I can’t. I’ll kill myself if I continue the way I am going.

Today is the first day of my weight loss journey and I promise myself that even if I fall off the wagon, I won’t let it get as bad as this before taking action.

I weigh 18st 5lb. Hideous.

The reasons I want to lose weight.

  • I want to wear nice clothes without being uncomfortable
  • I want to enjoy having my photo taken
  • I don’t want to be embarrassed when meeting new people
  • I don’t want to set a bad example for my children
  • I don’t want to keep getting infections in my skin folds
  • I want to ease my aches and pains in my joints
  • I like getting compliments

Not expecting any replies as I’ve not asked anything but I shall be keeping a weight diary here.

Kez that's very impressive about your Great North Run time - my maximum distance was 5 miles and that nearly killed me!! Could your GP give you the free referral to WW/ SW if that would help you? I never claimed it as with two small babies I couldn't be sure I'd attend every week, but I have a few friends that used it and they said it was useful.

Glad you are still going Smiled - I may be joining you with the 3st target once I finally pluck up the courage to weigh myself Confused Friday sounds like a plan...

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 05/12/2017 15:58

I definitely think the exercise helps! Despite what slim people with tiny appetites say. Good luck everyone Smile

I might ask about a group in the new year if I find it difficult to keep to being good. I doubt we have both options here as I live pretty rurally but I've heard people talk about SW so I think theres a group relatively close for that one.

Leaving running is one of my biggest regrets. I did it because I was out so much. Two nights a week and the long run on Sunday was getting so long it was taking most of the day. I was also with a very competitive club (that says they are not but they just don't realise!) and I was never born to be fast so kept feeling I was rubbish. I can now look back and think how stupid that feeling was. I couldn't walk 13 miles now, let alone run. Who cares about a few less minutes or seconds? Amazing how short sighted someone can be at 40 years of age!

Anyway, then life got in the way. I work very hard but it's sedentary. I have no hobbies so mooch at night. I travel quite a lot so eat out. I need to get my head around moving forward.

My starter for ten is sorting breakfast options. I love porridge, honey, Greek yoghurt and fruit. So I've started with those. Not too much honey and low fat Greek yoghurt now. I've changed from coffee to fruit tea, but I don't know if that makes much difference.

Is there a park run near you Kez? I intend to take my DC once they're old enough (in two years' time!) - I've heard really good things about them and it's free. And as far as I know you can walk as much as you want Smile

Could you take up a hobby in the evenings - maybe swimming if you're not up to running yet? I really miss my local aerobics group, such a lovely bunch of ladies, but OH can't guarantee being home on time for me to go (plus he would moan about putting the DCs to bed and the cost of the class Sad) hence I can't see me going back any time soon.

In the New Year I will have two mornings a week child-free - thinking about taking up (very slow!) running again or getting a leaflet distribution round - surely that would get me fit and give me some £££?!

Kez100 · 06/12/2017 16:08

No, there's no park run but I am actually a pretty good swimmer (in my hey day) so starting with a few lengths would probably be a good idea. I can do that locally in a small pool and if I need a bigger pool then drive to the next town as they have a council run leisure centre.

I'm starting by walking at work. Everyone goes out for a walk at lunchtime (because we allow dogs in our office) so I'm going to join them. I usually forget as they go at 12 which is quite early so I've asked them to think of me next time and I'll join them.

RubySlippers77 · 06/12/2017 21:00

Swimming will be great Kez! It sounds like part of your battle is finding an exercise you like and can find the time/ motivation to stick with - the easier to work into your schedule the better. Local swimming and lunch time dog walking will be fun Smile

I soooo much want to crash on the sofa but have the usual hour or so's tidying to do now the DCs are in bed. OH is watching his usual three hours' worth of TV Hmm he has started slipping in sly references to me being fat, eating too much cake etc to our conversations, I'm trying to avoid him TBH. He weighs 20 stone and I have never said such rude and hurtful things to him!!

Undecided whether to scoff a mince pie before I start the cleaning as I'm hungry already, I walk lots (22K yesterday!) but clearly it isn't helping me lost the pounds...

RubySlippers77 · 08/12/2017 08:10

Has anyone been brave enough to weigh in today?!

mumworkingfromhome · 08/12/2017 23:33

Great decision!! All the best. Keep working on your weight loss journey. Try ketogenic diet plan if you dont want to starve your way to weight loss.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/12/2017 22:11

Forgot to weigh in Friday. Will do it in the morning. I feel fat though. Am ire-menstrual 😤

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/12/2017 22:12

Pre!

RubySlippers77 · 12/12/2017 09:58

How did you get on Smiled?

I haven't dated yet, my WW membership remains unused Blush not sure whether to check on my weight and depress myself for damage limitation purposes, or just say 'sod it' till after Christmas!

Saw myself in the mirror earlier (something I try to avoid these days!), so many wobbly bits Shock

Kez100 · 21/12/2017 21:08

I'm still around. Doing well but have an all inclusive holiday coming up! I'm determined to do well. I love salads luckily so will try and work with them at main meals. Breakfast is fine as I love fruit and porridge. Drinks might be a bit more difficult but I'm not a big drinker so it should be fine. Why all inclusive you might ask! It was only £10 a day more so worth it we felt for lunch, a few drinks and a nightcap. We will see.

I've started exercising with walking. I'm doing two short "round the block" walks each day. I can't extend them easily without running the risk of being run down so I think I'll build to going around twice and then move on to different routes entirely.

In the new year I'm going to join SW. I've been told it will get harder as I get less to lose and so the support then might be worth having.

At least I can go there in January knowing I've been good in November and December. I will have to pluck up the courage to see my weight then.

Kez100 · 21/12/2017 21:10

Meant to say, good luck everyone for the holiday weeks.

Good luck with your hols Kez! I haven't braved the scales yet as I've been eating way too many chocolate biscuits Blush may venture back to WW in the New Year though for some moral support!! Have a fab time away!
