Gastric Bypass in 2 months

I would like to know if anyone on here has had a Gastric Bypass. I have jumped through all the hoops and am now just waiting for surgery date which should be in the next 8 Weeks. I would like to hear from anyone who has had a Bypass or Sleeve . (Not a band it's a very different Operation) .
It appears to be a very taboo subject on MN - (I have even felt the need to name change) and despite there being hundreds of threads on the latest diet, there is surprisingly little about the only scientifically proven longterm sustainable weight loss treatment for those with obesity or morbid obesity.
I am after any advice for the immediate post op period and the process of moving from liquids to solids and any other advice really.

Hello lovely ladies, please can I join you? I'm hoping to have the sleeve summer 2020. I have 3 stone to lose, I know it's not a lot but I have tried e everything. My weight is linked to emotional trauma from childhood and it's high time I did what I could to change the self loathing, self hatred and self sabotage. I have massive fears and anxieties about the surgery: will I die, what if there's a late leak, what about malnutrition, what if it doesn't work. Slap cannot tell a soul about the surgery and am worried about a lifetime of lies.

I've read the whole thread and been inspired to just go for it. I've been on the fb groups for years but due to a feeling of not deserving it I've got taken the plunge. Hope everyone on this thread it's getting on ok.

Should've mentioned I'll be going abroad for surgery.

It's taken me a long time to get back to this thread! (like, 2 years...)
I was @ARoomSomewhere back then

What @QOD said on thread p. 1 has been similar to my experience.

I went ahead and had roux en y surgery, June 2018.
I'd gone from 20st to 17st to qualify.
I dropped to 10st in 1st 12m but have bounced to 11st (old habits)

For me, i regret it as I have had a lot of problems with my nutrition.
My follow up was almost non existent. My dietician retired and was not replaced. I just get annual bloods which show I am severely deficient for iron, ferritin, B12 and Vit D still. I was fainting a lot, I lost my job, I feel exhausted every day, despite following all guidelines. My GP said I had lost too much too quickly. The local general surgeon (they sent me out of area for the BS but I cant see that surgeon again) said I should have had a sleeve as I am ,medically malnourished, but will not authorize ££ reversal of the surgery as I have healed correctly.

So, yes, it worked but yes I regret it.
I think I was unlucky though and would not dissuade others.
It is a hard road, but my BMI has dropped from about 42 to 26.
I am much safer re C-19, heart issues, cancer, all sorts of things.
I just feel about 90 now.
