Right, after a good dipping my toe in the water I did my usual self-sabotage so here is attempt number 2.

I'm getting ready for a good week made up of good days and checking in regularly. Here's to green highlight marks (totally stealing that idea)!

bowbear · 17/09/2017 20:45

Hello all, I have been so rubbish at posting lately but the no S board is always in the back of my mind. Life has just been busy and stressful, I get to the end of the day and just plonk on the sofa.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bit of a struggle Two, it is hard to stay focused all the time. I've definitely had a few wobbles over recent months. I'm still undoing the summer damage and it's taking longer than I hoped which is frustrating. I'm aiming for half a stone off before Christmas (and then not to undo the hard work over the festive season!) I need to pick up the exercise but really struggle to find the time, energy and motivation. I'd love to be able to afford a personal trainer but sadly that's not an option just now.

I hope everyone has a good week xx

Hello all! I was on the thread before the summer and then fell off the wagon with a crash. I have been dickering around with diets - trying to stick to 1200 calories, falling off the wagon by Thursday, bingeing all weekend and then trying again in a panic on Monday. I also haven't weighed myself in weeks because I have The Fear.

New plan: No weighing. Or at least not for a while!

Back to 3 meals a day (vanilla No S, not my previous idea of having only 2 plates during the week).

Exercise: walking to work, HIIT DVD, trampoline x 2, 30 mins swimming while kids have lesson on Saturdays (although not this Saturday as will be away).

Weekends: S day rules apply but I will add in a new one. Sensible. I will eat what I like on S days WITHIN REASON. I will not go back to the cupboard for more biscuits at 9.30pm because the next day is an N day and I don't want to wait. Nor will I do as I did yesterday and consume a helping of apple and blackberry crumble with double cream after lunch, then again after dinner, and then eat 2 biscuits and a jam doughnut once the kids were in bed.

Hello TooExtra nice to see you back and you too Bowbear.

I had plans for a lovely sourdough and poached eggs dinner only to find my DS had "made 8 eggs before I got the perfect one".

Cheers son I'll just have cereal and toast again (any excuse) Confused

I've hurt my shoulder somehow so I'm just being a right old whingebag anyway.

Hope you're all doing ok.

MintCakeMavis · 18/09/2017 21:03

Hi all. Today was a green highlighter day. I had three meals and although I took a chocolate from a robot who offered me one (not a usual day at work for me) I put it in my bag and didn't eat it. And I've been for a run tonight.

How's everyone else doing?

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/09/2017 21:41

Hi everyone. Hi cheddar welcome back, your plan sounds good. Vanilla NoS is the original and best in my opinion! And the sensible you talk about is the 'sometimes' Reinhard puts in as a caveat for S days. Not always easy to do, even after a year I still have the occasional out of control S days like last weekend
Two sorry to hear you've hurt your shoulderFlowers and your DS used up all the eggs Sad how annoying when you had it in mind!
Mint well done for not eating the robot's chocolate! (That sounds oddGrin) Sounds as if you're doing really wellStar

twofloorsup · 19/09/2017 06:27

Thanks Posie.
I'm off shopping this afternoon.
Must do better !!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/09/2017 09:47

Thank you for the kind welcome back!

MintCake, do you work in some sort of futuristic lab? I love the sound of chocolate delivery robots!

It's a glorious day and I scoffed yoghurt and banana for breakfast before I left the house. It's as if I'm organised! except that I forgot my lunch and was late for work

Inthetropics · 19/09/2017 12:28

Coming back after a huuuuge failure...

I've been feeling really low as i don't seem to be able to control myself at all. Binge eating is destroying my life and i feel so powerles at times... My doctor told me a month ago that i was pre-diabetic and gave me a month to change how i eat so my test results would come back better and i wouldn't need to take meds and i'm actualy postponing my follow up with the clinic because i've been eating crap every day almost non-stop.

I need to get back to No-S Vanilla.

TooExtra - I've decided i will only weigh myself every 3 months. I fell back of the wagon right after weighing and not seeing any loss.

EddSimcox · 19/09/2017 17:39

These are the hard days. Loooong work day. Up at 5.45. Yoghurt/muesli pot thing on train about 7.30. Lunch with colleague at 1 (toastie and crisps so not exactly healthy). Won't be home til 8.30. It's 5.30, I'm on a train, next to the food car. There are beer and crisps just there. I'm starving. What to do? Hmm

Seriously, is anything allowed? Cup of tea I suppose. Is that it?

