Would anyone be interested in an Exante support thread?

Hi everyone

Following on from the thread about the programme about 'crash diets'. I am intending to use Exante to kick start my weight loss, initially for two weeks but possibly longer if it goes well. I will probably be starting in a week or so (I have been unwell and currently getting over that before trying to lose weight).

Would anyone who is thinking of doing this or already following the plan be interested in a support thread?

The porridge was ok. Sweeter than I thought it would be and it spilled over the bowl. It obviously isn’t amazingly tasteful but it is ok. I am going to have a strawberry shake for lunch, I have cut up some cucumber sticks and I will have a spinach omelette for tea and then have the chocolate caramel bar after tea.

I weighed myself this morning and have some photos of me front facing and to the side where I have written my weight and saved to my electronic diary. I will wait a few weeks before I take more photos to compare. I figured it would give me something to look back on where I can see the progress.

Gemi33 · 29/06/2018 09:31

Good luck! I haven't ordered any of the porridge and I also didn't order the strawberry shake because I don't usually like anything strawberry flavoured. I'm nervous about starting. I haven't felt very well this week and worried about feeling even more rubbish and exhausted. I don't want to keep putting it off though. I'm so worried I won't have enough time to lose the weight I want to before my holiday.

Good luck to you too. The sooner you start it the sooner you get used to it. You are going to feel tired the first few days anyway so may as well get it over with. I know I am going to be tired, hungry and crabby for a couple of days but once I get used to it it will be fine.

Let me know how you get on.

Gemi33 · 29/06/2018 18:04

Well my parcel was supposed to be delivered to my local post office - just been to collect it and it hasn't arrived yet. They said I could try tomorrow or next week. Not sure what to do now. I had intended to start tomorrow but now if it's not there until next week I can't. I have a lot on tomorrow so if I can get to the post office and it is there I could start tomorrow but I think by the time I get there it will be quite late in the day and I'm not sure I can not eat anything until then. I have always started diets on a Saturday, I don't why but I like that as a start date but if I can't get my delivery until late tomorrow should I start Sunday instead?? Grr so annoyed it wasn't there today.

I spoke to them today. Apparently it was a BBC documentary about crash diets that caused a huge flurry of orders. They’ve obviously been caught majorly off guard.

They quoted me potentially another week.

Battleax · 29/06/2018 18:23

(I’ve pencilled it in my head for a Sat 7th start date now. I know what you mean about Saturdays Grin)

MagentaRocks · 29/06/2018 19:16

That’s the first day done. It was ok.i had the porridge for breakfast. Some cucumber sticks mid morning, a strawberry shake for lunch which is actually nice and thick. Usually these types of shakes are watery. I did get hungry about 2 ish sat at the hairdressers but was ok, I had some more cucumber sticks when I got home. Then I had a spinach omelette with 2 eggs and spinach and then the chocolate caramel bar which was ok. I only had one can of Diet Coke and have a major caffeine withdrawal headache but I have drank a lot of water.

I think this is something I can carry on. I just have to force myself to stay off the scales for a week.

Battleax · 29/06/2018 19:18

Can you not treat yourself to a black coffee?

MagentaRocks · 29/06/2018 19:19

I don’t like coffee. Never drink hot drinks, just Diet Coke and water.

MagentaRocks · 29/06/2018 19:21

Gemi hope you get your parcel tomorrow so you can start Sunday.

Gemi33 · 29/06/2018 19:54

Thanks. I have a bit of a history where if I don't start on a Saturday I struggle to stick with it and end up having to restart the following Saturday. I know it makes no sense and I really don't want to wait a whole other week...so really gutted I didn't get it today xx

It’s so strange that you haven’t received your stuff yet. I did a month’s order yesterday and it arrived today.

Maybe you ordered stuff that wasn’t out of stock? They should have communicated that with you though.

Calmisthemantra · 29/06/2018 20:25

I'm now just finishing day 5. I found day 2 hard as felt weird and had a headache all day. Day 3 was a bit easier and by day 4 I think I was fully in ketosis, felt great and not hungry at all. I had a little weigh in this morning and have lost 8lb in 4daysShock You need to drink lots and I have about 4-5litres over the day

Gemi33 · 30/06/2018 11:17

So there's been a mess up with my delivery and now it looks like the earliest possible date for delivery is the middle of next week. Gutted.

OP posts:
MagentaRocks · 30/06/2018 12:03

Oh no. That's not good. You must be really pissed off. Did they say why?

Gemi33 · 30/06/2018 12:55

It's a royal mail mess up that's all - it got sent to the wrong depot so now the delivery needs to be rearranged. I'm gutted because I have put on such a lot of weight in a short period of time and I am going on my first holiday in years in November and I really want to lose as much as possible before then. I would love to go on holiday feeling great. But I have over 4 stone to lose and haven't been able to focus on losing weight because I haven't been well and so I'm already thinking I don't have enough time and now I'm finally ready to start and t's been delayed again.

OP posts:
MagentaRocks · 30/06/2018 13:13

It’s 17 weeks until the start of November if you start on Saturday so plenty of time. If you lose an average of 3.5lb a week then you will get there.

I need to lose over 5 stone, I am aiming for at least 3 by the end of the summer so need to lose over 4lb a week to do that.

Don’t let this distract you, plan to start on Saturday 7th and you will soon see the benefits.

Gemi33 · 30/06/2018 19:05

Thank you, that's really encouraging. I think it's just frustrating because it's taken me so long to get my head in the right place and now I'm just hanging around. It also makes me wonder whether I'd be able to do this plan long term - I work long hours and live on my own so getting deliveries can be difficult, if I have this every time I won't be able to do it.

I also have a particularly stressful week coming up at work next week and feel sick just thinking about it so feeling a bit on edge.

Hope you're getting on ok,

xx

I work long hours doing shift work so have been worried about how I will cope on nights etc.

Let’s encourage each other.

Today was a little harder. Had strawberry and banana shake which was nice. Had a choc coconut bar too, it was ok. Not my favourite though.

Have prepared stuff for tomorrow as will be at work. Hopefully I will get through ok.

Still have caffeine withdrawal headache.

Gemi33 · 01/07/2018 06:53

Well done, you're doing great!! You sound really committed and organised which is fab.

I'm not sure what to do today. I'm so dreading this week at work I already have Sunday blues and feel quite sick with dread so don't know what to do with today,

Day three

Woke up hungry so going to have my shake when I get to work and hope that takes the edge of my hunger. Sure in a couple of days the hunger will stop - hope so anyway.

MagentaRocks · 01/07/2018 06:53

Cross post

Try and do something positive today like a walk and some healthy food to help get you in the mindset for next Saturday.

Gemi33 · 01/07/2018 17:18

Hope today went ok - how are you feeling?

xx

OP posts:
MagentaRocks · 01/07/2018 18:15

Today was ok. Headache not as bad. Had the coconut shake which was nice and the lemon bar and the chocolate orange bar. Both are ok. I was a bit hungry towards the end of my shift but had my omelette and bar so feeling ok now. Hoping the hunger stops in a day or so but it isn’t growling hunger so it’s ok at the moment.

Today was a long and tiring day and normally I would be too knackered to prepare healthy food and would go off track by having chips from the chippie or something but doing this I know having carbs like that will ruin any progress so it is easier to stick to it and not just think ‘one meal won’t hurt’.

Hope you have had a good day. X

Gemi33 · 01/07/2018 18:55

Sounds like you're doing really well and glad to hear the hunger isn't too bad.

I've just had a day stressing about work tomorrow, just want this week over!
