Anyone looking to lose 100lbs in 2017 - Part 2

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 04/05/2017 17:47

Hello, welcome to the second instalment of the ‘Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017’ thread Smile The first thread is here, if you want to read it: Part 1

We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and we’re all starting to see some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food (at least, mine are changing!) Collectively we’ve lost 318 lbs since the start of the first thread, which is pretty amazing Grin

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time.

I will make one caveat, which I think is quite important for the spirit of the thread - we’re all here because we have a LOT of weight to lose. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this may not be the thread for you. Good luck with the weight loss, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals.

And with that little speech done, I’ll shut up now Grin

I wish I had only 100lbs to lose Blush
I gave up trying to be a healthy weight a long time ago. It's not easy when you have a narcissistic mother who's always tearing you down.

You all seem to be doing well though, ladies. Keep up the good work Grin

Alfieisnoisy · 05/07/2017 06:17

Hoping for my 3 stones award this week....it's been hard fought for as I've been stuck around 2 st 10/11 loss for weeks.

Still running

Hoping to go swimming tomorrow.

Loving my exercise routine.

Janneritt I have 120 lbs to lose to be considered overweight ! If I get there I will try for lower.

I hear you on the mother front...everything I say and do is wrong. My defence is to agree with everu thing and don't cry until I am on my own.

Alfie You sound super fit. Hope you get to 3 stone asap.

Update I am 12 days in and broke the half stone barrier ! Advantage of losing weight when very heavy, easy to get big losses at the start :)
Hoping for a stone by the end of four weeks :)

MirabelleTree · 05/07/2017 11:56

I so hear you on the mother front Janneritt Mine died a year ago and sadly I don't think it is a coincidence that this is now my most successful time of losing weight ever. She absolutely hated me being thinner than her and would do everything she could to make sure I wasn't. It would be easy to be charitable and say she didn't realise what she was doing but she had Dementia and by the end the inner workings of her mind were exposed as she would say it aloud and told her carer how she would deliberately not wash and wear dirty clothes as wanted to move care homes so I am very sure she knew exactly what she was doing. Having a daughter myself I just can't imagine doing that to her, I really can't .

Well done Babieseverywhere

Notanurse'I get it. It is a long hard slog and I think the halfway mark is a turning point. Once you've got to a certain point a 7lb loss shows up a lot more. It's keeping the momentum going through the tough sort of transition phase. Welcome to the gallstone club, sorry you are in it Flowers Are you going to see a Consultant next ?

Alfie'I'm really impressed with your Parkrun. I'm doing one apparently, so I've been told! Don't feel ready for it yet though. I'm very slow so have been looking at the local ones to see which has the slowest finishers!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 05/07/2017 12:09

Come and join us Janneritt, we'll be nicer and more supportive than your mother. It'll be fun. Well, OK, not fun exactly, but it's nice to have a bit of togetherness through the hard work. Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 05/07/2017 18:10

Hope you do feel you can come back, Jannerite - or if not, lurk along!

Everyone is doing so well, you're giving me so much inspiration to keep going! Grin I'm finally getting my head back in, after a couple of being a bit distracted, so I'm 'all in now' - I must be down on calories this week, I've been too busy to eat lunch. Big project at work is finishing up so it's all hand to the tiller, just some hands are more of a hindrance than a help! Wink

Hi Janneritt! I'm sorry to read your mum sounds so unsupportive, hope you come back and join in as there's a really lovely group on here.

Babies that's brilliant, well done!

Tractors, hope the project gets delivered without too much of a hindrance.

Alfie, awesome job on the exercise. My fitness has taken a dive with my shoulder pain and head not being in the zone, have physio to sign me off tomorrow and then I'll be back on it. I'm not brave enough to do a park run though.

Notanurse, what are the next steps now? Appt with the consultant? Hope it doesn't take too long.

Mirabelle sorry to read about your Mum, but also that she hampered your weight loss efforts. I've no idea why someone would do that, my daughter drives me crazy at times but I'd only ever wish the very best for her.

