... then if exercise is causing extreme hunger, should you stop/ cut down?

I’m doing Insanity Max 30 and I’m soooo frigging hungry, it’s actually painful. It’s like I can’t get full.

So is it better to eat more, cut down the exercise or ignore the hunger?

I’ve been trying to ignore it, but I’ve actually put on 4lbs since starting Insanity although I’m unsure if that’s muscle, so I think I’ve been overeating at meal times.

WWYD?

Change what youre eating when your hungry.

C0untDucku1a · 14/03/2018 21:04

And emsure youre eating appropriate portion sizes. Fist size. Or flat hand for fish.

C0untDucku1a · 14/03/2018 21:04

Maybe get a portion plate to get used to what normal
Portion sizes are?

QuiteLikely5 · 14/03/2018 21:05

Water water water

Have soft boiled eggs

BIWI · 14/03/2018 21:06

What is your diet like? Are you eating carb-heavy meals? If so, you need to switch to high fat, medium protein and low carb. That will curb your hunger.

Trialsmum · 14/03/2018 21:18

I eat a lot of full fat Greek yoghurt and fruit. And then just normal things for tea. I’ve been doing the no S diet for a year nearly but it’s only when doing Insanity that I’m so hungry!

BIWI · 14/03/2018 21:20

That's not really describing your diet! What do you eat on a typical day?

TalkinPeace · 14/03/2018 21:20

^normal things"
such as ?
what are you drinking?
what protein and fats are you having

yoghurt and fruit is a very narrow diet

twer · 14/03/2018 21:21

I'm not a dietitian so what I say might be a load of crap BUT full fat yoghurt is surely a no no? Maybe try Fage 0% Greek yoghurt.
Also, soooo much sugar in fruit. So if you have a LOT of full fat yog and LOT of fruit I'm not surprised you're putting the weight on...

twer · 14/03/2018 21:23

I think it's unlikely to be 4lb of muscle BUT my trainer has made me ditch the scales and get the tape measure out.

I'm working out (weights based) which made me feel good but since adjusting my diet I've lost inches off my waist, even though the scales aren't showing much change

Trialsmum · 14/03/2018 21:27

Well I stopped eating low fat yoghurt because the advice is that they make it taste nice by putting too much sugar in.

So a typical day:

Breakfast: yoghurt and blueberries
Snack: banana ( you’re not supposed to snack on no S but I have an 11am appointment at work and my stomach rumbles if I don’t!)
Lunch: yoghurt and blueberries
Tea: could be spag bol, curry, meat potatoes and veg, chicken fried rice, jacket potato and fillings erm that sort of thing.

OP posts:
Trialsmum · 14/03/2018 21:28

Oh and drinking, water, tea, coffee, squash. I do naturally drink a lot, more than 3l a day.

C0untDucku1a · 14/03/2018 21:28

Whats ‘normal things for tea’ mean?!

TalkinPeace · 14/03/2018 21:29

twer
why do you think fat is a problem?
what do you think they do to 0% products to take the fat out add sugar mainly

FAT is not the enemy

TalkinPeace · 14/03/2018 21:31

trials
Tea: could be spag bol, curry, meat potatoes and veg, chicken fried rice, jacket potato and fillings erm that sort of thing.
are these cooked from scratch or bought in?
have you checked your portion sizes ?
what goes into each meal (carbs / protein / fat nutrients)

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 14/03/2018 21:32

Try low carb, high fat. I'm on 1200 calories a day and I'm never uncomfortably hungry. Carbs made my blood sugar shoot up and down (I'm diabetic so I monitor it) which made me hungry.

Shadow666 · 14/03/2018 21:33

Well, you’re eating nothing but yoghurt and blueberries and a banana until dinner, so, yes, you’re bound to be utterly famished. That’s not a healthy diet at all.

KakunaRattata · 14/03/2018 21:35

Blimey you're not eating nearly enough! Yes the full fat yoghurt is right, diet alternatives are full of shit and nutritionally devoid, but you need more actual food - maybe lunch of some protein and veg and some snacks throughout the day, handful of nuts, banana, smoothie etc. You're going to burn out eating that little and doing insanity, fuel your body right and it'll react better.

Bluntness100 · 14/03/2018 21:36

So you only eat one meal a day and just have yogurt and fruit otherwise, this is why you're hungry. Cmon you must know that ?

emsyj37 · 14/03/2018 21:36

There's no sugar in zero fat Greek yoghurt... if it's the plain type.

TalkinPeace · 14/03/2018 21:37

There's no sugar in zero fat Greek yoghurt... if it's the plain type
what the photon IS in it then ?

Trialsmum · 14/03/2018 21:37

Talkinpeace, yeah I cook from scratch. I used to use jars more before I realised how much sugar they add Shock.

I know it’s not much during the day but I don’t really know what to take out with me that doesn’t take ages to prepare! I visit people’s homes so don’t have access to any meal preparation area during the day.

OP posts:
userofthiswebsite · 14/03/2018 21:38

I'm not surprised you are hungry. Yoghurt and fruit are a snack, they don't replace 2 meals...

twer · 14/03/2018 21:40

0% Greek yog has no sugar or sweeteners or anything like that.

I think the muller light yoghurts etc are the ones all packed with nasties

Fat isn't a problem to eat but if it's a large proportion of your diet then becomes a problem eh?

As I said, I'm not a dietician but im pretty sure a lot of full fat yog plus a dinner such as fried rice/bolognese isn't going to help you lose weight...

TalkinPeace · 14/03/2018 21:41

trials
You know the pots that takeaway comes in .....
fill one with cut up carrots (peeled and cut into big chunks) and cherry tomatoes and then make up a small pot of raisins and nuts ...

In between each call have a piece of carrot and a few raisins.
Once a day sit and eat for ten minutes.

And DRINK LOTS OF WATER
then make sure you up the protein / fat and lower the carbs at supper
and you'll be fine
