Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

Well done on the losses and STS this week Star. Can't stress enough that my running is sort of fast shuffling but both feet leave the floor as I saw it on film when I had gait analysis Grin

SWLondonNanny I had a small mid cycle bleed back in August. I put this down to bereavement and peri menopause and it hasn't happened since.

Notanurse I'm so sorry about your gallbladder Flowers. It's only now that I realise how bad it was making me feel before and the pain is awful. I know it is no consolation but at least when you see the Consultant you can say you have lost x amount of pounds this year and you have been really consistent about losing 2lbs a week recently. I found Buscopan and a TENs machine plus heated wheat bag all helped a bit.

Babieseverywhere · 08/07/2017 16:42

WEEK THREE
This week loss : 1.6 lbs
Total Loss on My Fitness Pal : 8.9 lbs
Total Loss on Trend weight : 4.2 lbs
Target to lose : 120 lbs

NB. Trend weight is very cautious until it has several weeks of weight data and then it gets far more accurate.

I am averaging 3 lbs loss a week. I am very happy with that :)

LosingIsWinning · 09/07/2017 01:01

Do you have room for a late joiner?

I am early 40s, current weight 278. I have always struggled with my weight, lost about 80lb ten years ago and have since put it all back on and then some. After years and years of up and down, it is time.

Mainly because I am a candidate for risk reducing surgery related to a genetic high cancer risk. But I've been told that at my current size, the risk of surgery outweighs the benefit of surgery and I can't go ahead. I can't believe I have allowed things to get that bad, but here we are. The surgeon has agreed to see me again in six to eight months and reasses then.

I am telling myself that if I use this as my wake up call, it will have been a good thing. Because I will not only reduce my cancer risk with the surgery, but I'll massively improve my overall health by getting to the weight at which they'll do the surgery (under 200lb).

The last time I felt good about my body, I was 12st. So here are my goals:

Starting weight: 278
Motivating goal: 249 (closer to 200 than 300)
Health goal: 199 (suitable for risk reducing surgery)
Ultimate goal: 168

I'm using MFP (1450 kcal) and walking at lunchtime (work break) for 45 minutes. I have a cross trainer at home but am not back to using it yet... Think I'm too heavy! Thinking I'll try to get to 249 and then kick it up a notch on the exercise front.

We'll done to all for doing what needs to be done!

Alfieisnoisy · 09/07/2017 06:50

I have now got my 3 stone awardWineHalo

I did the 5k Park run again yesterday and it took me just over 50 minutes so my goal is to reduce the time.

Running is great and I love it because I am slow....toddlers would go haring past me. Even my tortoise might if there was a cat about (territorial little shell monster). I get one foot in front of the other though and I get there.

I've just signed up for rebelfit's Bronze mission (he's on Facebook and great). Got my notebook and am writing down some fitness goals.

No exercise planned today as I am aching all over after yesterday....after the run we walked round town.

Alfieisnoisy · 09/07/2017 06:50

Welcome to you Losing.

Friendly thread with lots of support here.

MirabelleTree · 09/07/2017 07:17

Well done Babies and Alfie . Alfie I've been saying a tortoise could overtake me! I've heard there are quite a few people doing C25K at our Parkrun. I want to go but can only do the holidays so at this point I might wait until I can run it all. Next week is 3 x 25 mins, which is a bit daunting in theory but what I like about it is it challenges your mental limits and I know my body can do it, it's just my mind holding me back.

Welcome Losing It was needing surgery that got me going back in November. If you lose a ready 2lb a week 6 months shoukd get rid of 52lbs. I used something like MFP and my Fitbit and made sure my calorie deficit was 7k a week and it worked really well. Only exercise I did u til pretty re entry was walking, don't underestimate how effective it can be. After a bit I downloaded some running tracks which helped me walk a bit faster.

MirabelleTree · 09/07/2017 09:41

I did it. Spur of the moment session on dog walk but I have just continuously jogged 5k. Me. Mirabelle 'WTF is the point of jogging'. Did it. Grin

ChestyNut · 09/07/2017 09:52

Morning all.

Loss this week- 12oz ( 3/4lb?)
Total loss- 29lb 4oz
To lose- 70lb 12oz

Bit disappointed with less than a pound as not changed anything but guess it's to be expected having smaller loss weeks?
Takes me under another stone weight wise though Smile

I'm so impressed with you all running!
I tried years ago when I weighed 11stone and in my head I would bounce round the park several times, the reality was very different! I was a sweaty, thudding slow mess after 100 yards, can't even imagine trying at current weight.

notanurse have you noticed any foods that trigger the attacks? Here's hoping the tramadol give you some relief until you see the Consultants.