I've had a happy day today, time being productive in the garden and dh was fitted with a cpap machine for his sleep apnoea. It's been worrying me immensely for ages as it can have such serious health implications. Fingers crossed he has a wonderful nights sleep with it tonight.

Jannerite · 06/07/2017 00:35

The thing is if I don't start now, then it'll probably be the death of me. Recently walking up the stairs sounds like I've run a marathon Blush My chest hurts as well - which can't be a good sign. I've only just turned 25. I'm about 250lbs overweight. That's means I'm the weight of THREE women. I'm so ashamed of myself. I walked up 4 flights of 10 steps (so about 40 in total) quite recently. When I got to the top somebody came over to me, put their hand on my shoulder and asked if I was okay. I dread to think what I must have looked like.

Babies congrats on the weight loss. That's brilliant Grin

Babies & Mirabelle I'll never understand how a mother can't support her child, regardless of how she feels. Mine will either make me feel like crap - "well done on losing 2lbs, we'll see how long this will last though. You'll have gained it back and more by next week" or she'll buy a cake I really like and then complain when I turn it down "but you like cake. You're not starving yourself, are you? One small piece won't hurt you" - knowing full well once I start I'll end up eating most of it. Blush
Congrats on the weight loss though, Mirabelle. It's just a shame it only seemed to be successful after your mother's death

Thanks Americano, Tractors & Rum - together your names sound like the members of a cheesy pop group Wink - support sounds good, and as you're all doing so well, all of you, it'll be a big motivation

Ashgr0ve · 06/07/2017 01:05

Hey losers! Everyone's doing so well, Babies & Mirabelle you must be thrilled!
I've lost nothing, or at least balanced out Blush but I'm trying to focus on the positives. I feel better, my clothes are fitting better.

Unfortunately the mirror is not reflecting how good I'm feeling. I get a fright when I pass a mirror or window and catch sight of myself, it really knocks back the confidence. I mean it's all well and good to tell yourself that you'll see the difference soon enough but fuck me I look awful. This is normal right? I mean, I'm making the changes and it'll get better, but it's ok to not like what I see right now?

MirabelleTree · 06/07/2017 07:23

Ash I don't look in the mirror or at my reflection. Apart from my face. I nearly caught sight of myself in a reflective door last night but looked the other way. I'll look when I am where I want to be I have decided.

Jannerite I don't get it either. But I don't think really I want to get it as I want to be the opposite of that if that makes sense, what about for now deciding to make changes for today ? Don't worry about tomorrow , just for now do one day. If your Mother gives you cake put it in her fridge and say 'I'm not hungry at the moment, let's have it later'. If she kicks off tell her very calmly and showing as little emotion as possible that trying to force you to eat when you are not hungry is abnormal behaviour and you will not stay if she carries on. And carry the threat through if she continues, don't discuss it, just go.

The only power you have with women like this is keeping calm, stating your position and then removing yourself so there is no one left to argue with. What worries them is their control of you slipping. She'll know you inside out and know exactly which buttons to press. Changing your reaction to her is the only way to deal with her. Mothers like this need to know you won't tolerate any crap and that you will walk away to ever be more careful about what they say. Easy to say but very hard to do after a life time of conditioning but you are still young and if you can start to take back control from her gradually it will make the rest of your life easier. Don't wait another 20 years as I did. At your age I didn't even realise what mine was up to as she was very clever about it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/07/2017 12:40

You don't need to tell her Jannerite. I'm not eating between meals at all, and having less carb (making sure the carb is low GI) with my meals. I even had a piece of H's birthday cake after dinner on Monday, I was doing the portions so I made sure everyone had smallish pieces and made mine even smaller, then let the DC have second helpings.

I've been dieting for 2 weeks today and no fucker in the family has even noticed, which is brilliant.

I have just finished Week 2 of Couch to 5k and it got easier as the week went on.

