I HOPE THERE ARE AFEW MORE OF YOU OUT THERE.

I STARTED THE LIGHTER LIFE PROGRAMME 4 DAYS AGO AND HAD MY FIRST DRP IN WEIGH A KEOTONE TEST THIS MORNING.

9LB'S....

I WAS GOB SMACKD.......

WHAT A RESULT AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT IT WAS EASY. NO HUNGER OR CRAVINGS. APPARENTLY FIRST FOUR DAYS ARE THE WORST THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE A MID WEEK DROP IN.

I AM CHUFFED TO BITS...

IS ANYONE ELSE DOING IT?????

Oh no I think it is a good idea. I love the fact that I can lose weight quickly on it. I am just saying that once the weight is lost it is proving very hard for me to eat sensibly and keep the weight off.

I am hoping that long term I will manage it though. I may have to do 1 or 2 months of lighter life/CD every few months for a couple of years but if I can reduce the amount my weight yo yos between that then maybe eventaully I'll reach a sensible weight I can maintain.

I think the point I'm making is that if you have been overweight for years (which I have) then something like LL or CD reduces the symptoms of the problem (i.e the xs weight) very quickly but I think that the cause (my warped relationship with food) is a much longer slog to sort out.

mummycan · 30/04/2007 12:57

In that case Very Good luck LC - I really hope that it works for you. I was a plump child, an overwieight teenager, slim for about 4 years in my early twenties and have been big since about 1993. I agree with you that sorting out my relationship with food is going to take longer than 100 days plus maintenance but I can only try.

All the best to you LC

cheekymonk · 30/04/2007 13:55

Have just been reading about the glogen thing and wondering if you could do an atkins type diet when you came off then as carbs as so bad? Or am I missing the point!
Have a look atthis

cheekymonk · 30/04/2007 13:56

sorry glycogen thing and yes I did a link 1st time!

cheekymonk · 30/04/2007 15:19

well have bitten the bullet(but will not be biting much else for next 3 months at least) and got appt with lighterlife woman tomorrow.
Had docs appt today and was HORRIFIED at weight..
23 stone 12!!!
God, I was 22 after I had ds but my max is 24 4 so not far off it!
I feel so ashamed but sad too that I have been so self destructive. I do feel I use food like a junkie uses heroin.
Docs didn't offer any help/advice- nothing just you have put a lot of weight on!

cheekymonk · 30/04/2007 15:45

bump

oinker · 30/04/2007 17:18

Well done Cheekymonk............

I FOUND IT SHOCKING TOO WHEN I FIRST GOT WEIGHED.

WE ARE ALL IN THE AME BOAT.

I AM SURE YOU WILL BE FINE. DON'T GET DISHEARTENED IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE FOR A CLASS TO START. I STARTED LOOKING IN LATE FEB FOR A CLASS. EVENTUALLY GOT AN APPOINTMENT. MIND YOU THEY WOULD NOT SEE ME COS I HAD A HOLIDAY BOOKED OVER EASTER.

I HAVE READ ALL THE THREADS AND AM WELL AWARE OF THE RIS OF PUTTING IT ALL AND MORE BACK ON. I DID THE CAMBRIDGE DIET. MIND YOU IT TOOK ME YEARS TO DO IT.

I HAVE REALLY BALLOONED IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS WHICH I THINK IS RELATED TO MY ISSUES SURROUNDING PREGNANCY.

I REALLY DON'T THINK I HAVE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH FOOD. NOTHING DEEP ROOTED JUST LARGE PORTIONS. I AM WELL AWARE OF WHAT I SHOULD AND SHOULD NOT BE EATING BUT JUST IGNORE IT.

I WILL BE DEFINATLEY CHANGING..

ENOUGH FORM ME....

GOING TO START PREPPING DINNER..... VEGETABLE AND MUSHROOM SOUP. MIXING THE TWO TONIGHT.

DH HAS JUST FRIED UP SOME SAUSAGES AND HE'S HAVING MASH WITH THAT...

