Tomorrow I quit sugar

OuchBollocks · 06/08/2017 17:29

I am OuchBollocks and I am a sugar addict. Not for me one square a day or a frozen curly wurly to take the edge off, no. I have it, I eat it, I want it more.

Last year I quit sugar for New Year, and stayed off minus one or two teeny slips until I got pregnant with DS, then being off alcohol and caffeine combined with the summer heat made the lure of a cold Fanta too hard to resist. Then I broke my leg and was bed bound and in pain and people brought chocolate to the hospital, and the meals all came with dessert, and then I had DS and more chocolate, then Easter and more chocolate, and although I've managed to drop a dress size so far with the 5:2 diet I need to jack in the white stuff. I am going to Ibiza in September '18 and I want to feel confident.

God help me,it's going to be hard. The rules are:
No sweet drinks, including artificial sweeteners
No chocolate, sweets, icecream, cake, sorbets, pastries, jam, marmalade etc etc
No crisps
Read labels of sauces carefully to check sugar levels.

I will update this thread for my own personal records. I am going to kiss sugar goodbye with the slice of cheesecake that is waiting for me after dinner. Goodbye sugar, it's been fun :(

B: Greek yoghurt, berocca
L: mussels to start and then half a chicken with garlic butter and a green salad.
D: nothing as full from lunch but I do have a massive sugar craving which am fighting hard!

Cantseethewoods · 17/10/2017 07:55

Oh no- I got all excited that we'd attracted a newbie but just a spammer. Ah well . That lunch sounds delicious Totty. Hope you managed to ignore the cravings.

B: Protein shake. Really looking forward to finishing this bag so I can buy a different one.
L: 2 hard boiled eggs, carrot, cucumber, pepper and celery sticks with humous, blackberries and a kiwi
D: chickpea, spinach and broccoli curry- vegan recipe. It was delicious.

I have a dinner tonight so I accept that I will eat dessert, but at least it will be a delicious one and not just mindless hoovering of Oreos.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 17/10/2017 15:28

Ha - so did I! I shall carry on posting as it makes me look at what I am eating. Hopefully we’ll have some pre xmas joiners!

Good luck with dinner. I actually think getting to a place where you can have dessert but not then spiral to an entire pack of biscuits is a good thing!

B: Greek yog
L: leek soup
S: too much Brie
D: meatballs

Cantseethewoods · 18/10/2017 00:47

B: Protein shake (again)
L: Rest of the vegetable and chickpea curry
D: 4 course French tasting menu with paired wines. The dessert was an apple poached in mulled wine with a frangipan mousse and pistachio ice-cream and then crumble bits. It was really delicious but not a massive portion, so I just really enjoyed it.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 18/10/2017 22:31

Your dessert sounds amazing. Am drooling!

B: nothing
L: scrambled egg, ham, Brie
D: haddock and pesto, sprouts, cauliflower

Have cold and feel achy. Need to find something that is not honey and lemon or sugar based to soothe throat

Cantseethewoods · 19/10/2017 04:32

I find lemon tea on it's own not too bad, or with a bit of fresh ginger in it. Otherwise, squeeze a blood orange into it. Yum!

Yesterdays scores on the doors

B: Soy Latte
L: 2 hard boiled eggs with crudities (pepper, cucumber, carrot, celery), hummous pineapple and a kiwi.
S: Protein shake
D: Tomato, mozzerella and avocado salad

OuchBollocks · 19/10/2017 10:53

Wow, I didn't realise this thread was still limping on! Grin I have managed to stay sugar free, more or less, since starting it. I did have a teeny slice of cake at my son's christening, but it didn't open the floodgates like it did Before. Nice to see other people are still at it.

I have been too tired to eat this morning. Got DD off to nursery then napped with the baby. For lunch I will have a bacon sarnie then a bit of ff Greek yoghurt, and DH is treating me to takeaway for dinner. Veg dumplings and chicken pho. Yum.

OuchBollocks · 19/10/2017 16:04

B: Greek yog
L: scrambled egg, ham, Brie
D: chicken tikka masala OR roast chicken with veg. Undecided.

Cold is making me want sugar.

OuchBollocks · 19/10/2017 17:56

I hear you there totty, I was out yesterday and cold, and suddenly the idea of a hot chocolate was almost irresistible. But I held strong. Go for the spice.

Have bought some peppermint and liquorice tea and some 3 cinnamon tea both of which are quite sweet to fool myself!

OuchBollocks · 20/10/2017 08:14

I'm going to go back onto green tea. I reckon I do 100+ calories a day on milk in black tea.

OuchBollocks · 24/10/2017 20:22

B. Sausage sandwich
L. Cheese ham and pickle sandwich
D. Chips and beans Blush
I'll probably have some crisps in a bit too. Today has not been a model of healthy eating. The DC are exhausting me and tbh I was sorely tempted to neck a can of coke. But I didn't.

Half term definitely danger zone for me. Hence McDonald’s

OuchBollocks · 24/10/2017 21:01

My DC are 3 years and 7 months. I really can't blame half term! I did manage to avoid the millionaire shortbread at a friend's house today though.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 24/10/2017 21:24

Oh god I found that time even worse. Tired = sugar for me. Like constant half term
