Restarting VLCD (Slim&Save) for Christmas weight loss

Hellohelo · 29/10/2017 07:36

Hi I've read mumsnet for a while but decided to join up to see if anyone is in the same boat as me.

I recently did Slim&Save VLCD for a month and lost 1.5 stone which was great. I then came off it to give myself a break and enjoy food, intending to get back on it and lose the final stone. Thing is it's been so hard to get back on it after a break!!! I've had about 3 failed starts over the last month.

So I'm now looking for support from you lovely lot! Is anyone else restarting or starting for Christmas? I made an order last night and ordered the Christmas weight loss calender they had free on the site, so hoping that gives me the inspiration I need!! I will start tomorrow (Monday 30th October) but going to wean myself in by not restricting myself to 4 packs as I know I'll be starving, so I will start properly on Wednesday 1st November. Because I like round numbers!

Anyone want to join me?

I got a pack of 14 days worth for about £50 (the simplicity plan so 4 packets a day and no normal food). The bars and meals are nice, not a fan of the soups or shakes so far but I've only started on Thursday so not tried many. I hadn't heard of it until this thread either but thought it was worth a go.

I have a lot to lose so hoping it comes off quickly to start with. Not sure how it will work long term, but I will cross that bridge when I get to a healthy bmi.

Babybrainx2 · 04/11/2017 11:17

Next time I will order a pack where you can choose the contents as I will know which packets I like after 2 weeks.
It will be £125 for 4 weeks.

Chocolatespiders

Yeah they’re similar to the Cambridge diet, I’m not sure about the carb content but it’s the same principle VLCD. I’m just so desperate to loose weight I am sick of starting over so hopefully this will help

chocolatespiders · 04/11/2017 14:06

Thanks minimalist. I have done lighter life and Cambridge in the past but could not afford them now. .will look at the cost of these different ones.

Day 4, family had an amazing roast dinner and I caved and had one of the left over roast potatoes. Missing actual food, although no headaches at all yesterday or today.

How is everyone else getting on?

minimalist99 · 06/11/2017 09:26

Babybrain sounds like you’re doing well considering you only had one potato.

Over the weekend has two shakes and a healthy meal, weekends are hard so rather than cheat I had a meal that consists of a protein (chicken) with a healthy service of salad with balsamic vinegar. I am planning to have three products during the weekdays started off with an exante apple and cinnamon porridge this morning.

Good luck with this week ladies!

12lb down in two weeks on Exante and feel fantastic. Medical issues I've had have disappeared and I'm edging back into my size 12 jeans.

OH birthday yesterday. Lunch was Gourmet Burger where I had my usual but without the bun and I had some sweet potato fries. Dinner with his dad was an Indian, so I just had chicken tikka main. My downfall was the bottle of wine I drank Angry Weighed myself this morning and only three quarters of a pound up so pleased with that. Back on it today through to Saturday, when we're out for dinner.

yasmin05 · 07/11/2017 08:52

I need to lose weight as well but could hardly get enough time to do it. Maybe I should try this one myself.

Babybrainx2 · 07/11/2017 10:59

overtired less than a pound after 2 meals out is great!
I'm doing better after my Sunday blip. Think it was just the slow cooker chicken and stuffing that I could smell all day that annoyed me. Was 100% on it yesterday and hopefully the same again today. Realised that I can have a pint of aldi own brand diet cola a day which has made things easier as I was getting bored of water and decaf black coffee.

I weighed myself this morning and down another pound from yesterday which is 9lbs down in 5 days, so not complaining at that.

Your loss sounds amazing !!!
How long have you been on exante ? I only started last week I have 5 stone to loose but I am hoping exante will help speed up the initial 3 stones (fingers crossed)

minimalist99 · 07/11/2017 18:22

Yasmin you should try it if you feel you can do it !
I don’t have time to meal prep at the moment with two toddlers and a crazy schedule so that’s why I picked up the exante sachets

Overtiredbackagain · 07/11/2017 21:11

Minimalist I've been on Exante since 30 October and I've finding it pretty good. I've done Cambridge twice before, which is good, but expensive at about £50 per week. VLCD work for me, I'm like you, work full time, three DC, youngest of whom is disabled, so this takes food completely out of the equation for me, and if I do eat, I just restrict carbs as much as possible.

I want to lose 2 stone ideally, so 12 down is great start.

Back to Total Solution today and it's been fine, not hungry at all.

Exante is definitely worth a try x

minimalist99 · 07/11/2017 21:57

0vertired

Today was my first day of having total solutions and I am starving everything looks so good including my dc’s rice cakes lol

I’m going to try my utmost best to stick on the total solutions and if I do feel tempted to eat then I’ll probably do what you do and avoid carbs.

Do you work out at all? I don’t have energy to exercise after the kids are in bed and my daughter wakes up about a million times so I don’t have the energy to wake up early in the morning but I probably should fit in a workout or something soon.

Overtiredbackagain · 07/11/2017 22:13

Noooooo, I'd love to, but I seriously don't have time. I'm up at 6.30, leave home to drop the girls between 7.15 to 7.30, then straight to work on train, til 4pm, then train home to round up the girls, home to cook DC dinner, then more work, finish around 8pm, then it's domestic bliss until I collapse into bed around about now Confused

minimalist99 · 09/11/2017 23:49

How’s everyone getting on this week??

I’ve been behaving drinking lots of water even though it makes me run to the toilet every hour or so, being on a low calorie diet does make me moody but I’m hoping my body will adjust to it soon.

Overtiredbackagain · 10/11/2017 08:11

Sounds like you're doing great Minimal x

Babybrainx2 · 11/11/2017 15:08

I'm struggling again today. Staying with my parents and everyone is eating and drinking together and I have a sachet of spag bol :( I've slipped up a little today and had a sausage (everyone else had sausage and bacon sandwiches for breakfast)

That said, my week 1 weigh in was 10lbs loss, hoping for another 4 this week for a stone total.

Snap8TheCat · 11/11/2017 15:09

What about a chicken breast or a boiled egg? Both are fine on plan.

Babybrainx2 · 11/11/2017 20:13

I'm not stressing over it. I'd rather a little extra now and then to stop it becoming a chore, than stick 100% and then quit because I miss normal food too much! I might keep some cooked chicken in the fridge ready for my weak moments.

I have decided that I'm not doing the full 12 weeks though. Just 4 more weeks for me to try and lose the weight I'd gained since my wedding. Will address the rest in the new year :)

hubbybubby · 11/11/2017 21:00

On day 4
Have 2 stone to lose
Hopefully do it in 12 weeks

Anyone else around 14st and have an underactive thyroid ??

PandaBear30 · 11/11/2017 22:38

Hi! Going to join you all if that's ok. I started Exante last Tuesday. I have 2-3 stones in all to lose, would love to get a stone or two off by Christmas. I've been sticking to two chocolate shakes and 1 caramel crunch bar a day, don't like any of the savoury meals or soups but quite like the choc shakes especially blended with lots of ice to make a thick shake or ice cream. I'm planning on sticking to that as ridgedly as I can so that I can have the odd proper planned lapse for meals out and other occasions.
Hope everyone else is managing to be good over the weekend.

minimalist99 · 12/11/2017 07:35

I messed up last, I had a biscuit and cup
Of tea with sugar, feeling disappointed but determined to get back on track tomorrow and focus.

minimalist99 · 13/11/2017 22:33

Hey ladies, hope you’re all getting on well, I’m trying my best to stay focused .how much weight do you think I could loose by Christmas if I were to stick to 3 exante sachets or bars a day?
