I’m a bit of a cynic about any diet plan you have to pay for...

Kikisdeliveries · 18/04/2018 07:58

Hello!

I've had a rather too fabulous gastronomic holiday and am still picking the pastry flakes off my décolletage...

Much damage has been done but it was totally worth it!

Already back to the exercise regime and slowly dwindling my eating amounts to sensible levels. That the sun is finally shining here makes all the difference!

My mission today is to NOT eat a pastry. Doesn't sound hard does it? By golly it's a tough habit to slough off (and so quick to ingrain).

I'll attempt to catch up on the thread now... step 1 in the recovery process. My name is Kikisdeliveries and I am a pastryholic.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 07:58

You haven't offended me and I know it works for lots of people, just not my style at all.

Not back issuesSad Mine is muscular too - not disastrous but still never know when it will next 'go'. Going back to office work certainly aggravates it. Hope yours improves soon, something that helped me mentally was reading that it can take a year for a muscle to heal properly after an injury. Somehow accepting that nugget plunged me less into despair when it's buggered again.

Quim You are such a spring chick! I'm trying to remember my 30th and cannot, sadly not due to so much partying I had amnesia but more to do with extreme tiredness that comes with a wildly active non-sleeping 1 year old and the madness of planning number 2! I've just checked through photos and I have no evidence of the birthday but I do look like a chubby 12 year old that year, I can see why I used to get IDd all the time now! I've now trawled email archives and we had a very fancy foody night away! Just me and DH! That makes me feel better.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 08:51

My 30th is sooooo long ago! Had a big party - it was the last time I saw my dad well so the memories are very precious

Not I have had two issues in the last coupe of years that I thought would never go away and, like kiki I had a physio say to me "this will get better you know, eventually" - I cried when he said it because I thought I would be in pain forever (two frozen shoulders). Keep trying different pain killers till you find the right one. I tried about 4 or 5 before I found anything that took the edge off and allowed me to sleep. Good luck with the new treatment Thanks

Hello all!

So Monday went a bit pear shaped, DH announced at the last minute that he didn't need lunch the next day when I'd already started making something, and since the ingredients were already prepped I ended up scarfing a load of them Hmm Great steps though.

Then yesterday he phoned me late in the evening to say he wasn't going to make it home and would have to find a hotel, I already had a lovely healthy chicken leek soup in the slow cooker so decided to bung that in the fridge for Thursday instead and had... scrambled eggs as usual Blush Not the end of the world but not exactly going to plan! Good job he didn't phone me until late though, if I'd known all day I'd probably have succumbed to a pizza...

koko good to see you back - sorry to hear you've had a rough time of it. I don't know much about the programme you're proposing to follow but I'd think carefully about it - obviously you know yourself best (better than I, a stranger on the internet? Surely not) but I feel that when you topple from the wagon you tend to "punish" yourself with shakes and things which you get no pleasure from, and I wonder if a "take no prisoners" style plan might exacerbate that and make you stressed.

On the other hand you might think a boot camp with a clear plan and loads of resources is just what you need. Just something to think about.

ponygirlcurtis · 18/04/2018 11:30

Chicken leek soup in the slow cooker, you say Quim? Sounds lovely, is there a recipe handy?

So I am carrying on with my mission to hit my water, steps and no sweet stuff targets. A little (very little) movement so far, hopefully the scales will show more as the week goes on. Today might be tricky in terms of reaching my steps goal as it's my day off and I'm currently sat with my feet up contemplating a nice omelette for lunch, but if I have to do half-an-hour of steps after dinner, so be it.

QuimReaper · 18/04/2018 11:55

pony it's simple as anything but definitely delicious!

Onions, garlic, carrot, celery and leeks all in the slow cooker
1 x Knorr stock pot and 1 x can Campbell's condensed chicken soup
Splash of white wine and splash of boiling water
1 large chicken breast (or 2 small ones, or however much you want really...)

Slow cook for about 5-6hrs
Shred chicken breast
Stir in chopped parsley
Stir in spoonful of creme fraiche / cream if you're feeling decadent

Ta-daa!

I made it recently on the hob because I ran out of time to slow-cook it and apparently it was even better. I can't think why, but hey ho.

Namajesty · 18/04/2018 12:14

Not and Kiki have you tried Pilates? My core muscles (abdomen, back and even my shoulders) were completely and utterly fucked after pregnancy. I had physio and was even on medication for pain and while the pain went away the physio seemed more about being able to walk, stand and sit without making my muscles worse, however here was no focus on rebuilding my muscle and strength IYSWIM. I have been doing Pilates once a week for a few months now (after finally being allowed by GP and feeling able to physically exercise) and my back feels so much better. Obviously do not try it if you don't feel ready and if you are told not to by a doctor - you could just do very light stretches each day instead. My shoulders now rarely seize up and I can actually tense my abdominal muscles (which sounds like a minor thing but it's honestly a huge breakthrough). There are so many videos on YouTube to try out but I would recommend doing some light stretches or even beginners yoga beforehand (again on YouTube). It has really helped me more than anything else so maybe it could work for you also Smile

Namajesty · 18/04/2018 12:16

Just to add I know how infuriating it is when you have tried everything and people throw ideas and 'have you tried this' 'have you done that' it gets so tiring and stressful so I hope it doesn't come across as that Confused it's just an idea to try out (if you haven't already) and if not then it's fine I know it's not a one size fits all Smile

Kikisdeliveries · 18/04/2018 12:30

All good ideas namajesty - I'm already doing tonnes of fitness and physio ranging from yoga up to kickboxing and a fair bit in between! I'm 8 month's post-muscle tear injury, currently absolutely fine, but know it's still vulnerable. Doing lots of glute and an strengthening to sort it out but it's when I do too much that I jigger my back again, basically because I tire out the muscles I'm strengthening then back takes over. I'm learning my limits, slowly....