Starting Week 3 on Saturday and will do the podcast during the 5k Park run.

Weighing in tomorrow and hope finally to have achieved that 3 stone target.

I am following SW but not being too "on it". I've developed a very relaxed approach to food. It's only food....if we go out socially then I eat and drink what I want and say "it was worth it" 😂😂GrinGrin

Have also registered to do a 10k run in October.....I can't quite believe I have just written that. Me...running!

Did a yoga class this morning as well.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 06/07/2017 18:32

Bloody hell Alfie that's impressive!

I can look at my reflection face on, but not from the side. That makes me cry.

I'm currently eating the most gorgeous after-dinner nectarine. Not too soft, lightly fragrant and just perfect, really. It's the simple things Smile

Babieseverywhere · 06/07/2017 22:29

Alfie wow, running and yoga ! You go girl :)

Jannerite It sounds like you feel ready to make a change in your life. You are so young with your whole life ahead of you. Join us :)

One advantage of being very overweight (like we ALL are on this thread) is that small changes to your food choices will lead to massive losses.

No need to cut out all treats at the start, just watch portions and try to eat a little more healthier.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/07/2017 09:30

I woke up early this morning for a wee, so I weighed myself and it's the lowest so far this week, so that's the weight I'm choosing as this week's loss. Wink

2 weeks
Start 100kg
Now 95.6kg
This week's loss 1.4kg

How is everyone sleeping? My sleep has gone to shit while dieting as I've been waking up for a wee and then can't go back to sleep. This morning wasn't too bad as it was just before 6am, but some mornings I wake at 4am and then I'm tired all day. I'm only two weeks in though, so hopefully I'll get back to normal as my body gets more used to the regime change.

MirabelleTree · 07/07/2017 10:24

Well done BlackAmericano, great couple of weeks. My sleeping is generally ok as knackered from exercise but the light is waking me up.

Alfie no half measures then Grin I'm a complete wuss and have nearly a year to get to 5k. Completed week 6 today which was a 22 minute run, we did 2.5k. Run is overegging it but even so that was unthinkable a few weeks ago when 60 seconds was hard.

Rumtopf · 07/07/2017 11:39

Awesome effort on the running Alfie and Mirabelle!

Great loss Americano, you're doing brilliantly.

I've sts this week which is a bit irritating as have been really focused and not gone over my calorie limit on MFP. Have had some really nice satiating food too but it is AF week so I'm hoping that's why I've not see any movement on the scales.
We're off to see U2 and High Flying Birds tomorrow at Twickenham, I can't wait! Grin

MirabelleTree · 07/07/2017 12:15

I'm not weighing this week Rumtopf as was 7 bloody days late with AF and nearly exploded. I'll have stuck to enough calories to lose a pound and will just trust that it will show on scales in due course. Looking at my stomach it will not be tomorrow!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/07/2017 12:44

I find it more helpful to look at a 4-week rolling loss as I find AF makes a difference to the rate of loss too.

I'm impressed with everyone's exercise regime. I hate exercise (which may be a contributory factor to my current weight Wink ). I'm trying to read Fast Exercise so that I can at least be efficient with what I do, but it's really dull.

BreakingSad · 08/07/2017 09:04

Well done BlackAmericano

Mirabelle and Alfie you both so doing so well with the running.

I've sts, also AF is due so amazed I've stayed the same, as my appetite went through the roof. My lunch time smoothie wasn't cutting it, as I was ravenous in the afternoon, so swapped it for more protein, which really helped.

Morning ladies,
Quick weigh in today
Current weight 112.2kg
Loss week 17 -0.8kg
Sorry I am a bit MIA but we are moving flats and as my DH can't help (still recovering from his hip replacement surgery) so life is hectic now.
Still sticking to my diet though
I seem to have a bit of a problem recently with my periods /bleeding between the periods. (had my smear not long ago so know nothing sinister) Just wondering it anyone experienced the same after a weight loss?
