For years I managed to maintain my weight but since I turned 40 and had a injury which prevented me doing my usual exercise the weight has slowly crept on. I was just over 11st on my 40th but two and a bit years later I am at least 12 st 8 (just come back from a week on holiday where I really overindulged, I will weigh in accurately tomorrow morning!) The last time I was this heavy I was pregnant!
Earlier this year I did 5 weeks very strict (no sugar, low carbs, no wine, no gluten). In the first week I lost 6 lbs and then no further loss for the following 4 weeks! I never strayed from my restrictions, ate a huge amount of non starchy veg so I didn't feel hungry but it was a big commitment and after a month of no loss I fell off the wagon.

Predictably, i have now put back on those 6 lbs and added another 3 for good measure!
I had an operation to repair my injury 3 weeks ago and now feel recovered enough to start back with my exercise which I feel may have been the missing ingredient from my last weight loss attempt (i hope so, cos otherwise wtf?!)
I have just worked out there are 13 weeks until the schools break up for summer holidays so that seems like a reasonable time frame with a specific end point. If I lost 1.5 lbs a week for 13 weeks that is almost a stone and a half which would bring me down to very nearly my comfort zone weight wise.
I am now committing to exercising for 20 mins everyday (at least on average) and going back to my low carb, low sugar WoE.
I have just got to do it!!!! If there's anybody who'd like to buddy up and join me here that would be great.

Hello Xotic and 123 - I have sort of stalled a bit. 10,13 this morning so still under 11, but not going down much, but still below starting weight of 11,8 1st April. Going to start again 1st June to try and do better (but aim to not be above 11st on 1st Jun). Well 123 you're beating me, I'd love to get to 9st 7 too I think though I will look quite thin then (although still about 24 BMI there I think). Treadmill is gathering dust at the mo, so is the yoga dvd! My next goals will be 10,8 by 1st July, and then 10stone by 1st Aug - but I'll settle for 10,7 by 1st Aug. It's a long slog, but I have to look at the long term (and get off my bum a bit more!) Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend everyone.

Morning , I'm really pleased , today I weighed in at 9 stone 1. That's 1 stone lost over the last 7 weeks .
It's bloody hard work this counting every morsel of food and my new trick going to bed earlier than usual to stop myself eating and drinking !,but it's starting to hopefully look like I'll be nearer to my goal before holiday .
Hope you are both enjoying the bank holiday .

Wow Xotic well done you, 1 stone over 7 weeks is brilliant. You have been stricter than me, and got more willpower. Won't be long before you're 8 stone something. OK I'm definitely going to start again strictly from 1st June.

Xoticdreamz · 29/05/2017 20:18

I dunno about the will power May . I've got zero on holidays !
I am pleased though and hopefully soon can start to wear everything in my wardrobe.

123andBreathe · 30/05/2017 06:32

May, you're still doing well, doesn't 10.13 sound so much better than 11.8!!

Xotic, you are doing brilliantly - will be interesting to see how much we put on when we go on our hols Smile

May50 · 30/05/2017 06:47

Thanks 123 that's very true, have to look positively, and also at the long term. When are you both off on holiday? (I'm planning on going away mid august so a little while yet)

123andBreathe · 31/05/2017 05:38

I'm going on the 6th July May, got my holiday clothes out yesterday and I will need to be buying new ones. I hate clothes shopping though, (always have even when slim). Will leave it until the week before I think.

10.8 today, one more pound and will have lost 1 1/2 stone Smile

May50 · 31/05/2017 08:28

Well done 123 - 1 1/2 stone, that's an achievement. I know what you mean about clothes shopping - I only do out of necessity.

May50 · 02/06/2017 09:53

Started again yesterday, 10,13.5 - just under the 11! Trying to stick strictly to the 12-8pm window, and do some sort of exercise daily. So yesterday my window was 1pm - 5.30pm just due to me going out in evening and I managed not to snack at 9pm when I got in, just a cup of tea. I also did 30 min walking on my treadmill yesterday, and this morning too.

Xoticdreamz · 03/06/2017 11:33

Morning .Im away on the 4 th July May , 123 you have done amazingly.
Today I stood on the scales and was 8 stone 13 . Not been anywhere near the 8 's for over a year . I'm really pleased . 6 more lbs to go .
Oh and I usually pile on at least half a stone on holiday . I was thinking of trying to have one good day / one bad day alternatively and see if that does damage limitation.

Xoticdreamz · 03/06/2017 11:34

Oh and glad you are back on the boat May

123andBreathe · 03/06/2017 13:08

May I'm sure if you just knuckle down for 3 or 4 days you will lose a couple of lbs, and it will spur you on. Good thing is you haven't put on.

Well done Xotic - I'm really pleased for you too!

I've been a bit lax re alcohol this last week, so have banned it from the house again! Just making lentil soup even though it's roasting today, and going to try and eat mainly vegetarian all week. If I haven't got anything quick to eat when I get hungry around 2 I have got into the habit of breaking off a piece of cheese or 2, so need to knock that on the head.

I lost another lb though, so 10.7.

May50 · 07/06/2017 22:54

Was 10,12 this morning so a bit come off. But I may stop my 12-8 window. I've had a really sore tummy, googled and I self diagnose gastritis. I'm taking anti-acids at the mo as I think my stomach is inflamed due to excess stomach acid. Feels red raw inside, but I don't think it's an actual ulcer. If it doesn't calm down in 2 weeks I'll see gp but to be honest I don't tend to like seeing doc if I can help it. I'm concerned that not eating until 12pm or later is giving me excess stomach acid do will go back to having breakfast - like porridge or eggs, not lots of buttery toast and marmite !

twoandahalftimesthree · 14/06/2017 23:21

Its great to finally check in here and see that so many of you have made amazing progress. Very inspiring.
I've sadly still not lost any weight, I have had my blood test and await the results but don't expect to discover much. But i have been reading about Bright Lines Eating, basically the theory is that some people are highly 'susceptible' relative to others and the higher the level of susceptibility the more likely you are to give in to temptation. I have a susceptibility level of 8/10 which explains a lot...
The solution apparently is extremely strict rules that you just never, ever break, sounds like sense to me, just implementing it is the challenge.