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/09/2017 20:16

Glass of milk Edd Has helped me when I've been desperate!** So much harder when you're tired though. Hang on in there.
Inthetropics Flowers** coming back here and getting back on it is the very best thing to do. Mark it and move on, as many times as you need, just keep on trying.
Hope everyone is having a good week. I am a bit stressed planning for my parents Golden Wedding party this weekend - in my house, aaagh! - so have been a bit naughty with takeaways and quick easy meals. Sticking to my plates though.

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/09/2017 20:16

Total bold fail, sorry

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/09/2017 20:32

Grumpy chocolate fail this evening, boo! not sorry

twofloorsup · 19/09/2017 20:37

I'm in no position to be offering helpful advice at the moment !!
Wishing you all well though.

0nlyMe · 19/09/2017 20:54

Hello Everybody! I'm new to mumsnet and this thread caught my eye. I've been trying to not snack between meals or have seconds. So this seems the right place for me to be Smile I have not actually lost any weight doing this or any other diet I've done previously. I've bought some Tibetan herbs which are supposed to help slimming because they speed up your metabolism. Whatever I've tried previously (with my friends or sister) has not worked for me and has for them.
One month in and nothing's happened with these herbs either but it's supposed to take a while. We'll see.
So if I'm right this is simply 3 meals, no snacks and no sugar? No sugar at all?

EddSimcox · 19/09/2017 22:06

I knew I'd feel sick if I didn't eat. I had rice cakes. 80 cals. I've already forgiven myself! but I also had a rather large plate of dinner, and a large glass of wine with it. ooops.

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/09/2017 22:25

Hi Onlyme and welcome to NoS. No snacks sweets or seconds except for days beginning with S, so you can have some planned in treats at the weekends. Or go a bit bonkers at the weekends and eat everything in sight for the first few weeks/months, which seems to be the pattern for lots of people!Grin The main thing to focus on is getting the habits sorted. Three meals a day, no snacks, no seconds, until it feels normal. Lots of information on the NoS website. Good luck!

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/09/2017 22:27

Edd the large plate and the glass of wine are allowed so no worries there! The rice cakes, whilst not ideal, will not have impacted on your calories so I'd just mark it and move on. The best of a bad job on a long tiring day.

0nlyMe · 20/09/2017 08:22

Thank you for the info! So the meals can be anything as long as it fits on the plate. I don't drink anyway so that's easy. Am really going to struggle with no sugar in my tea! I only have a mug in the morning but it's non negotiable Wink
So what does everyone eat? Should I be aiming for slimming world type meals? Basic sensible choices I mean?

EddSimcox · 20/09/2017 10:12

0nlyMe I haven't given up sugar. I've given up sweets. Which to me means actual sweets, and chocolate, cake, biscuits, puddings etc. Most of which would be out under the no snacks /one plate rule anyway. I still have sugar in coffee. Not sure if that's proper or not but I'm not into things I can't sustain long-term.
Of course I also have the odd pudding etc on S-days (weekends, and birthdays).
In terms of what I eat, the joy of this is you can eat the same as the rest of the family. And if I want fruit I just add it to the plate - so eg. at lunch I might have a sandwich and an apple.
Yesterdays snack was a real blip for me - I'm normally very good on work days. It was only a tiny thing, but its a slippery slope so I try to stick to the rules!

PosiePootlePerkins · 20/09/2017 12:40

Edd is correct, the NoS book determines sweets as food that tastes sugary when you eat it. And completely allowed at the weekends if you fancy it. A teaspoon of sugar in your tea is fine.

MintCakeMavis · 20/09/2017 20:12

edd sometimes the conditions are against you but it sounds like you did well in the circumstances.

Too I wish I worked in a place where a robot delivered choc everyday. But this wasn't a one off event with a novelty robot. Actually thinking about it I'm not sure how I'd do well with the temptation of that everyday!

I've had another good day but am really conscious of the fact that if I have a meal that doesn't satisfy me - whether because of the amount of food or that's it's a bit meh then it's a real trigger for binging on something 'nice'. I'd never noticed before but it's making me think more about my meals.

OSETmum · 20/09/2017 21:14

Hi everyone, sorry I've not posted in a while! Have any other teachers found back to school hard work? There's food in the staff room table nearly every day and I think my body wanted me to fall back into the same bad habits that I used to have at school, the bad weather doesn't help either! I've powered on through though and I'm getting used to ignoring the temptation

0nlyMe · 21/09/2017 15:40

Thank you for clarifying everyone.

pfrench · 21/09/2017 20:54

I've had to avoid the staff room completely. Bonus is that I get marking some at lunchtime so can leave by 5. Second bonus is time to exercise between getting home and last call for pickup from nursery. Win!
