Anyone interested in a super-extra-healthy October?

wantawaistagain · 28/09/2017 12:13

In Sept I started eating healthily and trying to get in some exercise and do 10000 steps most days. I did manage to drop 3lbs but I definitely wouldn't say I was the most organized or motivated about it-especially the exercise bit.
I'm on one of the Christmas weight loss threads but I thought I'd start this one too and see if anyone is interested in giving it 100% for October.

I'm in, need to do more exercise and stop continually binging on junk. Think I just need one month of really throwing everything I can at the weight loss.

BusterTheBulldog · 01/10/2017 16:35

Weighed myself today-11.7! Heaviest I have ever been!!!! Twould like to get close / just below 11 in oct....

Body pump and lots of walking today.

Polkadotties · 01/10/2017 18:57

Having lasagne with butternut squash 'pasta' sheets for dinner, hope its yummy

FannyTheFlamingo · 01/10/2017 19:20

Can I join in please?! I'm 11st 4. I was 9st 11 before I got pregnant and DD is now 10 months. Baby weight is bloody impossible to shift but looking to TTC again soon so need to start off in a better place!

I've been strict for a week now and been on 2 long walks with the pram. Haven't got much childcare so going to the gym is difficult.

RunningOutOfCharge · 01/10/2017 22:14

a good first day.....could maybe have drank more water though

onemouseplace · 02/10/2017 11:37

I had a good day yesterday - no snacking which was the main aim on a Sunday.

This morning also good so far, did a yoga class after drop off and managed to resist having a biscuit (or 3) with my coffee when I got back.

BusterTheBulldog · 02/10/2017 13:34

I did a circuits class before work and have managed minimal snacking so far today (lol that it's only 130!). Ham and egg cups with salad for lunch-super full now.

silverking · 02/10/2017 21:40

I've been doing ok. I had my three children and their partners round earlier for a big fat roast dinner but I didn't go nuts. I didn't eat all day in preparation! Also, I managed to walk away from the dessert which is a first for me. Oh and I didn't drink any wine.

silverking · 02/10/2017 21:40

Tomorrow's plan is to drink more water.

wantawaistagain · 02/10/2017 22:05

I'm off to a reasonable start food wise but haven't done any exercise yet.

My plan is to try and stay motivated for the week and then weigh in on Friday. I'm going to start taking a waist measurement as well and try on a too-tight trousers every Friday so see if I'm making any progress. I don't think my bathroom scales is very accurate-I might see about getting a newer one.

I'm a total night owl so going to go to bed before 11 Mon to Thurs for the month of October and see if that helps me be more more motivated to exercise.

7 week old baby screaming all day. Ashamed to say have eaten almost a whole box of Guylian chocs. Tomorrow is a new day.

Think I need to cut out artificial sugars altogether as really struggling.

BusterTheBulldog · 03/10/2017 13:51

I'm doing similar to you wanta and weighing in on a Friday, also have my skinny jeans left out and will also be trying on every week till I'm back in them.

Managed no carbs and limited snacking yest. Shake thing and banana for breakfast today-which actually kept me full up until lunch which was good. Lunch was hallumi with leaves and I have just given in and had chocolate biscuit-BUT I'd have ralphed the whole pack down by in the past.

I feel full and am trying to listen to that. Run tonight planned.

We can do this 💪

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/10/2017 16:56

I would like to join you if I'm not too late??

I'm doing the blood sugar diet and despite being very good most of September I only lost 3 crappy pounds. That was despite getting a new treadmill and running for the first time in years. And doing sober September.

I'm planning to not drink in October either, I felt so much better and slept brilliantly without drinking. I've hidden the scales too and I'm hoping I'll manage to not weigh myself again until the end of the month. I'm just focussing on my food, cooking lots of new meals and cutting right back on calories and carbs.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/10/2017 16:59

Oh, and I should add

I'm 5'7, and weigh 12.2 (started September at 12.5)

My overall aim is to get into the 10's, and I'd like to do it by Christmas. I know that sounds like a lot, and it's probably too ambitious but if I lose 1-2lb a week it's definitely possible to be nearly there.

HipppaHey · 03/10/2017 19:58

Lost 1lb since Friday. Sounds crap but it's better than nothing. DP has been away so I can have healthy dinners and have done 3 x 3.5mile walks pushing the pram.

