So, winter has us in its icy grasp as March begins but by the end of the month we will be lighter, warmer and, erm, slenderer!

Well done @slightlysoreboobs for getting into the 8s!

1lb down for me this morning.

QuimReaper · 02/03/2018 08:34

Morning Slenderistas! I woke up this morning and my first thought was "SCALES" Grin

I weigh exactly what I did 4 weeks ago. This may sound like nothing to celebrate, but I am thrilled! My weight crept up by almost 2 Lindas at one point with all the socialising, but with really focused stepping and fasting last week I managed a small loss, and in one committed week I've driven it down by 600g - that's over a Linda! I never see losses like that, so I'm feeling very proud. If I can do the same over the next two weeks I'll be totally sorted.

(Then I can start on driving it down further to get to Hair's "Monday morning" point. Sigh. It really doesn't end, does it?)

QuimReaper · 02/03/2018 08:37

Well done twink and boobs and Feez on the losses, great start to the weekend! And Spurious I completely agree that on a week like this, especially if you've been in commute hell, a maintain is definitely a wine.

QuimReaper · 02/03/2018 08:37

A win* Blush

I'm clearly preoccupied by thoughts of the weekend...

Not2bObvious · 02/03/2018 08:51

Morning all. I can’t keep up with the flurry of activity and new company on this shiny new thread. Anyway looks like everyone is in positive mood despite the weather. I got out for the trudge yesterday which was surprisingly enjoyable but today it looks a good bit worse so dunno if I’ll repeat it. Have done over 2500 steps marching about the house so I’ll keep that up.
Brilliant on the average feezles, mine is looking good too but weights been up around 1lb over the last 2 days. TMI alert, sluggish bowels ain’t helping☹️ Average is still 11.3’ish - sticking to calories, water and steps so hoping for a wee drop by Sunday.
Apologies for lack of shout outs, I just can’t keep up, it’s brilliant- loads to read!

HairsprayBabe · 02/03/2018 09:44

Well done quim! I know you had a super social month and you struggle to lose what you gain back so well done you!

9.6 for me again today,
I am all snowed in... never mind Grin

TVHubbyClaire · 02/03/2018 10:27

12 st 2 for me today.

Had a late dinner so was worried I would be up this morning but did a fairly active cardio tennis class because most people had called off due to snow. 3 of us plus instructor meant lots of faster running and shots for the hour

Nothing major planned for this weekend which will probably end in a visit to the local on Sunday night.....will try to behave until then.

Have a lovely weekend all and have a few treats/wines along the way Smile

Too right Hair - I still go cold when I remember last summer, in one holiday followed by a few weeks off the ball I managed to end up almost back where I'd been like 7 months earlier. 7 months work gone in a few weeks - I gained something terrifying like 9 Lindas Shock I wasn't doing anything too dissimilar to what I've done this month in terms of socialising, a couple of weeknight trips to the pub, having people over, still with a couple of fast days in between but being a bit lax. It genuinely freaked me out and I was only able to get rid of it by going INSANE for a couple of weeks, and even then I only got to my "acceptable weight", not my goal weight.

So the point is, I'm relieved to find I don't need to be totally terrified of breaking my 2:2:3 regime a little: as long as I'm really tight on the Golden Days I can keep it under control.

Hoolahoophop · 02/03/2018 10:46

Slightlysoreboobs your where I want to be congratulations.

9st 1 today for me, I'm going to try to be really good today and hope for 9st 0 or under tomorrow morning.. ..as in the evening I'm out for a Chinese and will eat ALL the calories! Blush

QuimReaper · 02/03/2018 10:59

Well done TV, another new low for you! Cardio tennis sounds like excellent fun, I should look into it!

koko it's 2 Fast Days, 2 "strict" days (usually 1000-1200 cals or so, keeping it light and sugar/booze/carb-free but not really counting), all with 10K+ steps, and chill out over the weekend (which in QuimTown is 3 days) Smile It's how I lost the last bit of weight fairly slowly, and I can chill out a bit on Fast Days when I'm at maintenance, but it's a delicate balance and midweek socialising can disrupt it, which is why I was so worried about having midweekers 3 weeks on the trot.

Basically it seems that for me, 5:2 doesn't work in the "eat what you like the other 5 days" way it's advertised - I think that is effective for people with a fair bit to lose, but once you get to a lowish weight it can stall if you don't still exercise care on other days. In general I hope I'll be able to get away with midweekers on special occasions, it's when I have a run of them that I get totally fucked. When I gained the insane amount I looked back over my calendar and realised I had had midweekers something mad like 11 weeks out of the last 14 (3 of which had been on holiday, i.e. eating and drinking like a hog every single day), some weeks having 2 or 3 midweekers. I was all "but I'm still doing the 5:2 around the socialising so surely I'm on top of it" but I was kidding myself...

