Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

I think she's focussing on long term and keeping it off and having a healthy relationship with food rather than my focus on weight loss.

We talked about having protein in lunch and less stuff in wrappers.

Lots of food is just food talk, which rationally I can see but it's hard to break those ingrained behaviours.

Just feel deflated that last session we talked about celebrating 2stone and what an achievement it would be but it was barely mentioned. Determined to keep my inner child who's saying well balls to you I'm off to stuff my face in check and never going back Sad

Thanks for the support all Flowers

MirabelleTree · 13/07/2017 14:22

Well we think your 2 stone is well worth celebrating FlowersWine I can see where she is coming from but guess you feel a bit like me when I came round from op and surgeon gave me strong talking to about my weight when I'd lost over 4 stone.

There is a lot to be said for upping protein I've found, maybe something to try? Everyone is different but I find it easier to see it as a process. If I try to change things all at once it overwhelms me.

LosingIsWinning · 13/07/2017 16:43

ChestyNut massive congratulations on your 30 pound loss!! That is brilliant progress. Absolutely brilliant.

I understand that your dietician wants to look at your whole relationship to food and not just the numbers on the scale and that's a good thing.

But today, you needed some positive reinforcement for the excellent progress you made, and a moment to celebrate a milestone before heading on to the next goal. She didn't accurately assess what would be most helpful / motivating for you today, and gave you something else instead which wasnt as helpful.

She's only human too and if she's generally good I would put it down to an off day at work which we all have sometimes. But the point is that the appointment went wrong because the dietician handled it less well than she might have, not because you're 'getting it wrong' or because 2 stone isn't worth celebrating. Don't let it make you down on yourself and definitely don't sabotage yourself... Maybe let yourself be annoyed with the dietician for getting it wrong, cut her some slack for being human, and celebrate your milestone anyway. You said at your last appointment you'd discussed how to mark it... Any ideas?

Rumtopf · 13/07/2017 18:29

Absolutely what Losing said. You're doing marvellously Chesty and I think it's more to do with with your dietician getting the tone of your session wrong today. You're absolutely entitled to celebrate it so I hope you've got something planned!

I understand her looking at it as a whole lifestyle change and wanting to talk about ongoing ideas but I think you're a bit deflated that she didn't take time to celebrate your achievement with you. You're clearly not doing anything wrong so please don't sink into that mindset.

ChestyNut · 13/07/2017 19:02

You've all hit the nail on the head and set me off crying again! Flowers
So good to be somewhere people get it.

She'd been away for a few weeks and I was really excited to tell her my achievement like a child Blush

Guess I felt deflated and a bit embarrassed?
Hoping after a good sleep I'll be over it, must remember I asked her for help and this is to benefit me not her.

I hit 2stone a couple of weeks ago and bought some dresses and off to the spa tommorow (let's not think about the horror of wearing a swimsuit)

Thank you all so much for "getting it" Flowers

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/07/2017 20:21

I'm late to the show Chesty but wanted to echo everyone else. Here's to the next stone Flowers, and enjoy the spa - I'm braving my tankini tomorrow, so we can be virtual spa buddies Grin

Hello, mind if I join in? I have/had about 10 stones or 140lbs to lose. I've lost 1st 9 so far after joining Slimming World. It's been slow coming off but I'm hopeful that this is the last time I ever have to "start" losing weight, if you know what I mean.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 13/07/2017 20:41

Welcome Bridget. Well done on how far you've already come. How are you finding Slimming World?

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 13/07/2017 20:46

Of course you can Bridget (also your username is one of my favourite quotes of all time Grin) - you've made a brilliant start. I totally know what you mean about being the last time you start losing weight - I think you reach a point where you're just ready to do it for the last time, and get a feeling of 'this is it' (I've made a hash of explaining that, but I know what I mean!) Smile

BreakingSad · 13/07/2017 22:27

Chesty I can't really add to the wonderful advice you've already been given, but a huge well done on the 30 lb loss.

I've went out clothes shopping earlier and I realised why I rarely go shopping. I had browsed tops online for a couple of shops before I ventured out, but was so disappointed with the tiny selection they had in store for plus size, I gave up feeling very deflated. One incentive to keep going, although it's been so long I don't know what my style is anymore.

Hello and welcome Bridget

swlondonnanny · 14/07/2017 08:11

Morning ladies,
Did my weigh in today
Current weight 110.8kg
Loss this week (week 18) -1.4kg
Will need to catch up with the thread properly, still busy with the move
Had a very hungry week (couldn't stop eating -luckily was sticking to my low carb food) + extremely tired (ashamed to say that I fell asleep at work during my break) . So that's on my list to discuss with GP on monday (together with my unusual period/bleeds). Think it will be my thyroid/aneamia again

swlondonnanny · 14/07/2017 08:34

BreakingSad you one very brave lady.... I absolutely detest clothes shopping... I hardly ever shop. The sizes confuse me as well. Can't find trousers /jeans which fit as I have quite high waist and all they sell now is not good for me... so I will just carry on with my leggins and dresses...
Bridget welcome and we'll done! I do hope so too - last time I need to lose weight (or at least this massive amount, same as you) and will just need to maintain in future...
Chesty well done on your loss. I am sorry that your experience with the dietitian was not good. How long have you been seeing her? I had a few appointments (2 or 3 I think) 7 years ago. I still remember them... we disagreed about everything... at the end she discharged me as 'I had my own ideas but was losing weight so clearly didn't need the appointments anymore' as she wrote to my GP... I don't know what diet you do but I firmly believe that different diets work for different people, we just need to figure out what works for us and what we are able to follow long term...