Alfie well done! That's my next goal.

Losing welcome Flowers

Saw the physio this week, got some new exercises and having accupuncture in 2weeks. Fingers crossed it helps.

ChestyNut · 09/07/2017 09:54

Mirabelle that is amazing! How do you feel?
I'm very aware I'm going to have to start exercising but can't decide what with my dodgy back.
What dog have you?

MirabelleTree · 09/07/2017 10:05

Well done Chestynut. Nearly 30% in the bag for you now. Fingers crossed the Physio and exercise help. What about swimming? Walking doe the job really well though. If you downloaded Strava (free) you can track what you do and your times and hopefully gradually see an improvement.

I feel ok thanks, slightly like it was a dream and didn't happen!

Just waving in passing.

Am on holiday, on a farm stay in the Alps. Food's amazing, but, so is the walking and river swimming, and there is no chocolate or sweets to be had. I'm aiming to STS when I get home.

My mood is't great - I need to tackle my weight and fitness. Exercise helps my mood - so I'll make it a focus when I get back to Blighty.

Well done losers! You're inspiring.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 09/07/2017 15:30

Welcome Losing, I'm a newbie here too, it's nice here.

Well done everyone on their loss, and Mirabelle on the run. The last time I ran anywhere was in the parent's race at last year's sports day. I tore my calf muscle and limped for about three months afterwards, so I'm a bit cautious. At the moment it's just dog walks (only about 30 mins as he has little legs) and a personal trainer once a week.

Maraudersmap1 · 10/07/2017 10:27

Hello everyone.
I'm signing on for the first time. I'm at the start of my journey. I've been feeling low about my weight for the last few months (relationship weight gainBlush)and today I've begun to do something about it. This morning I went swimming - very slowly. Managed 20 lengths in half an hour. Scales didn't lie this morning at 255. But hey everyone has to start somewhere.

Rumtopf · 10/07/2017 10:54

Hi Marauder, welcome! Well done on the swim.

I'm menu planning for the week before I pop to the shops. Anyone have any blinding inspiration for me?

LosingIsWinning · 10/07/2017 11:03

Thanks everyone for the lovely warm welcome. It's so encouraging to see all of your "total loss" figures! 3 stone Alfie! That's brilliant.

Hello to my fellow newbies Americano and Marauder!

Here's my first check in:

Starting weight: 278
Current weight: 273
Loss this week: 5lb
Total loss: 5lb

I have been here enough times to know the early weeks give the best losses, but still, it's a motivator!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 10/07/2017 11:50

That's a really good start Losing, my first week was a big loss too and I a fair bit of it was fluids and just having less food in my digestive system.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 11/07/2017 21:46

Welcome newbies! Smile

I've not had a good week this week, so I'm all about damage limitation at the moment, trying to keep a lid on it...I have a weekend away this weekend, and I had lots of grand plans to use the hotel gym, but after been run ragged by the DCs and work, I might just sleep instead! I will take a dip in the pool though Wink

KOKO everyone Smile

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/07/2017 22:45

Sleep is very good for weightless NoTractors. Grin For one thing you're not eating while you're asleep, plus it weakens your willpower if you're tired.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 12/07/2017 19:05

That is so true! I should be more protective of my sleep - it's the first thing that goes a bit awry when I have lots to do. I will enjoy my lie-in and control myself at the subsequent breakfast buffet Grin

ChestyNut · 13/07/2017 10:38

Hello you lovely lot, everyone's looking slimmer Grin

Horribly down this morning, had a review with dietician which wasn't all that positive, talked about psychological stuff which had me in floods of tears Sad

I'm trying so hard to stay on track and lose weight but she wants me to eat 3 proper meals as I tend to miss breakfast and have fruit and a cereal bar at lunch. I know I'm sticking to stuff I see as "safe" but it's so hard to break the "rules" I've developed.

Just disappointed that I thought I was doing well and I'm still doing it "wrong"

Anyway how's everyone else doing?

Rumtopf · 13/07/2017 11:35

Chesty did she give you any further support than just telling you what you're doing isn't quite right and you ought to eating three meals a day?

Not everyone fits into that remit.

Take heart, you're making positive changes for you and it really is a tough thing to do.

MirabelleTree · 13/07/2017 11:46

Chesty you have lost 30lbs. If you can find something that weighs that it is very heavy. You are doing well but as many people, doing it in a different way to what a NHS dietician suggests. That puts you in line with a huge chunk of the population but unlike a lot you are losing weight and improving your health. Didn't see it until I looked back up thread just now, I have a sort of Labradoodle.
