Who's with me for couch to 5k?!

I'm going to start Couch to 5k when my new trainers arrive (today/tomorrow/weekend) and wondered if anyone wants to start too and we can have a little support group going?

I'm 39, 2 stone overweight, haven't done any running for over 10 years and even then I couldn't run 5k without walking. I have 2 young children and want to shape up. I currently swim twice a week and walk a lot (9,000 steps a day). But I'm still pretty unfit. I need to get my heart rate up!

So who is going to join me?! You need to be able to commit to 3 runs a week (30 minutes) for 9 weeks. Have a google of couch to 5k to see what it involves if you're not sure. I'll be using an app on my phone.

Who's in?!

I wish I saw this thread yesterday I was looking at doing the challenge but I can't run at all I can barely run 25meters without panting like crazy and starting to feel dizzy and that's not even running super fast. So I started yoga yesterday in hope to strengthen my body and do 2x 20 second runs to get my body steady. What do you guys think?

I'm in! If I spent as much time exercising as I did thinking about getting up and doing some..I'd be in shape already Blush

Can I join? I've just downloaded the app. If I understand correctly you only run every other day, right? I really have no excuse not to fit that in.

MoreProseccoNow use the turquoise app. I think it's affiliated with the BBC. It's really easy.

I started on Captain's thread in Jan but fell by the wayside in Feb after a horrible dental infection. Ready to start back if you don't mind me running alongside you all for support?

So I weighed myself yesterday and am 13st 6. I need to be 11st 10 to be normal BMI as I'm 5ft 8. I go on holiday in early July so that is some good inspiration and I start a new job in early August - further inspiration!!

I didn't run yesterday as I ran on Thursday. Off for a swim now! It's an open air pool so I'll feel like I'm on holiday! I did my 10,000 steps yesterday by going for a lunchtime walk (I work 2 days a week) and racing the buses home (I use an app to see when the bus is coming and I walk a stop or 6 if I can get there before the bus!!).

Hoping to do W1R2 tonight or tomorrow morning.

W1D3 done! I swear the 90 secs of walking pass by much quicker than the 60 secs of running - need to stop myself watching the countdown as when I'm mid-run and see I'm only 20 secs in feeling like I wanna die it doesn't do much for my motivation Grin

Well done MooChops89! I have to voice telling me when to run and walk and I don't look at the countdown as I'm too worried about falling over! I'm hoping to do W1D2 tonight or tomorrow morning.

Interesting my swimming was much faster than normal today. I have been stuck in a speed rut for about a year but today was suddenly a lot quicker. I think it must me the running. Ha ha!

Is anyone going to sign up for a 5k race to motivate them? I'm considering it.

Bad my work organises a 5k every October. I done it once and almost diedBlush

A friend (who is equally unfit) and I have made a three beer bet to see who can get the best time in the 2017 race

Right, I've just got back from doing W1D1. It was harder than I expected, which isn't a good sign. Good job I told DH that I'd signed up on this thread, so he made me start by coming with me (he's a foot taller than me, and extremely fit so our running styles are not exactly matched). Otherwise I'd have probably put it off Blush. But I really am looking forward to being fit again.

Lifebegins, well done! You took the first step which I think is the hardest!!

So did Day 1 Week 2 this morning. Way tougher - can only run at 4.2 mph or can't last the 1 min, 30 sec intervals BlushConfused

MooChops I am exactly the same. I need better self discipline to stop clock watching!!

Just completed my second run. Yesterday I jumped about in a very uncoordinated way to a Body Combat workout from you tube. My weigh in day is a Wednesday.

Had a good food day yesterday- had my 3 meals and one glass of wine. Managed to avoid eating any crap after dinner which is quite an achievement for me.

beepbeep I love body combat! I'm going tomorrow night, the lady that runs it is a body builder and while the class kills me I feel so good afterwards!
I get weighed on Tuesday but I've been out all weekend and eaten so much crap, it's not looking good this week 🙈 hoping the Couch to 5k will help me claw it back a bit!

I'm finding that couch to 5k is making me eat better. I'm less likely to overeat when I'm going to all that bother of running!!

Enjoying reading this thread.

Baby is nearly 3 months old so I am attempting to get back into some kind of shape....

Wk1D1 completed and I can't believe how long the 60 seconds of running seem. Sarah Millican is definitely helping though, great app.
I also managed to create a running playlist on Spotify, which really helps motivate.
