Would anyone be interested in an Exante support thread?

Hi everyone

Following on from the thread about the programme about 'crash diets'. I am intending to use Exante to kick start my weight loss, initially for two weeks but possibly longer if it goes well. I will probably be starting in a week or so (I have been unwell and currently getting over that before trying to lose weight).

Would anyone who is thinking of doing this or already following the plan be interested in a support thread?

xx

You’re doing really well. Definitely the pace setter for the thread Grin

MagentaRocks · 01/07/2018 19:03

Thanks. Only day three though. I desperately want to get on the scales but know I should wait until I have done a week.

MagentaRocks · 02/07/2018 07:03

Day four today. Didn't wake up as hungry as yesterday which is good. Just had the chocolate orange shake for breakfast which was ok. I also don't feel.as fatigued but that might change through the day. I am facing a busy day at work so normally I don't feel tired until I finish as on the go all day. So hopefully it will be an ok day.

I am definitely feeling better after only a few days. I don't feel as bloated and full and the hunger pangs are easing off so that's good.

Gemi33 · 03/07/2018 06:55

Well done, you're doing really well. I ordered some of the chocolate orange shakes so glad they're ok! I also feel really tired a lot so hoping losing some weight will give some energy so glad to hear you don't feel too tired at the moment.

I'm feeling pretty awful, diagnosed yesterday with sinusitis and on antibiotics for the next week. Work think I should still be coming in but I feel terrible so not sure what to do today.

Hope you have another successful day,

xx

Thanks Gemi. Hope you feel better soon.

I don’t feel like I have lost a lot of weight, certainly not the amount others on here have lost but I am hoping I will now be in ketosis so it will speed up. I stepped on the scales last night and it was less that 3lb difference to when I weighed Friday morning. I know it will be more at night, especially as I am drinking a lot of water. But I don’t think it would be that different.

I have had my shifts changed for the end of the week so I will be nights Thursday and Friday so I think I will weigh myself Thursday morning when I get up which will only be six days of doing this, I am hoping for at least a 4.2lb loss. If I lose that every week I will get three stone off by the end of the first week in September when I am going away. I will be disappointed if it is less but if I have now gone into ketosis then it may speed up towards the end of the week.

Try to get some rest so you feel better. X

I'm in the exante group on fb and apparently all the groupon orders took a very long time to arrive. I'd recommend ordering directly on their website and choosing next day delivery - mine have all arrived the next day promptly.

I believe you can get Superdrugs own shakes that are very similar in the meantime?

I really like the caramel latte frappe with an extra teaspoon of instant coffee, I use the blender and put in plenty of ice. The banana smoothie is nice too. Also like the strawberry jam and yoghurt bar and the chilli.

Gemi33 · 03/07/2018 19:42

So I finally have my parcel! I'm planning to start Saturday so really hope I'm feeling a bit better by then. I only ordered 2 weeks worth because I wanted to see if I actually liked the products and could stick with it before ordering more. Given the hassle I've had getting this one though I'm wondering what to do next time - maybe the best thing is to pay for next day delivery and do it on a Friday so it will arrive on the Saturday when I'm actually there. Do people find the next day delivery reliable?

The other thing is - I was going to order a months worth next time so I didn't have to keep ordering so frequently but if the stock is still so low it might be difficult,

That’s brilliant news. I ordered the 4 week pick for £70. Orders over £60 are free next day delivery. Really hope you feel better by the weekend.

I am day five now. I have not had a headache at all today so the caffeine withdrawal symptoms are over - thank god!

I am also not as hungry as I was the first few days. But I still don’t feel like I have lost a massive amount of weight. I reckon 4lb at most so far. I am hoping the last couple of days of the week will make a difference. I might wait until Sunday to weigh myself. When I am back to getting up in the morning. I won’t eat much Saturday, I probably will only have a couple of shakes or bars as I finish work at 7 am and then will only have a few hours sleep and will then only be up a short time before going to bed so I won’t need much food and I will be too tired to eat much so I will have a shake and a bar I think. If I weigh on Sunday it will be 9 days on it so hopefully it will be a decent loss. Hoping for at least half a stone by then.

