And thoughts to Twinkle and all others going through a hard time.

TheHoundsofLove · 16/04/2018 09:08

I'm also so sorry for your loss, twinkle - be kind to yourself! Flowers
Well, I'm a total of 4 lbs down now, which I'm pleased with. I don't mind losing slowly as am determined never to have to lose this weight again!

Hoolahoophop · 16/04/2018 09:39

Flowers twinkle sorry for your loss.

Congrats on the loss hounds and nan

Your Monday mornings are very similar to mine not just keep ploddingng on.

Sounds like a good Sunday sesame

I should try a park run, we have a gorgeous park here for it, including running alongside the river.

Last week my target was to increase my weekly steps by 2000 and I managed 5000 extra so pleased with that, then decrease my average daily intake by 200 only managed 150. But I was still averaging a 200 a day deficit so pleased. Id have done better without the beer festival over the road a toddler birthday party and an 80th party with lots of food and cake.

In total 1lb down.

Oh and my cake was not my best but tasted great and was well received....still 3kg of icing in the house. Grin

TefalTester123 · 16/04/2018 09:54

Thanks twinkle so sorry. Have been there with IVF and I can't find any words that will help.

Managed to do the 5k this morning. Roads round me are a bit up and down, most of the run there's an up for every down, but I did do the last km on down/level deliberately, so a slight cheat. Still pleased though. Amazed I have nearly done 10K steps. Was spurred on though by a slight rise over the weekend, so am only marginally down over the week.

Was planning to do the garden today, but not sure I have the energy left for it!

lastqueenofscotland · 16/04/2018 10:41

Twinkle you poor thing Flowerstake care

HairsprayBabe · 16/04/2018 11:00

Twinkle Flowers So sorry for your loss.

I have put a lid on the random snacking and I am sticking to three meals a day plus tea and water.

Picking up the last of my things from Nottingham on Saturday - excited and terrified to get my scales back!

SesameSparkle · 16/04/2018 11:28

not glad to hear your back is at least improving, but sorry you are now needing the dentist Sad

nan looks like we are on a similar trajectory. I'm down to 10-1 as of this morning too, starting at 10-10 over a similar period of time. I'm impressed you are training for a half too. Maybe one day I'll do one, but I'd like to get a bit faster first as my boredom threshold for any run is just about an hour.

hounds well done on the loss

hoola sounds like a good week and glad your cake went down well.

tefal well done on the 5k, good work!

hairspray snacking is also my weakness, it sounds like you are doing great.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/04/2018 11:29

Morning all!

Twinkle I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Such a roller coaster of emotions for you. [thanks[

I've had a great weekend, celebrating my team being promoted to the premiership. Was at the game yesterday and it was like a 30,000 strong party, everyone smiling and singing and drinking. I was in the posh, cheese and biscuits and red wine at half time seats.Had a super day with lovely people. Even had my picture taken with Robert Plant.

So, I'm 2lbs up but I know that will go this week. I have no excuses not to be good this week so it's golden all the way for me

It's lovely to see you back hairspray

Well done on the 5km tefal - feels great to get those steps in eary doesn't it?

@Twinkledag Flowers. So sorry for your loss.

Weekend went well. Relaxing day yesterday ..No gym but very healthy eating.

Gym this morning was packed and I had a major struggle getting up at 6.30 to go but glad I did. Does anyone else really struggle with Monday's?.

Anyway..finish work in 2 hours and then I plan a 30 minute walk to do a bit of shopping and then I'll cook something yummy and healthy (that's also teenager friendly!) Haven't a clue what that is yet thoughGrin.

Beyond11cisRetinol · 16/04/2018 12:33

Sorry all (mainly sorry to myself), life got in the way.

Starting again from today...

QuimReaper · 16/04/2018 12:35

Oh Twink I'm so sorry. Be kind to yourself Brew

So on Friday I was 200g up on the previous week Angry Not too bad in itself but I was really hoping to more or less maintain in spite of a couple of Mondays off. Instead I'm over a kilo over the "new low" I saw earlier in the month, and 700g over my goal weight! Maybe the New Low was a blip after all.

Still, I've got three golden weeks clear before the long weekend. Aim is to see if I can get 1.5 kilos off by then, in order to see a new new low (and then pile it all back on between a long weekend away, followed by a huge Significant Birthday blowout!). Fingers crossed...

BitOutOfPractice · 16/04/2018 12:48

A significant birthday you say Quim? Have you got anything nice planned?

OP posts:
QuimReaper · 16/04/2018 13:21

Yes, a jolly significant one! Grin I'm having a mahoosive party in the garden (the weather WILL be nice, it WILL IT WILL IT WILL) and I have a feeling DH has some kind of weekend-long surprise lined up for me later in the month Smile

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2018 14:10

My 30th was a bit eventful, I’d just given birth (totally outing!) It coincided with the baby blues so I spent the day sobbing!
Your plans sound fab quim

twinkledag · 16/04/2018 14:47

Thank you very much everyone!