I think Not2 might be in a similar boat, I know she gets as frustrated as I do by being thrown off her fitness track and if I remember correctly it was overdoing it with weights that jiggered it initially.

Hoolahoophop · 18/04/2018 13:32

Goodness there's a lot to catch up on. But please excuse me if I blurt first then go back a d join in the conversation.

I saw an 8 on the scales this morning. Grin
just need to stay good not celebrate so it's still there at the end of the week.

Not and Kiki I hope the health fairy visits you soon. It send ecen worse being laid up with bad backs when the weather is nice.

pony go run round in the sun Grin

Recipe sounds great Quim I love a soup, slightly sad that it's coming to salad season rather than soup now.

Sorry, can't go back another page. Ive never tried a specific diet plan, I'm too tight to pay and to stubborn to be told what to do. Blush

Also, after a five mile walk with dd in the sling I walked through town, saw loads of people in the sun out side coffee shops. Im now craving an iced vanilla latte. Trying to figure out a low calorie alternative.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 13:50

Hello hoola!

Has everyone got this lovely weather? The gym was hard work this morning. It was boiling

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 18/04/2018 13:57

Sorry hoola I also meant to say well done on the 8 Star

OP posts:
Hoolahoophop · 18/04/2018 14:00

Hi popped into the doctors surgery this morning to make an appointment Boop it was grim, ridiculously hot incubating germs. At least at the gym it's good to sweat it out! Gorgeous weather I'm dizzy on it. 4 loads of washing on the line. Grin

Namajesty · 18/04/2018 15:14

Hoola that's brilliant, let's hope the 8's become your new average soon! I haven weighed for a while but I am going off body measurements which I also haven't done for a whileBlush

I know what you mean about the sun. I've been out each day for a walk and it has been lovely but also given me migraines and the heat has made me feel so tired!

Today I did something that I haven't done in nearly 2 years. I went out in a shirt and no jacket!! It's a huge deal for me I haven't felt able to do that in so long but my oh my it felt good to feel a breeze and not be sweating in a jacket. I had on stretchy high waisted jeggings and a baggy shirt. The sleeves cover the top half of my arms which I felt more comfortable in and the material went over my boobs and then straight down. No lumps where my stomach was (because it is finally shrinkingGrin). The shirt was actually a size too big so that's why it wasn't clingy on me in the slightest and it made me feel a lot less self conscious. Looks like I'll be wearing this every day until I loose enough weight to wear something else GrinGrin

Hoolahoophop · 18/04/2018 16:09

Ah that's great Nama good to feel confident. Maybe up your water to combat the headaches and fatigue. Ive doubled my usual intake today.

StormTreader · 18/04/2018 17:37

Congrats on the 8!

twinkledag · 18/04/2018 20:51

Congrats on the 8 @Hoolahoophop!

Lovely post @Namajesty Smile

My meals are good, I must stop snacking on crap in between Blush

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/04/2018 21:39

I stayed the same this week but 3lb down so far this month so hopefully that will continue

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2018 07:21

Theta fabulous captain! And only just over half way through!

OP posts:
ponygirlcurtis · 19/04/2018 07:45

Recipe sounds lush, Quim. Smile

That's good going CaptainHolt. I am 1lb down from Monday which is good news.

Hoolahoophop · 19/04/2018 08:11

twinkle I'm the opposite, ive managed to stop snacking but my main meal in particular could feed two of me. We need to combine our strengths.

That's Brilliant captain well done.

SesameSparkle · 19/04/2018 08:36

hoola congrats on the 8, as an alternative to iced latte, perhaps you could pour espresso and cold milk over ice cubes at home with no sugar, or even do in a blender?

maj aw glad you're feeling confident and able to dress how you please for the weather

Well done on the losses, there's some good numbers being hit for April! Smile

A good day yesterday with a nice run in the sunshine, no snacking and some healthy foods consumed. Still on 10-1 this morning though. Really want to ditch that fraction of a pound to make it an even 10 sometime soon. And there's 2 and a bit weeks left to my holiday and if I could I'd really like to get to 9-12 before I go.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/04/2018 08:45

Morning! It's a beautiful day here. Hope the sun is shining where you are.

I have a gym session and all my food planned. In fact I came downstairs from a bit of a lie in to find that DP had got the chicken in the slow cooker ready for chicken fried rice for dinner. I love that man! Grin
