13 weeks countdown til summer holidays begin, I want to wear shorts this year!!

twoandahalftimesthree · 16/04/2017 00:04

For years I managed to maintain my weight but since I turned 40 and had a injury which prevented me doing my usual exercise the weight has slowly crept on. I was just over 11st on my 40th but two and a bit years later I am at least 12 st 8 (just come back from a week on holiday where I really overindulged, I will weigh in accurately tomorrow morning!) The last time I was this heavy I was pregnant!
Earlier this year I did 5 weeks very strict (no sugar, low carbs, no wine, no gluten). In the first week I lost 6 lbs and then no further loss for the following 4 weeks! I never strayed from my restrictions, ate a huge amount of non starchy veg so I didn't feel hungry but it was a big commitment and after a month of no loss I fell off the wagon.

Predictably, i have now put back on those 6 lbs and added another 3 for good measure!
I had an operation to repair my injury 3 weeks ago and now feel recovered enough to start back with my exercise which I feel may have been the missing ingredient from my last weight loss attempt (i hope so, cos otherwise wtf?!)
I have just worked out there are 13 weeks until the schools break up for summer holidays so that seems like a reasonable time frame with a specific end point. If I lost 1.5 lbs a week for 13 weeks that is almost a stone and a half which would bring me down to very nearly my comfort zone weight wise.
I am now committing to exercising for 20 mins everyday (at least on average) and going back to my low carb, low sugar WoE.
I have just got to do it!!!! If there's anybody who'd like to buddy up and join me here that would be great.

cabin overlooked your loss there, that's brilliant!

two have you adjusted that for exercise? Every site I have looked at to work mine out says a different thing! Im taking mine as 1390, not adjusted, because walking calorie estimates are wildly different online.

Calorie counted yesterdays food and it was 855 cals doesn't sound much, but I was full enough, and think it was quite nutritious. Goats milk for my tea, kefir, lentil soup (added extra spinach to it), tin of tuna, egg, celery, radishes, cucumber, spring onions, beetroot, tomatoes, red pepper, watercress, coleslaw. I take a combined calcium magnesium and zinc pill, vit D3 and digestive enzymes.

That gives me a deficit of 535 cals x 7 days is 3745. Pound of fat is 3500, so it's easy to see how bloody difficult it is to lose, and also how easy to gain!

Xoticdreamz · 08/05/2017 21:40

Oh I'm having a bad night , much over my cal limit and still craving more crisps and toast 🙃
Tomorrow will hopefully be a better day

LiveLifeWithPassion · 09/05/2017 07:55

123 that seems like a really healthy and nourishing diet.

Xotic I was like that yesterday! I had a big chunk of baguette with cheese and piccalilli (so delicious!) and most of a family bag of posh crisps.
Anyway, I think I'm mostly recovered now so back to the healthy eating.
I'm going to wait til midday to eat and have a pitta bread with cheese and salad and a yoghurt. Fruit for snacks and dinner is salmon and lentils.

May50 · 09/05/2017 08:45

Must've been a bad Monday all round - last night I had a big bowl of ice cream and a packet of ready salted crisps (plus finished off the bottle of wine), and was just sat on the sofa watching tv when I could have been doing exercises. At least I stopped there, normally I can go into a full blown face stuff at that point - but I managed not to have anymore and went to bed. Starting afresh today - nothing yet, but just about to have a milky coffee, to last until 12noon.

Xoticdreamz · 09/05/2017 11:29

Must have been something in the air livelife and may !!
Back on it today , I'm back at 9/6 . Have a wedding on the 22nd and really want to have got a few pounds off . It will widen my choice hugely clothes wise for it and I'm trying to be sensible money wise for holiday .
Where and when are people going ( if you are)
I'm Croatia on 4 th July .

123andBreathe · 09/05/2017 11:56

I don't think it hurts to have something you are craving once in a while. Might even reboot losses fingers crossed.

I thought I was having a nice quiet day home alone, dog is doing a trial overnight in kennels, DD came home and said she had the day off, and an hour later DS said the same! I am taking them for lunch in a mo at Wagamamas. Have been good and looked at the menu, chosen beef salad already. Will just have to control myself and not pinch any of theirs.

My hairdresser goes to Croatia all the time Xotic, she loves it. We are off to Bermuda on the 6th July. 8 weeks to lose a stone, which I am now feeling more confident I can do.

May50 · 09/05/2017 12:32

Ooh Croatia and Bermuda in July sound nice. I haven't booked anything yet, but have 2 weeks off in August as school holidays so I need to look online and see if anything is available. Hopefully I can be under 10 stone by then (still won't be a skinny Minnie though as I'm only 5ft 1 but would feel happier than now!)

May50 · 11/05/2017 09:40

I've fallen off wagon slightly since Monday - this is my pattern - I start doing well, had an 8lb loss from 1st April and now wrecking it, I just can't keep consistently going (haven't weighed myself last couple of days as I don't want to know). I need to get back onto the 12pm-8pm window. I had 2 pears this morning, but now I'm ravenous! Not eating anything I found I could get to 12 without too much of a problem but today I'm watching the clock now - just having a coffee hoping to get through.

123andBreathe · 11/05/2017 09:59

Oh May Sad

You won't be the first that's for sure!

I got my DH to take a picture of me from behind when we were walking the dog this morning. I'm going to print several off and put them in strategic places round the house, hope it will keep spurring me on! My mindset at the moment is to grit my teeth and get it over and done as quickly as possible. Scales were 10st 13 this morning, so made me happier.

123andBreathe · 11/05/2017 10:04

Just a thought, maybe you should get back on the scales - it might not be as bad as you think. Could stop a potential downward spiral?

