13 weeks countdown til summer holidays begin, I want to wear shorts this year!!

For years I managed to maintain my weight but since I turned 40 and had a injury which prevented me doing my usual exercise the weight has slowly crept on. I was just over 11st on my 40th but two and a bit years later I am at least 12 st 8 (just come back from a week on holiday where I really overindulged, I will weigh in accurately tomorrow morning!) The last time I was this heavy I was pregnant!
Earlier this year I did 5 weeks very strict (no sugar, low carbs, no wine, no gluten). In the first week I lost 6 lbs and then no further loss for the following 4 weeks! I never strayed from my restrictions, ate a huge amount of non starchy veg so I didn't feel hungry but it was a big commitment and after a month of no loss I fell off the wagon.

Predictably, i have now put back on those 6 lbs and added another 3 for good measure!
I had an operation to repair my injury 3 weeks ago and now feel recovered enough to start back with my exercise which I feel may have been the missing ingredient from my last weight loss attempt (i hope so, cos otherwise wtf?!)
I have just worked out there are 13 weeks until the schools break up for summer holidays so that seems like a reasonable time frame with a specific end point. If I lost 1.5 lbs a week for 13 weeks that is almost a stone and a half which would bring me down to very nearly my comfort zone weight wise.
I am now committing to exercising for 20 mins everyday (at least on average) and going back to my low carb, low sugar WoE.
I have just got to do it!!!! If there's anybody who'd like to buddy up and join me here that would be great.

Can I join?
I have a 9.5mo, am 5"4 & was 11,3 before getting pregnant so already overweight then I put on almost 3 stone whilst pregnant!
I've managed to get to 11,12 but am really looking to get down to around 10.
If I could get down to 11 before my holiday at the beginning of August I'd be very pleased.
I'm using my fitness pal and aiming for around 1200 a day with a slightly more relaxed weekend but still keeping it under 2000.
I've also been doing Chris Powell work outs every morning at 6am before the baby gets up, on level 2 now and hoping to move to level 3 next week.
Do you guys have a weigh in day?

May50 · 18/05/2017 12:50

Welcome Kaytee - well done for getting down to 11,12 already. I put on 4.5 stone with my last (yikes) and still not lost it all! I'll hopefully be booking a holiday for August so want to be 10 stone then, around 11 stone now. Work outs every morning is really good. I need to up my exercise. No set weigh day, just as and when - though I try to weigh on a Sat morning. I also weigh 1st of each month.

Well done 123 and Xotic, I'm still a bit scared to weigh - will wait til Sat. But I think you're beating me 123 :-)

twoandahalf it's really frustrating up and down isn't it. When I go up that's when I crack and likely to cheat but I suppose we just have to keep on and it will come off eventually. I'm just not patient enough, need to look at the long term. Good luck for this week.

123andBreathe · 19/05/2017 18:24

How did you get on at the doctors two?

Hi * Kaytee, you've done really well already, it's really hard when they're still young. Lack of sleep always used to get me reaching for sugary stuff to keep me going.

May. Get on those scales Smile.

Focus on those holidays ladies!

Lost another 1 lb, so I'm looking at 9 to lose in around 7 weeks. Still feeling optimistic.

twoandahalftimesthree · 19/05/2017 23:43

Dr didn't seem particularly interested but said he would send me for a wide spectrum blood test. Told me that they don't find anything treatable for most people with those sorts of symptoms. I think he's probably going to be right as I'm not 'properly' ill but the tests might give me a clearer indication of results that might be on the edge of normal that I can focus on rectifying to prevent me becoming properly ill in the future.
Taking a long hard look at my lifestyle makes me realise it is stress that I have to tackle next as I have tried all the easy fixes. Ours is a household affected by ADHD and the chronic stress that is caused by it does take its toll physically, particularly on me as I am the non-ADHD one so act as chief emotional regulator for everyone else! It's exhausting. I haven't had an actual holiday in years, a 'holiday' for our family is merely a change of scene where we take all our baggage with us. We go to the same uk destination and accommodation every time- ds Struggles with even that! I would love to go away on my own (I did have 3 nights away by myself a couple of years ago and it was wonderful) but it's hard to find the time.
I certainly think that stress and adrenal fatigue could be playing a major part in this weight issue.

123 - sat am weigh in , I am 10st 12.5lbs this morning. Hoorah , under that 11st. Just got to keep going. Exercise has dropped off a bit. I really struggle with that motivation. Though about doing yoga DVD this morning but no, decided to have a nice bubble bath instead 😀
two - that's good you're having a blood test , may bring something up. And yes I certainly think that stress hormones are a big part. I am always stressed to the limit. That is known to hinder weight loss from something I read.

LiveLifeWithPassion · 20/05/2017 08:41

I dropped off a bit but started back again this week. I've got back into my running and have started to go back to 12-7 eating window.
I really need to cut my carbs. It's so hard to do.

123andBreathe · 20/05/2017 08:51

two I think you have hit the nail on the head re stress, question is how do you tackle it, when I'm guessing you don't really have a lot of 'me time'?