Good luck in Saturday. And be assured that yes you will feel hungry the first couple of days but it won’t last.

The thing is, using groupon I only paid £33 for 180 shakes. So it’s well worth doing, but probably not the best if you’re in a hurry. If I’d known, if have ordered a week’s worth the normal way and the groupon too.

Mine finally arrived today (so they took exactly a fortnight) and I’ll be starting on Saturday.

MagentaRocks · 04/07/2018 20:34

How are you feeling @Gemi33 ?

MagentaRocks · 05/07/2018 06:58

I’ve done six days and have lost 5.4lb which is ok but I kind of wish it was more. It is TOTM so that will make a difference and of course the first few days I wouldn’t have been in ketosis so that won’t help either. I have ordered some ketosis testing strips that should arrive today so I will be able to see if I am in ketosis.

I am a night shift tonight so it is going to be hard, I won’t eat this morning and will go to bed this afternoon for a few hours. Going to do a lot of cucumber sticks to take to work and snack on before work so I don’t feel too hungry, I have to say though that even when I am hungry it only feels like I am a little bit peckish so it’s not too bad.

Hope everyone else doing well.

Gemi33 · 05/07/2018 07:24

I think that sounds like a great start, well done!! I'm still feeling rough but attempting to drag myself into work today. I really don't feel like it but feel bad I've been off most of the week plus I was already working from home tomorrow morning due to an existing medical appointment so if I don't go in today I'll be turning up for the last few hours of the week tomorrow which seems pointless. It's going to be a long day...

Also starting to worry I still won't be feeling great by Saturday. I really want to start the plan then but also don't really want to start off feeling ill.

Hope you have a good day,

xx

Hope you are feeling better. You will feel better anyway after a few days on the plan. So even if you are still feeling rough try to give it a go.

I’ve done a lot of cucumber sticks to eat today as up a lot more because of night shift, tried to sleep all afternoon but only managed a couple of hours. Will be interesting to see how I cope on a night shift. Fingers crossed it is ok.

MagentaRocks · 05/07/2018 17:08

@Gemi33 I’ve sent you a PM with a referral code. Hopefully it will give you a discount.

I have just placed another 4 week pick order. There’s loads more on there this time. I have ordered some pancakes for breakfast as well as the shakes and bars so hopefully they will be nice. The current 4 week pick for £70 runs out 12th July so time to place an order if you want although I expect the 4 week pick will continue.

I have ordered some different flavour shakes and bars as there wasn’t much choice last time so I had a bit more to choose from which was nice.

Gemi33 · 07/07/2018 09:22

Thanks for the code. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to do an order until next Friday - that's the only time I can be sure I'll be in when it's delivered and I don't want the hassle I had last time!

So I've just had my first shake, the coconut one. It was ok, a bit sickly and sweet. I actually struggled to finish it. I'm a bit worried about how sweet they are and whether I'll be able to keep drinking them if they're all quite sickly. I could may be order some soups next time so at least I have something savoury. Not sure I like the look of the meals.

How are you getting on?

xx

OP posts:
MagentaRocks · 07/07/2018 11:29

I’m getting ok thanks. I had the chocolate shake last night and didn’t like it. The double chocolate bar isn’t my favourite either. I do prefer the fruit shakes. I had the maple syrup pancakes yesterday too which didn’t work too well so I will have to try and cook them better next time.

Just got up after a night shift so will only be up until early evening so expect I will only have a couple of bars or shakes today. I hate the first day off after nights I am always like a zombie.

Gemi33 · 07/07/2018 12:49

When I ordered there weren't any of the cherry and berry shakes which I think might be better. I'm a bit worried that all my shakes are chocolate, coconut, honeycomb etc and if they are all that sickly I may not be able to do it!

