Restarting VLCD (Slim&Save) for Christmas weight loss

Hellohelo · 29/10/2017 07:36

Hi I've read mumsnet for a while but decided to join up to see if anyone is in the same boat as me.

I recently did Slim&Save VLCD for a month and lost 1.5 stone which was great. I then came off it to give myself a break and enjoy food, intending to get back on it and lose the final stone. Thing is it's been so hard to get back on it after a break!!! I've had about 3 failed starts over the last month.

So I'm now looking for support from you lovely lot! Is anyone else restarting or starting for Christmas? I made an order last night and ordered the Christmas weight loss calender they had free on the site, so hoping that gives me the inspiration I need!! I will start tomorrow (Monday 30th October) but going to wean myself in by not restricting myself to 4 packs as I know I'll be starving, so I will start properly on Wednesday 1st November. Because I like round numbers!

Anyone want to join me?

Baby brain I know exactly how you feel I struggle so much because of the sleep deprivation my DD used to be an amazing sleeper and for the past 6 months she's just refused to sleep through and she's insisting on several feeds during the night it's hard but hopefully we will get through it!

Hang on in there x

I've well and truly fell off the wagon.
Eating normally (not dieting but not indulging) until Christmas (when I will absolutely over indulge!) then do the packs again in January. I ordered 4 weeks worth after doing well in the first 10 days so have plenty to keep me going.
I struggle as my youngest still isn't sleeping through at 18 months and when I'm tired, I reach for sugar, and I eat when I'm bored. I start a study from home Masters in Feb which will stop boredom as I will be doing work in evenings instead of filling my face in front of the tv, and my parents are going to have my 3 year old for a week in January so we can sleep train my little one (they share a bedroom) so hopefully I'll be getting some sleep. I've not had a full nights sleep for 3.5 years!

There's also the issue that I'm fat and very happy so the slightest excuse to sack off the diet and I do!!

hope you are all doing better than me ;)

Welcome aboard concreteunderpants

How's everyone getting on ?

I have been ok not perfect but I have started going to the gym for 40 minutes to do a light workout I don't have energy to do anything else apart from light cardio and some basic weights. I am hoping to loose 3kg by Xmas I don't know if it's a reasonable goal but no harm in wishing ey?

Hello All!
After yet another morning of pure self disgust, I have cracked open my Slim and Save I ordered last week and am restarting with a vengeance. (Failed miserably on Exante and Cambridge, so all hope is resting on sticking with this). Am hoping all your fails and successes with help me along this time, as some of your stories are just amazing.

I have about 6 stone to lose to get me to my ideal curvy size 16, which is such a huge amount I'm trying not to think about it. Finding some batteries to go in my scales today, so I can cheer myself on with every lb I lose.

Managed it before 10 years ago on LighterLife, but as soon as I was on the Management Plan (i.e. allowed to eat!), it slowly crept back on.

Have realised I have serious problems and relationships with food.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who has surfed and researched Overeaters Anonymous whilst stuffing their faces...

I had a takeaway this week and have a trip to wetherspoons on Thursday for my SIL's birthday. I am up 2lb but that will just be water/glucose weight so I'm not too worried. I think I'm going to do the lifestyle version now with 3 packs + 1 normal keto meal. I miss fresh food!

2st by my birthday is well out of reach now haha! I now want 12 more lbs for my mid December birthday and 17 more lbs by Christmas.

This week went from good to bad to the worst in terms of the diet I had a Chinese and last night I went for Nando’s and I don’t even like Nando’s. Trying not to beat myself up about it and just get on with it.
I hope you’re all getting on better than I am.

minimalist slim and save says a stone a month and Christmas is 6 weeks away so maybe 1.5st?

The odd cup of tea shouldn't do too much damage hopefully :) I had a biiiig blip yesterday and ate a huge chocolate bar (time of the month, not coping haha!) but still down another lb today.