My DS was diagnosed with Aspergers at 9, so I can totally relate to how stressful having a child with SN can be. Looking back I basically totally neglected my own health/wellbeing from when he started school, until when he finished!

123andBreathe · 20/05/2017 09:05

Well done May. I may have gone out last night, and overindulged in a glass or 2 of wine, and a delicious espresso martini. As a result we now weigh the same!

Livelife - I was beginning to wonder if you had been running so much you had run away Grin

Xoticdreamz · 20/05/2017 09:22

Morning , 9/7 today . Up and down like a yo yo , my weight and cravings are shocking when I'm on my period .
I bought this "skinny coffee" stuff , arrived yesterday and just had me first cup .
I expect it's a load of rubbish but it's 6 weeks to go on holiday . I'm pleased I've lost half a stone but thought I would be nearing the 8 something by now .
Let's keep going though eh

kaytee87 · 22/05/2017 07:31

Morning all! I was a bit naughty at the weekend as had some drinks and a Chinese BlushI hardly ever drink though so was good to let my hair down. Haven't weighed myself this morning, will do a Friday weigh in I think.

Today's diary:

B: wholemeal toast & butter
L: ham roll
D: roast chicken & veggies
S: strawberries & melon

May50 · 22/05/2017 10:32

Morning - I had about a third of a box of After Eights last night - my son had bought them for my birthday a few weeks back , and I hadn't opened them - but he opened them a few days back and has been eating them. I held off but unfortunately decided to have 'just a couple' which then led to me finishing the box!!! This is why I cannot have in the house, I have no off switch. Oh well back on board today - nothing until 12pm and then I have hoummus with carrot sticks and 3 Ryvita and an apple for lunch - not sure about dinner yet. Have a good week everyone. I will not weigh again until Saturday I don't think. Oh, I also got up at 5.30am and did a yoga dvd for 30 mins before the kids got up :-) so feeling pretty virtuous.

kaytee87 · 23/05/2017 06:59

may can I ask why you don't have breakfast?

My day...

B: porridge, ss milk & honey
L: ham & cheese roll
D: sloppy joes in wholemeal wrap
S: melon / strawberries if needed
E: Chris Powell work out already done

imjessie · 23/05/2017 07:05

Hi .. I have been trying to lose weight for years and faffed about trying on my own and going to the gym etc . Well it didn't work .. I joined weight watchers last week and it's been so easy . They have an app where you log what you eat and stick to within a points amount . I'm not hungry and can eat what I like ( if I make the right choices) just thought I'd say as it seems to be working for me ! Good luck

May50 · 23/05/2017 07:22

Kaytee I am trying to do the intermittent fasting window only eating 12- 8pm. If I eat breakfast I tend to eat more, and snack in morning. It's a discipline thing I suppose. Saves my breakfast (and copious slices of toast) calories

Xoticdreamz · 23/05/2017 13:20

I love after eights may !
I'm back at 9/4 which I'm pleased with .

May50 · 23/05/2017 15:25

Xotic wow well done 9,4 . Would love to get down there. Not impossible but unlikely. Hope to reach 9st something though. 9st13.5 will do Smile

123andBreathe · 23/05/2017 18:52

After Eights are too damn moreish. I never take the wraps out, keep digging in - and then find there are only a couple left (and everyone know you can't just leave 2 Wink). Plus because they're minty don't feel unhealthy to my warped mind!

Well done Xotic, are you in the healthy BMI now?

kaytee give waiting until 12 a try, it's really worked for me.

Down to 10.10 yesterday.

Xoticdreamz · 23/05/2017 20:10

Oh I just looked 123 , just sneaked from overweight to healthy at BMI 23 !
Next challenge to be getting into the 8 stone something's
Well done on the weight loss .

May50 · 23/05/2017 23:06

Haha 123 that made me laugh - because After Eights are minty they're not unhealthy! I like your thinking. 10.10 well done , I will weigh Saturday , just want to keep under 11 stone now. Wow Xotic BMI 23, well done. I think you said you're petite build? When I reach BMI 25 I will start to look skinny. I think for me 9.5 stone will be limit otherwise I will be so gaunt.

Xoticdreamz · 28/05/2017 16:13

How is everyone getting on ?

123andBreathe · 28/05/2017 19:21

I'm still doing ok. How about you?

Down to 10.9, which I'm pleased about as I have upped my carbs a bit because taking strong painkillers ATM. Still eating in the 12-8 window though.

I hope everyone isn't giving up Sad

Xoticdreamz · 28/05/2017 20:37

I'm still going at it as well 123 . 9 stone 3 this morning after a bit of a lull .
That's great you are still loosing too . How many more lbs do you want to get rid off ?
I'm really hoping the others are still going as well .

Xoticdreamz · 28/05/2017 20:37

Hope you are feeling okay re strong painkillers

123andBreathe · 29/05/2017 07:21

You must be looking good now! Keep at it - you're nearly there, will definitely be under 9 for your holiday.

10.2 will scrape me into healthy BMI, have decided I want to get down to 9.7 instead of my initial target of 10.

Quite liking the heat at the moment, as I don't feel hungry as much, and find drinking water easier.