OP posts:
Itsmeaga1n · 07/07/2018 13:13

My favourites are the caramel latte frappe or the toffee caramel and I mix a teaspoon of instant coffee in the water before adding lots of ice cubes and then the powder and then blend like mad! The coffee calms down the sweetness I think. I've added it to all of them!

The only bar I like is the strawberry jam and yoghurt. The meals have a weird texture although I don't mind the red bean chilli.

Gemi33 · 07/07/2018 13:49

I've just had the caramel frappe for lunch and it's slightly better but I'm still not keen. I'm a bit gutted. If I can't stomach any of them I'm not going to be able to do it.

OP posts:
MagentaRocks · 07/07/2018 15:15

Have you got any of the strawberry ones? My favourites are the strawberry and strawberry and banana. I have the banana to try and the cookies and cream also which I will do over the next couple of days. Then I will know for next time what I will order. I had the toffee caramel smoothie today. That was ok and not as sweet as I thought it would be. I prefer the shakes to the smoothies as they are thicker.

Gemi33 · 07/07/2018 17:21

I didn't order any of those as I don't like anything strawberry flavour. I'm feeling a bit gutted, feel so sick after the two I've had today and barely had even a quarter of each, I'm not sure I can do this. I'm wondering whether I could swap I soups (healthy, home made ones) and fruit smoothies occasionally to break it up. Either that or I'll have to rethink completely. I did slim fast before and they made me feel queasy too, I'd hoped these would be different.

Sorry you aren't enjoying it. Try not to get too disheartened. I wish I knew what to suggest.

MagentaRocks · 09/07/2018 09:01

Only lost 2lb in the last 4 days so a bit gutted. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am doing the man plan so 3 exante products a day and 200 calories from the approved list. It is meant to be 800 calories but some of the products are a bit over 200 so I am having up to 850 calories a day. I am a diet coke fiend but am only having the one can a day that I am allowed. The 200 extra calories is always from the approved list. So I am having spinach omelette and cucumber sticks some days and just cucumber sticks others.

I really wanted to lose 4.5lb a week but have lost 7.4lb in 10 days so not on track. I really want to continue this but worried i will only lose a couple of lb a week now. Hopefully this week is just a blip and I will get a bigger loss next time I weigh.

Gemi33 · 09/07/2018 10:35

At least you're losing which is the main thing. I do understand the frustration though, especially with a diet like this. I think if you start to feel that you aren't losing any more than people who do less extreme diets (e.g. weight watchers etc) then it can be hard to stay motivated because you think what is the point?!

Maybe give it another week and see how you feel then?

Well I have well and truly failed already - I had a bit of disaster due to a leak in my flat yesterday which now means I don't have a bathroom so to be honest diet went out the window full stop. I'm still not sure what to do really. The reason I wanted to do something like exante is because I've put on such a lot of weight in a short period of time that losing a pound or two a week isn't quick enough for me and I feel like I won't stay motivated. On the other hand, if I can't physically make myself drink the products because they make me feel sick I can't see how I can do it. I could try and order some different flavours/products when they're in stock but I am reluctant to keep spending money on products and then if I don't like them it has been wasted. I have bought some freezer packs of smoothies - just fruit and veg etc and the breakfast one also has oats in it and I'm wondering about having a smoothie for breakfast and lunch and then a soup for dinner (except maybe on the days I go to the gym where I thought I might have a low carb meal for dinner rather than soup). I don't know whether that would have a similar impact as exante though.

I think in this heat a lot of it is water retention causing the weight loss to slow down so drinking as much as possible - depends on weight but at least 2 litres, preferably 4 litres of water - should help.

Gemi33 have you tried adding more water than suggested and lots of ice and blending, also a teaspoon of instant coffee dissolved in the water takes the edge off the sweetness? Which flavours have you tried? Some are sweeter than others. I can't drink the chocolate, strawberry, coconut, almond etc but like toffee caramel, banana smoothie, caramel latte frappe .... not as sweet. There's a fb page called exante wants and swaps or similar where you can sell or swap any you don't like...

Good luck Smile Flowers
