake. Exercise when possible but it's a juggling act with kids/work, maybe 3 workouts per week plus walk when I can.

Would love some company!

Well done all - loving reading the food diaries. Over here I’m ooohhh ... arrhhhh... good lunch.. what a good example to set ... must do better myself and keep in with tummy reducing friends 😁

I am doing 5:2 diet... on the 2 days I have a pot of already chopped carrots/peppers and cucumber and literally snaffle and graze all day as brain seems happy as mouth is chomping!

My biggest issue is that other half says ‘you look fine, don’t worry about it’.. and brings home crisps from work and opens wine etc. That and eating leftovers from the kids. I’d give it to the dog but vet says she is over weight so on a diet too!

It’s approaching lunchtime - good luck all. BE strong .........

helenb706 · 02/11/2018 12:56

So yesterday (Day 1) went well all day, even forgoing my free latte in the supermarket for a cup of tea with soya(yuck but better than nothing). Went to the gym, polished my halo at teatime, went to open evening at the school... then the open bottle of white wine called me. So cross with myself but at least I didn't then hit the crisps and chocolate.

Got up early this morning and went spinning again as penance and actually quite liked my cup of tea with soya. Determined to be good today

It is so hard as my husband works away lots so my days are dogs/kids/work and the vino is the only indulgent/grown up thing for me but I am so unhappy with the weight I need to find an alternative.

Think I am going to find a series to binge watch in the evenings as that will feel indulgent in itself.

2anddone · 02/11/2018 13:19

So far so good today!
Breakfast of cereal (same all week getting bored now but no time for anything else!)
Toddler group where I had a cup of tea and only half a slice of cake (would usually be 2 slices and a biscuit 😳)
Lunch was mushroom and sweet corn soup with a slice of bread (actually feeling full!!)
Planning on pasta for dinner and must resist the temptation of having loads of cheese and half a loaf of garlic bread!!
Weigh in tomorrow morning hoping for some movement on the scales!!!

Huntlybyelection · 02/11/2018 13:26

I'm not writing my food diary down. It's mostly sugar. I know.

I got my Bodyboss Method book delivered yesterday, did day 1 week 1 of ore-training yesterday and the first Friday of week 1 pre training today. I run regularly and thought I was fit. I nearly vomited from the interval training Confused

Anyway, I'm going to keep moving and will work on eating less.

BitOutOfPractice · 02/11/2018 14:28

HappyTot that really is great! Well done!

I'm away this weekend but it's a meditation retreat and it's all vegan food so I'm hoping it'll be healthy

Good luck over the dreaded weekend all!

HollyBen · 02/11/2018 14:44

Great to see more people joining. Be strong everyone!!

I was having an ok day until DH came home with Haagen Das but I resisted wine
Breakfast: 2 weetabix, sliced banana and skimmed milk
Lunch: Ham and boiled egg salad
Dinner: Cheese, onion and pepper omlette, oven chips and peas, haagen das (aaargh)
Snacks: kiwi, apple, grapes, pineapple, treat size Crunchie, m&s healthy eating popcorn, low fat yoghurt
Excercise: 15 mins Body Coach HIIT, 10k steps

My excercise, food and intentions have a habit of going wrong at the weekend so watch this space

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 02/11/2018 15:17

Today I was bizarrely full off a bowl of natural yog, 2 tablespoons of granola and a few slices of banana for breakfast. Is my stomach finally shinking or what? Weird.

Italian chicken casserole again for lunch.

Anyway, congrats to all the losers, and koko to everyone else!

RhubarbCrumbled · 02/11/2018 16:17

Finally done my measurements. They’re scary.
W: 34
H: 41
B: 37
T: 24
K:16

EmmaGrundyForPM · 02/11/2018 18:09

well, a few days in and no movement on the scales so i think I will have to be stricter. And not drink wine......

Shalll · 02/11/2018 20:29

Tricky evening here... managed to choose salad instead of pizza (yay me!) but then had birthday cake for pudding. Oh well! Tomorrow is another day...

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 03/11/2018 01:55

Shamelessly copied from the food thread in Chat :

Bowl Nat yog, 2 tablespoons Granola, few slices of banana
Coffee

Large coffee once I got to work
2 apples
Cottage cheese (again, yuck)

Chicken and veg casserole
A yog and Granola parfait from my fave deli

Spinach, mushroom, pancetta and feta omelet
Few bits of chicken

Trying hard to get the last half a stone off.

2anddone · 03/11/2018 06:52

I have weighed in for the first time!!
I am now 11st 1lb so have LOST 2lb this week 😄😄
This makes my total loss since July 10lbs.
Going to try to stay motivated over the weekend as lots of bbqs/firework displays and a dinner out in the city.
Would love to see the scales read below 11 next week but very happy with this weeks loss.

RhubarbCrumbled · 03/11/2018 06:59

Shalll but it wasn’t pizza AND cake.

RhubarbCrumbled · 03/11/2018 07:03

And my food diary for yesterday. I’d managed to everything, including dinner, by 4pm. I was soooooo hungry!

B: porridge, yogurt, blueberries, milk (8) (I’m changing this up a bit next week!)
L: salad, Spanish chicken (half), apple, satsuma, nakd bar (12)
D: skinny bagel, cream cheese, salmon (6)
S: porridge, yogurt, blueberries (4) (and I didn’t wake up hungry!)

SuzeD29 · 03/11/2018 07:56

@RhubarbCrumbled my measurements are exactly the same as yours 😐

RhubarbCrumbled · 03/11/2018 08:38

Suze are you 5’1’’ as well? I’m feeling quite round atm.