Why is baby weight so much harder to lose Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/10/2017 20:23

I think my baby weight was so hard to lose because it was combined with all the other factors- breastfeeding making me starving, exhaustion, c-section preventing exercise, plus I had spd during my pregnancy and was very inactive, so I really think my muscle tone wasted away. Let's just say....ds was 2 last Friday. I still have baby weight.,

wantawaistagain · 03/10/2017 20:36

I'm counting an hour and a half of gardening today as my exercise. Sort of cheating but better than no exercise at all. I'm just reading the Blood Sugar Diet website at the moment-very interesting.

Wanta we have a lovely long running thread on here if you do decide to do it. I've been doing it over a year now, and there's a good mix of old timers and new starters

SoapyChoc · 04/10/2017 11:19

Sounds like everyone is making progress. I have managed my step count each day so far and have started back at the gym. My eating hasn't been perfect but I have still had a decent calorie deficit each day.

wantawaistagain · 04/10/2017 20:46

Today I did a 20 minute exercise DVD, some extra crunches and planks and 15 minutes hula hooping. I didn't do a lot of walking because I was driving a lot of the day but at least I did something. Planning on getting a good walk in tomorrow. I don't know if I would have the willpower for the blood sugar diet but I know I need to cut out the crackers and eat more protein. I barely eat chocolate or biscuits but I do snack way too much on savoury stuff.

Yazoop · 04/10/2017 21:08

Hello! I'd like to join, please! I've been losing weight gradually since April. I started at 214 lbs (my heaviest ever, I think, although I've never really been one for weighing myself regularly until recently).

I'm now at around 190lbs, so I've lost 24lbs so far, which is great. I've done it mainly by counting calories on My Fitness Pal which has taught me a lot about portion sizes, and I've also cut down on meat quite a bit (more for health and environmental reasons, but has made meals less calorific as a consequence).

It hasn't been too hard so far, I've been sticking to around 1600-1700 calories per day, aiming to lose 1lb per week (I'm just under 5'9). While I'm a a pretty healthy cook, usually all meals from scratch, but I do eat out about once a week and don't deprive myself from the odd bit of chocolate or junk food every now and again (but now tends to be small amounts within my calories, whereas before I'd eat the whole pack of chocolate digestives :/).

The pace of my weight loss has slowed quite a bit in recent weeks, because I've lost a chunk of weight and now expend less calories. Rather than cut my calories further, I want to step up my exercise, both for my health and because I love food too much to go to low calorie! I also want to build a lifestyle I can maintain long term and low cal diet doesn't fit into that. But I really struggle motivating myself to get moving, I'm a really lazy person when it comes to exercise. I walk a lot and swim a bit, but hate running and don't do the gym. To top it off, my foot is still a bit delicate after a stress fracture, so I'll have to ease into it. But no more excuses, I'm going to start doing regular exercise this month! I just need to figure out what....

Yazoop · 04/10/2017 21:17

Btw, my goal weight is 161 lbs (BMI 23-ish).

Greatdomestic · 04/10/2017 23:14

Can I please join?

I am 11.7, heaviest ever, apart from when I was pregnant. A combination of peri menopause and laziness got me here.

My initial plan is to:
Up water intake
Stop snacking in the evenings after dinner, unless it is fruit;
Stop snacking on junk at work - there is a constant stream of cakes and biscuits brought in
Increase walks with dog
Get back to yoga & piyo, not been for months.

I'd love to lose a stone, but half would be great, so that is my first goal.

silverking · 05/10/2017 07:31

Welcome Great. My weight gain came with peri, I gradually went from 9 stone to 11.4 which was my heaviest wright ever. It was a combination of being very lazy and scoffing copious amounts of chocolate every day. It has made me really miserable.

I was in a changing room yesterday, one of those with a front mirror, side mirror and a mirror behind. I nearly cried. I haven't seen myself like that before and I was shocked. I've done a lot of damage from being a chocolate pig.

I started my diet last Thursday with a starting weight of 10'10. It's weigh day today for me so I shall report back later with hopefully good news. I have been really good with food this week and have had no chocolate.

Good luck all.

silverking · 05/10/2017 07:32