TVHubbyClaire · 02/03/2018 12:36

quim i am really enjoying cardio tennis, much prefer it to an hour in the gym or running. Probably not quite as much of a calorie blast but its definitely more fun and nice to do something in a group

Hoping the weather gets better soon so I can start my morning walking again...

goingonabearhunt1 · 02/03/2018 12:40

Hi all, just rejoining after intermittent lurking on previous threads.

quim i'm the same, midweek nights out can throw me off, esp if there's alcohol involved.

Doing OK atm, seem to have lost the Christmas goals but trying not to get complacent as that's where it all went wrong before. Haven't weighed myself this week but I know I'm down from my 10st January high.

Been mainly on track all week (made my work lunches, planned meals, done my steps etc) apart from an unplanned bevvy or two. The thing I''ve found has really helped is getting my sleeping sorted, been going to bed early all week and it makes me a lot less bingey. Gonna try and keep that up.

goingonabearhunt1 · 02/03/2018 12:41

*Christmas bulge that was meant to say

BitOutOfPractice · 02/03/2018 14:03

I've battled out in the freezing ice rain (you know that stuff that stings your face) to the gym. Now, where do I collect my medal?

OP posts:
Feezles · 02/03/2018 15:01

I'm hiding from the snow today, so steps are going to be really low! And I accidentally ate DD's leftover ham sandwich (classic stress eating for me - I was worried she had basically refused two meals running). So going to be over my cals, but should be under maintenance. Let's see what tomorrow holds!

Not2bObvious · 02/03/2018 15:38

Get yourself marching on the spot feezles, I can do around 1,000 steps in 10 mins, high knees for extra effort. Let me know when you figure where the medals are collected boop. I just battled 1ft+ snow drifts to walk to my elderly Dad to give him dinner and dessert as I can’t get him around to mine. And spent an hour chatting (shouting as his hearing aids are pants) About 25 mins each way, normally 10 mins. Good daughter award expected (polishes halo) Not altogether altruistic, kids are driving me bonkers 😂

slightlysoreboobs · 02/03/2018 16:18

Help!! I want to eat ALL THE FOOD!! I’ve battled through snow to get to and from work. I’m cold and tired. My brain is supplying a million reasons why it doesn’t matter what I weigh and I want to eat cake and toast and junk Sad ConfusedHmm

I think AF is due......

slightlysoreboobs · 02/03/2018 16:20

Not defo hero daughter award to you HaloStar

Brew to warm you up

Not2bObvious · 02/03/2018 16:42

Why thank you slight, it’s bizarrely mild when wrapped up, apparently that’s cause snow is an insulator (I was educated on my visit too!) You’re suffering from post lost weight hunger trauma😬 Anyone on here who’s made it from 1 stone bracket to another or dropped a fair few pounds is then tormented with hunger. Or you could just genuinely need feeding. I saw a funny pic on FB saying there’s a risk of turning into the beast from the east with all the extra food in. Really funny sight on my walk, people in/out of the off licence clinking home with the vino. Sod the bread! Not sure what it’s like in the UK but here in Ireland people have gone mad for the bread, no low carbing over this side of the pond😉

Talk me down Slenderisters. I'm feeling sick with anxiety and getting the who gives a Shit feeling wanting to head for the junk. I'm packing at the moment. DC2 is having open heart surgery Monday morning. Just had the call from gosh confirming times. Can't ignore it anymore. I know diet is completely irrelevant compared to the operation but not eating everything shows I still have some control of something, which may help the anxiety. But I'm wobbling already and it's only Friday. 😢

TheDonald · 02/03/2018 18:31

Oh hoola that sounds so scary Flowers

But remember you are all in great hands. Some of the best surgeons in the world at one of the best children's hospitals in our wonderful nhs.

And you're right. Diet isn't the most important thing this week. If being hungry is making you more anxious (it would me) then definitely eat. It doesn't have to be junk. Lots of protein to keep your blood sugar steady would be best. Halloumi, cashew nuts, avocados etc. All yummy and will fill you up to avoid peaks and troughs.

Mind you a few cakes and treats wouldn't be the end of the world. Look after yourself Flowers [hugs]

Naughtysausage · 02/03/2018 18:44

Oh that sounds awful hoop.
I think I'd be the same. Would planning some special but still healthy meals help as a distraction?

I had a difficult Feb so stayed away out of guilt. My DH left with work for 6months so we had lots of treat meals and then since he's left, I've been a bit unmotivated in feeding myself anything decent/requiring effort. Eggs on toast is as much as I'm pushing the boat out. However I still finish 1.5lbs down for Feb.

Aiming to drop 4lbs in March. And going to do some serious meal plans so that I eat better as soon as the snow melts enough for me to brave our roads. It is not nice in Essex!

Good luck everyone!
