I can’t. I’ll kill myself if I continue the way I am going.

Today is the first day of my weight loss journey and I promise myself that even if I fall off the wagon, I won’t let it get as bad as this before taking action.

I weigh 18st 5lb. Hideous.

The reasons I want to lose weight.

  • I want to wear nice clothes without being uncomfortable
  • I want to enjoy having my photo taken
  • I don’t want to be embarrassed when meeting new people
  • I don’t want to set a bad example for my children
  • I don’t want to keep getting infections in my skin folds
  • I want to ease my aches and pains in my joints
  • I like getting compliments

Not expecting any replies as I’ve not asked anything but I shall be keeping a weight diary here.

do you have scales that monitor fat and muscle?

I got a set from argos. they are great as can see a difference in muscle when been doing more physical activity. I weigh once ever 3ish weeks. I believe every week is too often as if have had a week where lossis slow for example due to period then can be disheartening.

I know the body fat etc on those scales isn't exactly accurate but I have certainly noticed a difference with regards to weight loss and my muscle mass increasing as I do more so might not be 100% correct but does give a good guide imo. Also can be another positive monitor than just the scales. Been some weeks I have only lost a tiny bit but the muscle %has gone up and fat % has been lower. So that has helped me to stay focued

Snap8TheCat · 11/11/2017 20:16

That’s brilliant spider How do those scales work?

Thank you everyone for all your encouraging messages of support. I’m feeling extremely motivated by the thought of telling you all how much I’ve lost on Friday.

Great. Good luck all. Day 6 of no junk down and am delighted tho no visible difference I know I'm feeling better. It seems so silly now to think of all the gorging I did and then lamenting the extra pounds. I think I've real use I'm actually worth more and I want to be someone who 'takes care of themselves', and to see that as a good thing. If bored/thinking about food I've been cleansing properly, having a herbal tea etc. Win win.

Snap8TheCat · 12/11/2017 09:39

Feeling really good this morning!

Didn’t wake up hungry which is such an achievement because usually breakfast is the first thing on my mind. I’m trying to do 16:8 so stretching it out as late as I can helps me make it lunch instead.

I’m drinking tons instead which means my already weak bladder is being tested to the extreme Grin

You have to stand on them with bare feet and they send a tiny electric current through and measure how fast it goes through and they get the figures from that. There's loads online about how inaccurate they are and I suppose in relation to those underwater fat monitoring booths they will be but for a general guide at home I've found the figures are accurate. And sometimes even if I've only lost a 1lb despite trying hard they show a good fat reduction.

Cagliostro · 12/11/2017 10:46

I never knew how that worked, thanks for explaining! I haven't checked my body fat yet as you aren't allowed while pregnant. Bit scared to find out now 😳😳😳 but I'll do it next time I weigh myself (not doing weekly, will be in about four weeks as I want to find out my weight just before my 6 week postnatal check)

Cagliostro · 12/11/2017 10:47

Glad you feel good snap I always find that the later I eat before bed the hungrier I am when I wake up

Snap8TheCat · 12/11/2017 18:20

Had a cheeky weigh and am 4lb down. I know that’s not a true reading so im not entering it in to my spreadsheet but it’s very motivating.

Snap8TheCat · 12/11/2017 19:39

Snap - the fact you have a spreadsheet (and this thread) just goes to show you mean business. Great stuff.

Count me along for the ride, I'm the one in the cheerleader outfit! Grin

Snap8TheCat · 12/11/2017 20:42

Ah thanks so much! I really hope I mean business. It’s all willpower isn’t it? Not particularly much else to it. That’s both a good and a bad thing. I clearly lack willpower or I wouldn’t be here in the first place 😂

Can i join?

I weigh 16 stone 1lb. The most I've ever been...

StealthPolarBear · 12/11/2017 21:03

Hi cock :)
I'm really struggling with motivation.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 12/11/2017 21:07

Hmmm....don't beat yourself up, Snap. I reckon a lot of people, possibly yourself included, are addicted to sugar in the same way people end up hooked on drugs. I think it's a huge problem for society and frankly it's a miracle anyone is slim these days! We don't say to heroin addicts "you need more willpower", we get them proper treatment and certainly I wouldn't judge them, there but for the grace of God go I (I'm a recovering alcoholic, nearly 3 years sober). So be kind to yourself.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/11/2017 08:02

Absolutely have to agree with chicken there - be kind to yourselves
It's much harder to stop emotional eating if you're not on your own side.

I reckon it's a good idea to think of a couple of things each day you can do to look after yourself:

Go for a walk
Go for a swim
Paint your nails
Not drink wine
Dye your hair
Get a haircut
Get a massage
Get an early night
(I'm sure you can all think of more)

Then hopefully feel a bit better about yourself & be more thoughtful about what you consume.

That's my plan for the day anyway 😊

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/11/2017 08:04

Hi cock I am also the heaviest I've ever been. But I keep reading the title of this thread and am finding it really motivating Smile

Cagliostro · 13/11/2017 08:31

I'm also 16 st 1 but that's the lightest I've been since my 8yo was born 😳😳😳

ChickenVindaloo2 · 13/11/2017 08:37

Happy Monday y'all.

I am 11 stone exactly. Lightest I have been for over 4 years. And only "overweight", not "obese". So that's exactly 3 stone off since boxing day last year. Hoping another stone before Christmas/New Year. I'm only 5'2'' so that stone will make a big difference. I've come such a long way this year, having struggled with eating since I was about 10 and old enough to steal chocolates when my parents weren't looking.

I had a good workout yesterday at the gym. I did have a plateau at 11st 4 for about a month which is frustrating but with losing weight, it's about time and patience I reckon!

Have a good week

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 13/11/2017 09:01

Wow chicken well done you!
So inspiring Smile

Snap8TheCat · 13/11/2017 12:07

Me too smiled. I’ll drop dd at school and weigh when I get back at 9am. See you then for mutual back patting!

cock and stealth please do join in if you would like. The more the merrier!

chicken and smiled I know you’re right though I do find society in general quite unsympathetic towards obese people. I know lots of people are overweight and the average size is a 16 but once you get to a 20+ people are quite unkind. I am trying to be kind to myself and luckily have a supportive family behind me.

cag you should be proud of yourself! I was fine whilst pregnant with dc 2&3 (1 I was massive but he was a huge baby) but my youngest is 7 now and most of my weight has come on since then. Go easy on yourself.

Thank you for all the encouraging messages.

I must say when I finally hit the BMI where I was a normal weight and not overweight was a big one for me .

Snap8TheCat · 13/11/2017 12:49

Apparently for me that will be 11st 2lb. That’s 7 stone away! Shock

Well done though flora Rightly so you should have been proud of yourself.

As I said I’m aiming for 12st 13lb at the moment only because I haven’t been that weight since I was 21 Grin (when I had dc1).

OP posts:
Floralnomad · 13/11/2017 14:09

I’ve been massively helped by being seriously ill but it has set me on the right track , I’ve also been overweight for years since having dc it just seemed to creep upwards . Never again .
