Storm have you considered trying a couple of fast days? Not necessarily 500 calories, but 800 or 1000. You needn't make a permanent thing of it but I've found fast days invaluable for building a repertoire of low cal options. It's great for working out what works for you, and might kickstart things if you tried one or two.

Stellar42 · 17/04/2018 07:51

Morning all.
I'm with quim on fast days. I never get 500 but I'm usually happy if I get 750. I'm back on this after putting on a lot of weight over a very short period of time. It's hard work. But worth it.

I'm currently doing the egg diet again! With salad for lunch for the fibre. Wink

MissingPanda · 17/04/2018 07:51

twinkle so sorry Flowers

Well I didn't fall off the wagon last weekend. I dived off it, spectacularly, complete with triple somersault and 1 1/2 pikes, or whatever they call them, into a pool of cake, chocolate and take-aways Blush I weighed myself yesterday and was amazed to find I'd only put on .9 of lb on. I was expecting more. Climbed back on yesterday and came in under my calories. Going to take it day by day for a while and see how it goes.

NanBoleyn · 17/04/2018 09:51

Thanks hoola. It's hard when temptation is put in your way in the form of parties and events! I'm being a bit antisocial at the moment but I know I would cave otherwise.
Sesame here's hoping we can both make it under the 10 st mark next week! Must admit am only doing a half marathon to support a small local charity which has helped my daughter. Not sure would do it otherwise, it is a bit long....
Best wishes to everyone else!

Morning. Weigh in showed a drop of a pound so that’s a start on losing the typical weekend bloat. That’s great not to see to much of a jump panda, I know it’s not real weight, it’s just disheartening. Dental situation sorted for now, back again next week. Back worse after physio, so yeah that’s just wonderful. At least I can walk, cause drivings a nightmare!
I did the fasting thing for a long time, did BSD too. As a result I absolutely cannot manage it, I get ridiculously hangry and depressed. Saying that I’m kinda fasting now as I’m scared to eat in case I bite my numb cheek, or break my tooth. Ahhh the dodgy teeth diet😬

StormTreader · 17/04/2018 11:00

Thanks everyone - I think I need to invest in proper digital food scales. I went through a few years of being borderline anorexic (yeah I know!) so I shy away from restricting and measuring too precisely but youre all right in that clearly the current plan isnt working! :)

Not2bObvious · 17/04/2018 12:19

My recollection of fasting guidelines was it wasn’t suitable for people with tendencies towards ED, so I’m your case storm it might be best to avoid.
Look up Team RH on Facebook or there’s a girl called Geri who reviews their plan. She has a page called mind over platter, and there’s links on that to YouTube reviews. I honestly think it might help you. You need to learn to eat enough but with a deficit, and this works (ignore my results, my mess ups are my own, not the fault of the plan!)

Not2bObvious · 17/04/2018 13:05

Sorry it’s Jerri and here’s a link:

I know I must sound like a broken record but I’m YEARS at this and I’m the calmest & happiest & most positive I will lose this excess weight than I have ever been. She may swear, I can’t quite remember but she’s a great character & does a great job of explaining it

StormTreader · 17/04/2018 13:09

Not2bObvious I'm genuinely grateful for all advice :) I'll check out the link!

BitOutOfPractice · 17/04/2018 13:18

Storm keep chatting here. There's always some help and support when you need it.

I'm having another golden day so far. Been to my running class despite being very snotty and feel a bit better for it. Just had an early (for me) lunch and going to try and hold out till dinner though I'm back at the gym with BF later to do some weights while he spins.

Twinkle I'm so sorry Thanks MC are so painful, and I know from experience it's bitter sweet having a child and then loosing one. I've had more MC than children so far and I always feel selfish for grieving a child when I have a toddler running round the house Sad hope you are feeling okay ThanksThanks

Not I hope you're back on your feet soon Smile

twinkledag · 17/04/2018 16:35

Thank you @Namajesty for your kind words and so sorry to hear what you've been through Thanks

Not2bObvious · 17/04/2018 16:42

Thanks maj, no bother when I’m on my feet - it’s the getting up that’s a challenge. Trying a different therapy later in the week on a friends recommendation and am taking more pain meds as suggested by physio. I find you get a run of health issues from time to time, this is my run!
Calories are quite low today, not deliberate but just the way it’s going. There’ll be room for something treaty later😋

Lots of people on the plan have said pretty much what you said keep. Came to crisis point where the weight was controlling & making them miserable. Look at the video I linked, look at the public Facebook page. They take no excuses though, you join, you put proper effort in and you do as you’re told. And you have to lose the mentality of fad diets. You learn to accept you won’t lose 10 pound in a week, you don’t starve yourself, you move your arse and you’re consistent & positive. Yes it costs some money but not a lot, and you can cancel anytime. Do a bit of your own research as I said, I have suggested the gist of it to you many times - can lead you to water, can’t make you drink though😉

ponygirlcurtis · 17/04/2018 20:32

Is that the Dirty Diet one, keepon? I wanted to find out a bit more about probiotics and gut health and so on.

I personally really don't like the hectoring tone on that team rh thing (sorry not as I know it's helping you and others). It's just not my thing at all. I don't want to listen to a lecture at a white board like I'm 12 but that's just arsey old me. I think it borders on brain washing at times. Not my style.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/04/2018 22:04

And don't be fooled that it's not a business. It is. Very much so. Cleverly packaged.

Sorry to sound a downer on it Blush

nan I hope a good total for your charity will help make all that training worthwhile.

not interesting discussion you've started here, I'll watch the YouTube link in the morning.

Still on 10-1 this morning. A sensible day overall, although quite high in calories - I'm not expecting any miracles on the scales tomorrow.

I do know what you mean boop, I don’t like some aspects of that side of things which is why I have said a number of times it’s not for everyone - that he takes no prisoners, it’s definitely not handholdey touchey/feeley. Of course it’s a business, why shouldn’t it be? It’s not in the Joe Wicks sphere of costs, even Hairy Bikers want £4.99 a week for their plan!
Anyway I’ll stop banging on about it - no offence was intended, it’s just an alternative for those who might want to try it or at least look into an approach like it.
Good luck keep, I’m sure you’ll do very well