May50 · 11/05/2017 10:15

10st 13! That's great. Last time I weighed I was 11st - want to be under. I will maybe weigh tomorrow morning then - I want to get back on. Annoyed at myself - lack of willpower. Not sure I want a picture of my bum posted around my house! That made me laugh :-) how tall are you 123? I am 5ft 1 - are you similar - maybe I'll try and match with you as we're pretty much level pegging at the mo. Race you to 10st 7lbs!

twoandahalftimesthree · 11/05/2017 11:02

I've been tracking calories on mfp now for 6 days and it's actually quite satisfying. I've stayed at around 1400-1500 and even on my three meal sunday I stayed under BMR. I'm a little down to 12 st 4, still only 4 lbs off with 3.5 weeks serious effort but at least it's not going up again at the moment!
I've been looking into keto diet and thinking maybe I could give that a try, there's got to be something that works for me!
Just had half an hour with Physio on rehab which was fun and I've come straight to the gym and now done a further 30 mins on bike. Gonna do a bit more rehab now to make sure I remember all the exercises she's given me!

123andBreathe · 11/05/2017 12:49

You're on May I'm 5ft3. Half a stone doesn't sound as bad as a whole one, and when that's done, it's only another half a stone!

Well done two. Would you do a keto diet in combination with the eating window too?

twoandahalftimesthree · 11/05/2017 21:29

I was thinking I might try doing them both keto and intermittent fasting although that might be a bit extreme... I'm trying a sort-of-keto day today, not quite there cos I already had parsnips planned as main part of dinner which are quite high carb- it was a nice recipe though! Plus I'm trying to get to grips with the percentages and my fitness pal!
On the plus side, I managed 750 cals burned with exercise today, I was just enjoying myself at the gym so much that I didn't want to stop. That makes up for a few lazy days this week too.
I'm just off for a couple of boiled eggs and a kefir smoothie....

Weighed in this morning at 11st 5 lbs that's 7 lbs off woo hoo. Been a very long time since I was this low.

Not managed to complete 10000 steps on any days yet, really busy at work. Easily followed 16/8 usually 12 pm till 8 pm.

Good luck to everyone else and have a great weekend.

May50 · 12/05/2017 07:49

Well done cabin - 7lbs off is great. I've fallen off wagon but not too bad. Will try and get back on today . This morning weighed 11st 1.5lbs so ok. Want to get under that 11st mark. twoandahalf - that's really good on exercise. I need to up mind again , I really struggle to find the motivation on an evening . I'm going to look up keto. Had a brief look yesterday , seems a bit like the high protein + veg that I try to follow. I've been having ryvita on an evening as I miss the crunch of carbs!

Xoticdreamz · 12/05/2017 11:21

Hey , The last couple of days have been shocking food wise and like you may I am currently avoiding the scales .
I've done keto before twoanda halfit really worked but it drained me off energy and I just couldn't quite ignore the calories. I hated not being able to have milk in my coffee. You can buy keto sticks from chemists and I became quite obsessed with peeing on those sticks lol cabin and 123 well done on the losses .
I've just ordered some skinny coffee . God knows if it will help but I'll give it a go !
I'll brave the scales tomorrow.

123andBreathe · 13/05/2017 05:36

two. You win the prize for the most exercise Star. I saw an ad on tv last night that Dr Mike Moseley is serialising a healthy gut diet in the Mail next week. He's written a piece today, it mentions psoriasis in his checklist, and talks about the microbiome - you might want to have a look.

Well done cabin that's fantastic!

May, your gain wasn't that bad, hopefully you have caught yourself in time.

Xotic hope your weigh in goes ok today.

I stayed the same yesterday, have friends coming round for dinner, so will have a really long walk, and try and just have kefir then nothing until later so I can have a cheeky glass of wine. It will be interesting to see if they notice I have lost weight.

twoandahalftimesthree · 13/05/2017 08:07

Back down to 12st 2 this morning (which was my lowest weight two weeks ago) thank goodness. I did a proper keto day yesterday and found it very filling!
Just got to get through this weekend with the challenge of eating out a couple of times- wish me luck!
I'll check out Micheal Moseley on microbiome even if it does mean reading the daily fail!! Thanks for the tip off.

Fantastic two well done.

Xoticdreamz · 15/05/2017 10:41

That's great twoandahalf
Almost a month in everyone .
I am 9 stone 7 , I am though due my period tomorrow so feel a bit bloated .
From almost a month ago I've went from 9:13 so loss of 6 lb ish which I'm happy enough at although I was so pleased on that one day that I was 9:4 !
I have a wedding a week today so would be really pleased to shift some weight by then .
I'm trying hard to be on a spend as little as possible so there is no way I'm buying anything new to wear when I have so much that if I lost weight would fit .
Hope you are all having a good start to the week .

123andBreathe · 16/05/2017 06:32

I'm at that in between stage with clothes too xotic. I'm fed up because my boobs haven't shrunk, so most of my tops hang off them, and I don't think the top half of me looks much different from the weight loss.

Down to 10.12 yesterday, so that's 1 st 2 off.

Xoticdreamz · 16/05/2017 07:21

Wow 123 , absolutely brilliant ! Amazing loss

twoandahalftimesthree · 18/05/2017 00:48

Guess what everybody, up again to 12st 5...
I did eat out at the weekend but have fasted a lot too so it really shouldn't be that much up. They say 1lb = 3500 calories, there's absolutely no way that I have consumed 3 x 3500 + my bmr of c 2000.
I have been looking into hypothyroidism and I do have some of the other symptoms as well as not being able to lose weight; dizzy spells, cold feet, tired all the time, insomnia, headaches... I have a drs appt tomorrow. Biscuit