FireflyGirl · 03/11/2018 11:44

Morning all, I'd like to join you.

I won't lose a stone by Christmas but I'll make a good start!

I joined a similar thread 2 years ago, which really helped with motivation, and I managed to lose 1.5 stones and kept it off for over a year. I've had health issues this year and put it all back on.

I started 2 weeks ago, and was 166.9lb.

I'd lost 4lb by mid-week but have put it back on overnight. I'm hoping it's water retention as I'm due a period for the first time after coming off the pill!

Today I am 5'2 and 165.8 lb. First goal is to get down to 160lb by the end of the month.

HollyBen · 03/11/2018 14:07

Well done 2anddone!!

Not too bad a day for me:
Breakfast- 2 weetabix, sliced banana and skimmed milk (bored of this...)
Lunch: Sizzling peppered beef with rice
Dinner: Veggie curry and naan
Snacks: Grapes, kiwi, pineapple, apple, treat size Crunchie, gin and tonic (only 1 and b
Better than wine right)
Excercise: 10k steps

1 more day to weigh in.....

SatsumaFan · 03/11/2018 14:43

I was polishing my devil horns last night. I won't write my food diary as it was very naughty. Tho I didn't drink any alcohol which is good for me for a Friday night.

So far today I've had:

B: Special K
S: banana
L: veg soup.

I now feel sick and bloated and have a headache Sad I was going to ask what soup recipes others use? As do love it usually. My problem is that onion flares my IBS (and the soup I had at lunchtime was onion heavy, hence feeling gross now) and thinking most recipes would involve frying an onion to start?

Off out for a birthday meal at the local Indian tonight, will try and be good but not holding out much hope !

FireflyGirl · 03/11/2018 15:38

Satsuma tomato based sauces are healthier, usually about 600cals a portion. Think all the sauces usually have onions in, though.

A better idea might be to get something like chicken Tikka - no sauce, so fewer calories,in and no onions.

Re: soup, just leave the onion out. I'm not a fan, so that's all I do if I'm not then going to blend it to Oblivion.

Shalll · 03/11/2018 16:06

Super impressed 2anddone.

I tend to go for fresh but ready made soups. Pret when I'm working. Favourites are chicken and veg, tomato and red pepper and cauliflower and kale. I even had a pea soup I liked the other day, there's a first for everything...

Trying hard to be good this weekend which, as we're having guests and are not eating my 'chosen' foods basically just means eating very little.

But had a super motivating PT session this morning and signed up for a boot camp stile class starting next week so this really is happening!!!

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 03/11/2018 23:10

Weighed this morning, 141 pounds which is slightly over 10 stones. (yes, I started a thread in aibu about this).

Would be happy with a 5 pound loss by crimbo tbh

With regards to soup, I eat loads of soups and its usually the same basic recipe :loads of mixed veg, half a tin chick peas, red lentils, tinned toms, sometimes coconut milk too then blended into an oblivion like firefly girl. Try and keep them veggie or even vegan.

Food today :
2 scrambled eggs, half and English muffin with scrape of PB
2 crackers
Bit of cheese
2 x bowls veggie soup, as per above

An apple
A raw carrot

Homemade pizza - probably 1/6 of it
Roasted cauli and squash
Glass red wine

RhubarbCrumbled · 04/11/2018 06:26

Morning, checking in for yesterday!
B: bacon and egg in a skinny bagel (6)
L: apple, satsuma, nakd bar (4)
D: mozzarella chicken pasta (8)
Drinks: g&t, red wine (7)

We were at Costco yesterday which usually means hotdogs, bucket of Fanta and a trailer full of delicious cakes. But not this time! I got a fresh fruit platter instead of cakes.

Today is a cooking for the week dayso that’ll be shepherds pie, soup (tomato, veg and lentil) and stuffed chicken breasts.

helenb706 · 04/11/2018 07:17

Morning all
just re read the whole thread for motivation. Been a hard week for various reasons and only lost a pound but that is better than putting it on. Did go to the gym twice and after reading all the posts have given myself a stern talking to... I can still do a stone by Christmas and actually have a 'do' to go to on 23rd Nov that I am dreading, which will be made all the worse if I feel uncomfortable due to the weight. So 19 days of goodness is probably a good incentive - 6 lbs realistic?

SatsumaFan · 04/11/2018 09:15

Well done Shalll for being so good over the weekend and booking onto a boot camp class! Is that for a number of weeks? I need to do some cardio as currently just do a couple of Pilates classes a week, which I love.

Thanks for the tips on soup. I do tend to make them myself as it's so much cheaper. Due to my IBS I can't have chickpeas, lentils, beans etc as they're too fibrous and fermenty (I've just made that word up). Should also avoid onion and garlic. So it's a bit tricky! I've always batch cooked/frozen/reheated meals but the Gastroenterologist Consultant I saw in the summer said resistant starch builds up when you do that, which will also cause me problems. Grr.

Off to do the big food shop today so will try and do a nice healthy meal plan. And buy a tape measure! Have realised that I can't have the same meals as my slim husband and two children (ie macaroni cheese, pizza, sausages with mounds of creamy mash etc) so will have to treat myself to something yummy instead.

Oh, I had a tandoori mixed grill with lemon rice last night at the Indian and it was gorgeous! As were the poppadums, bit of Peshwari naan and prosecco ! Blush I dodged pudding tho Halo

Have a good Sunday all, stay strong, it's weigh day tomorrow!