@tefal – did it all work out for you in the end? I have a 3 yr old DS which softens the blow a bit. Would love to give him a sibling.

My menu ended up changing a bit. I had oatso for breakfast, soup for lunch and will have my salad for dinner. We wont mention the bag of m&ms

StormTreader · 16/04/2018 16:11

Sadly my update is I am right back to 225 this morning again. Unless I start just not eating ever again, I don't know where I go from here, motivation is less than zero.
It keeps playing on my mind that the common example of "irredeemably fat woman" is 200+ pounds and I would have to lose 2 stones just to get down to that point.

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2018 17:05

Apologies storm, I can’t remember what plan you were following or your progress so far. If I can suggest the following before you fall into f* it thinking:

  1. Weigh every day, record, forget it. If you use the Fitbit app you’ll get a weekly average - this will even out the fluctuations that can really derail you
  2. The weight category you’re in means you can still eat a very decent amount and lose so none of this 1200 a day carry on. It’ll cause binges - trust me! And you’ll ruin yourself. I highly recommend Team RH on Facebook but if you’re not into something like that, maybe drop your cals to a min of 1800-2000 and track everything
  3. Aim to be as active as you can, get a cheapo pedometer and get them steps done. If you can get 5000 today, get 6000 tomorrow
  4. Just keep doing it, day in day out. If you go over, track it and move on, do better the next day
With lots of respect you can choose to give in and this time next year you could be 300. If you lose 1lb a week, this time next year you could be 170lb or less. Wishing you lots of success, chin up
StormTreader · 16/04/2018 17:24

Thanks Not2bObvious :)

Ive been trying to stick to around 1600 per day, realistically maybe up to 2000 sometimes, just trying to be fairly sensible most days. Ive been doing a low-impact 2 hour sports class for 7 months now, which was twice weekly for 8 weeks of that while they ran the beginners classes again, and 2 months of a weekly 1-hour clubbercise class as well. I can see a bit of difference in posture and legs but the weight just wont shift, my ribcage roll is as big as ever, my arms are still massive, my thighs still have tides.

It just all feels so unfair, like I'm just not trying. I could be better, but I could be and have been a hell of a lot worse with about the same result it seems.

And now I'll stop the pity party - the rest of you are all doing so well! Glad to see its working out for most people, come back and get me if you have time once you hit your targets! Grin

ponygirlcurtis · 16/04/2018 17:25

Flowers for you Twinkle. So sorry for your loss.

Back to work after our holiday and I am back on it today with more to lose now than after Christmas. Blush No grand plans other than:

  • 2.5l of water daily
  • make sure I reach my daily steps target by marching in the evenings if necessary.
  • cutting out cakes and biscuits and chocolate

I know that doesn't sound like much effort but I hope that by focusing on those three things I will get into the mindset and eat better by default.

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2018 17:45

I think you need to look very closely at how you’re recording your calories storm, because really you’d see some loss at your weight and taking in those calories. Well done on doing the exercise but honestly if you do an hour class and nothing else for the rest of the day, you won’t see results. If your tracking is off and say you’re taking in on average 2000-2500 a day you mightn’t be losing. And it’s very very easy to get that wrong, for example the eye sees a teaspoon of peanut butter, the scales records 20 grams - that’s a difference of maybe 90 cals. You have to record everything in grams and keep track of it.
I promise I’m not getting at you or calling you a fibber but something isn’t going right.
If you get anal about measuring & weighing & recording your food to a consistent value of 2,000, if you’re able to do those classes you can certainly do 10,000 steps a day with an aim to get 15,000 over time. I would bet you’d see losses. Don’t give up, re-examine and recommit

TefalTester123 · 16/04/2018 17:57

twinkle yes it did work out - I have two strapping teenagers (both IVF). I found the first time the worst as there was more to stress about, subsequent attempts at least you know what you'll be going through. Also we didn't tell anyone about it, so no prying questions.

twinkledag · 16/04/2018 18:31

Thanks for answering @TefalTester123 Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 16/04/2018 18:46

Storm it’s boring but are you weighing your food? People underestimate a lot. And also logging every little bit, milks in tea, bites of DCs dinner etc all add up

BitOutOfPractice · 16/04/2018 19:24

Storm keep going. It will happen if you stick to it like glue. These plateaus can really get you down but hopefully you're in for a whoosh soon

OP posts:
SesameSparkle · 16/04/2018 20:46

storm you can change if you put your mind to it, you just need to find the thing that works for you. You are about the weight I was 6 years ago. The first couple of stone or so almost melted just by giving up refined sugar, juices and fizzy drinks. It was only after that I looked at other parts of my diet and fitness and now I'm almost back below 10st.