1st 2lbs until my birthday target (with a month to go)
5st 8lbs to my end goal.
Current loss 12lbs in 11 days :)

Hey ladies, hope you’re all getting on well, I’m trying my best to stay focused .how much weight do you think I could loose by Christmas if I were to stick to 3 exante sachets or bars a day?

I messed up last, I had a biscuit and cup
Of tea with sugar, feeling disappointed but determined to get back on track tomorrow and focus.

Hi! Going to join you all if that's ok. I started Exante last Tuesday. I have 2-3 stones in all to lose, would love to get a stone or two off by Christmas. I've been sticking to two chocolate shakes and 1 caramel crunch bar a day, don't like any of the savoury meals or soups but quite like the choc shakes especially blended with lots of ice to make a thick shake or ice cream. I'm planning on sticking to that as ridgedly as I can so that I can have the odd proper planned lapse for meals out and other occasions.
Hope everyone else is managing to be good over the weekend.

I'm not stressing over it. I'd rather a little extra now and then to stop it becoming a chore, than stick 100% and then quit because I miss normal food too much! I might keep some cooked chicken in the fridge ready for my weak moments.

I have decided that I'm not doing the full 12 weeks though. Just 4 more weeks for me to try and lose the weight I'd gained since my wedding. Will address the rest in the new year :)

What about a chicken breast or a boiled egg? Both are fine on plan.

I'm struggling again today. Staying with my parents and everyone is eating and drinking together and I have a sachet of spag bol :( I've slipped up a little today and had a sausage (everyone else had sausage and bacon sandwiches for breakfast)

That said, my week 1 weigh in was 10lbs loss, hoping for another 4 this week for a stone total.

How’s everyone getting on this week??

I’ve been behaving drinking lots of water even though it makes me run to the toilet every hour or so, being on a low calorie diet does make me moody but I’m hoping my body will adjust to it soon.

Noooooo, I'd love to, but I seriously don't have time. I'm up at 6.30, leave home to drop the girls between 7.15 to 7.30, then straight to work on train, til 4pm, then train home to round up the girls, home to cook DC dinner, then more work, finish around 8pm, then it's domestic bliss until I collapse into bed around about now Confused

Today was my first day of having total solutions and I am starving everything looks so good including my dc’s rice cakes lol

I’m going to try my utmost best to stick on the total solutions and if I do feel tempted to eat then I’ll probably do what you do and avoid carbs.

Do you work out at all? I don’t have energy to exercise after the kids are in bed and my daughter wakes up about a million times so I don’t have the energy to wake up early in the morning but I probably should fit in a workout or something soon.

Minimalist I've been on Exante since 30 October and I've finding it pretty good. I've done Cambridge twice before, which is good, but expensive at about £50 per week. VLCD work for me, I'm like you, work full time, three DC, youngest of whom is disabled, so this takes food completely out of the equation for me, and if I do eat, I just restrict carbs as much as possible.

I want to lose 2 stone ideally, so 12 down is great start.

Back to Total Solution today and it's been fine, not hungry at all.

Exante is definitely worth a try x

Yasmin you should try it if you feel you can do it !
I don’t have time to meal prep at the moment with two toddlers and a crazy schedule so that’s why I picked up the exante sachets

Your loss sounds amazing !!!
How long have you been on exante ? I only started last week I have 5 stone to loose but I am hoping exante will help speed up the initial 3 stones (fingers crossed)

overtired less than a pound after 2 meals out is great!
I'm doing better after my Sunday blip. Think it was just the slow cooker chicken and stuffing that I could smell all day that annoyed me. Was 100% on it yesterday and hopefully the same again today. Realised that I can have a pint of aldi own brand diet cola a day which has made things easier as I was getting bored of water and decaf black coffee.

I weighed myself this morning and down another pound from yesterday which is 9lbs down in 5 days, so not complaining at that.

I need to lose weight as well but could hardly get enough time to do it. Maybe I should try this one myself.