Rumtopf · 14/07/2017 08:47

Hi Bridget, what a brilliant start you've made!

I've lost only a pound this week, which makes 16lbs total. Have an active weekend ahead and am making dinner for tonight this morning so I'm not tempted by a take-away after a long drive this afternoon. 160mile round trip to take dd to her Dad's. Joy!

swlondonnanny · 14/07/2017 08:48

Notanurse hope the Tramadol is doing its job for you and you are in much less /ideally NO pain with it
NoTractors sleep is sooooo important. Very good for weight loss as well. Something to do with cortisol levels going up when in stress /not sleeping. I learned hard way. A couple of years ago I lost quite a bit of weight (was same weight as now) and started to do nights again and it all went pearshaped again. I was never slim but for a long time 'just' overweight. That was until I started to work as maternity nurse, doing 24hour shifts, with very little broken sleep. And I did balooned... so made firm decision not to do any nights anymore and make my sleep priority. It seems to work (together with my diet and over 10000 steps a day as exercise) ...

Rumtopf · 14/07/2017 08:50

Sorry London I missed your post as went to get dressed etc, well done on your loss and keeping your eating in check especially with moving. Are you starting to get settled in now?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/07/2017 12:09

Hi everyone,

Week 3
Starting weight 100kg
current weight 95.2kg
this week's loss 0.4kg

A smaller loss this week, but the first two weeks were quite a rapid loss so I'm ok with that.

Well done to everyone so far. I hope you're feeling less tired soon London.

Alfieisnoisy · 14/07/2017 12:18

Well done everyone for losses or not. We are human and we cope as humans do.

It was a 1.5lbs gain for me today but that's fine.
Now on Week 3 of C25K and managing to run non stop for three minutes at a time which would have been unthinkable at the start of the programme

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 14/07/2017 23:44

Breakingsad I know what you mean about not even knowing your own style anymore. I feel like I have to dress in whatever fits me, and not necessarily in what I would want to wear. I can't imagine being a size 12 or similar and just being able to go in any shop and wear whatever I wanted. I'd have no clue where to even start!

Oh and thanks for the warm welcome everyone Smile

MirabelleTree · 15/07/2017 07:28

Welcome CometheFuckonBridget

Well done everyone. Alfieisnoisy well done on your 3 minutes* I've read it is quite common for C25K to stall weight loss or to see a gain, it's affecting mine though I have lost this week. I figure we are fitter though so as you say it doesn't matter.

1 lb off this week (wk 35)
Total lost 69.75lb
Total left to lose 30.75lb

2 weeks until holiday and would really like to lose another pound to get to 5 stone. In theory doable but with interruption to weight loss by jogging who knows. One more week to go on C25K until we graduate, who,d have thought!

And one got a Fitbit with a heart rate monitor? Coukd I ask your resting heart rate? I'm coming up as 48/49 on my new Fitbit which sounds rather low. That's only one day though so maybe it will be higher with more data.

Mirabelle my resting heart rate ranges about 59-61, my dh is about 80 so it does vary. I think the average resting heart rate is between 60-80.

I'm still here and KOKO.
Wrote a long message twice but app playing up and lost them both Angry

Will be back later.

BreakingSad · 15/07/2017 15:00

To lose 113
Lost this week 0
Loss to date 44

Haven't had the best of weeks, so I'm glad it's not a gain. No energy but still did my cycling and steps (albeit a bit slower) which helped, as I didn't make the best food choices.

I like your spirit Notanurse being proactive is a good way to go.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 15/07/2017 15:56

Had a great holiday. Am up four pounds. But, that's what wine, cheese and salami does for you...

We were in the back of beyond, no sweetie shop. And, the Italians don't eat a lot of sugary shit as a generalisation. So, I have had two weeks of being practically sugar free (apart from the fermented kind, and quite a lot of lard instead though, obvs). I honestly didn't miss it. Not at all, I enjoyed the food, I knew I was drinking too much frizzante, but, I was on holiday, and, I made a conscious decision to carry on.

We discussed it as a family and agreed no biscuits, crisps or sweets in the house until the weekend.

So, how come we came home last night, my husband was tired and snippy at me, so I ate half a jar of nutella? FFS. Not even with a spoon - with my finger. Ugh.

Anyone got good resources on emotional eating?

Going swimming in the morning with my daughter. Aiming for x3/week.

Not buying more nutella.

Congrats on the losers - I'm hoping to be amongst you soon!