SOD!!!!

cheekymonk · 01/05/2007 17:49

Had my lighterlife meeting today. Counsellor was v friendly and nice and dvd was inspiring but feel a mixture of scared and excited about it all. I have to have medical on thurs then all being well I can join in on a class next weds.
I was surprised by how professional it all was, i thought it was going to be in a priovate house but it was in a proper lighterlife office.
Feel sad that it has come to me having to do such a radical diet to sort it out really.

Thanks yorkie girl. Well done on that fantastic weight loss!!!
Its funny but for the 1st time in my life I have admitted to myself that it is wrong for me to be this size. a human body just isn't meant to be the weight mine is and while that doesn't make me a 2nd class citizen it does mean I need help. It is a problem.
Have never truthfully said that before!

Oinker that's fantastic- you must be really inspired now to keep going. Did you choose any bars this week? I took 4 last week but I felt better when I had a day of 4 shakes than 3 and a bar so I'm going to stick with the soups and shakes for next week. (sammac undergoing a personality split)

Well done Yorkie you've worked so hard to get to where you are.
I'm really pleased for you.

cheekymonk · 02/05/2007 07:14

Wow Oinker, almost a stone in the 1st week- fantastic! Well done.
Also yorkiegirl- getting under another stone alays feels good doesn't it? (IE. under 13 sounds much better than over it!)
Well done ladies

oinker · 03/05/2007 17:28

Well done Yorkie

That's fantastic. I am impressed.

I have been really tested in the past couple of days. I went to SUBWAY yesterday with a colleague for lunch. I persuaded her that I had already eaten and felt bad so went with her... It wa tough. I was then made to feel bad last night cos dh wanted to go to the pub. I went and suprisingly found it easy. I had coffee and water. I told them I was allergic to lemon.

Oh, before i forget...

Yorkie did you get any problems with your period? Mine ended last sunday and I had a small bleed today????? Is that going to be the norm?

Any ideas?

Just been to my meeting this evening and we are being asked to have a week of 1000 calories a day (double calorie intake) to fit in with National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidelines that after 12 weeks on very low calorie diet there should be a week of a low calorie diet - anyone else come across this?

oinker · 09/05/2007 17:20

I have only just started week three.

I have read on some nutritional sites that LL are being criticised as Goverment guidlines state that a VLCD should be done for a maximum of 12 weeks. That may have something to do with it.

Have they given you some guidance regarding what to eat etc?

I have not been told anything at my group regarding week twelve.

We have just been introduced to banana and strawberry flavours...

I have so far lost a total of 1st 3lbs. I am chuffed. I hope it keeps dropping off.

How much have you done so far and was it consistent....

OP posts:
mummycan · 09/05/2007 18:17

Well done Oinker - that's fantastic.

They've asked us to increase the calorie count by making up soups and shakes with milk - they tell you how much to use depending on whether yoo opt for skimmed or semi skimmed. Alternatively you can drink the milk but that on top of shakes and 4 litres of water is olot of volume of liquid.

I have now lost nearly 32 lbs. I would like to lose another 2 stone but to be honest I want to get back to real life and real food so I'm doing it for another two weeks and then going in to mainagement.

My weight loss has been steadyish but has slowed down but I think that's because of AF and not drinking all the water- it really does make a difference.

I'm about 10 st 4 now but because I'm a shortarse my BMI is still in overweight to obese - not encouraging! Ho hum hopefully will lose a few more lbs over next couple of weeks and a few in management but most importantly hope I don't go back to my old ways - I must admit I am scared about eating real food again in case I go mad but that's what management's for.

Sorry to go on but just wanted to say that even all the people who were orinally very sceptical about my doing this diet have been very encouraging about the weight loss. Am seeing a few friends tonight - two of them haven't seen me since I started and don't know I am doing it and the other knows I am doing it but hasn't seen me for ages - will be interesting to see if people notice.

All the best Oinker - keep up the good work and keep posting - it's nice to have someone to chat to about it - DH is skinny bean who so does not understend - although he has been very encouraging.

mummycan · 09/05/2007 18:20

Also just wanted to say they said not to use milk in tea and coffee because then you have to go back to black the following week and it may be difficult - sorry for all the dreadful typos in earlier post - note to self - must preview before posting
