Sounds like bliss, posie. We're in Warwickshire so about as far away from the beach as you can get!

AristonAndOn · 10/06/2017 13:36

I'm Northamptonshire so pretty far from the beach too!
Welcome Norman. Im losing 1 to 2lbs a week. It's the best diet I have ever done. It is helping me work through my issues with food and emotional eating. I have two young children and am breastfeeding one also. The diet has made things much simpler as I can enjoy the same meals as everyone else.
The support on here is fab too, good luck.

AristonAndOn · 10/06/2017 13:45

Oh and the first thing to do is fill your plate at each meal as if you are used to snacking you will get hungry. Over time you will learn how much food you actually need to sustain you. It's is an ongoing process, sometimes I don't eat enough and then the cravings really start. I've learned it is ok to be physically hungry. I enjoy my meals so much more and I'm less tired.

beela · 10/06/2017 13:50

Gosh yes, much less tired.... less of the sugar crashes because I actually put some thought into what will sustain me to the next meal (usually something with healthy fat).

twofloorsup · 10/06/2017 14:37

I found that as I only had 3 feeding opportunities a day I was much more thoughtful about what I was putting in my body (mostly) !
I'm currently very hungry but waiting for cheese scones to finish cooking.

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/06/2017 08:41

Two tis a lovely part of the country! We have been here for 19 years and we love it.
Now you all mention it I realise I am much better without the constant sugar highs and lows, I hadn't given it much thought but yes, there has definitely been an improvement.

I've lived all over the place but grew up in Hampshire and now have been settled for the last 7 years 45 minutes drive from where I grew up.
Can't see myself living anywhere else now Smile

normanpriceneedsanasbo · 11/06/2017 11:07

Alcohol... where does this fit into things? I am partial to a gin of an evening toco granulate myself for surviving the day with my 2 horrors.. is this ok or better saved for S days? (Sometimes I mix tonic with it Grin)

normanpriceneedsanasbo · 11/06/2017 11:07

Congratulate not granulate Hmm

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/06/2017 11:48

Norman the author of NoS Reinhard says one or two glasses of wine in the evenings is fine, so whatever the equivalent is in gin I guess is OK!

I've been looking on the 16:8 posts regarding intermittent fasting.
I don't think I could fit all my food into an 8 hour window (I know the idea is to skip breakfast altogether but that's not for me).
I'm going to try a 14 hour fast from 9pm til 11am. I will manage this by making breakfast a smoothie which I can drink whilst working.
Wish me luck Grin

beela · 11/06/2017 18:22

Good luck two! Let us know how you get on.

These last few days have been a bit all over the place for me, eating wise, for various reasons. Topped off with a night out last night for a friend's birthday and a hangover today which has totally blown my willpower!

Tomorrow is a new day though.

twofloorsup · 11/06/2017 18:39

I will Beela. Probably bore you all to death with it Grin
Don't worry that's what S days are for !

twofloorsup · 12/06/2017 08:03

Right day one and it's breakfast time.
Just not for me !
I feel all cranky and out of sorts because I'm sat in the staff room with just a cup of red bush tea.
But I'm telling myself that my smoothie is in the fridge and I can have it any time. I'm trying to hold off til 11:00.
This is the feeling I used to get before a binge and recognising it and dealing with it is quite interesting.

bowbear · 12/06/2017 18:52

Hi All, hope you've enjoyed the weekend, I'm very envious of your beach adventures, I'm in Hampshire too but at the other end.
I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with your new plan two, I do eat breakfast even tho I'm not always that hungry, but then find I'm starving about 10.30. Maybe a smaller window of feeding my face would be a good idea :)
I've gone a bit awry this week, I think my holiday has put me out of kilter also, I think I've got a bit complacent. I'm feeling really good about having lost a reasonable amount of weight and getting a bit blase thinking I've got a handle on it. It's so easy to slide back to old habits and I'm already noticing that I'm just not being quite so disciplined. Need a firm word with myself before I undo all this hard work.
I feel you pain re a hangover Beela - alcohol is my nemesis when it comes to food, I delude myself that it doesn't really count. Generally most week days I resist temptation so hopefully I won't sabotage too much :)

beela · 12/06/2017 19:21

bowbear I think it was my first hangover in about 2 years! But I often have just one glass of wine in the evening. I know it is technically allowed, but there are lots of calories in wine that aren't in a cup of tea or a glass of water Wine

I've been mostly ok today but annoyed myself by picking at the dc's tea when dishing up earlier. I need to get back to super strict no-s days.

twofloorsup · 12/06/2017 19:36

Bow complacent is the word I've been searching for lately !

I had a massive (800ml) smoothie at 11:00 , finished work late and still managed the gym with no banana.

By the time I got home I was just ready for a decent lunch.

Just need to have dinner and last cuppa by 9:00 but don't want to eat unless I'm hungry.

I think this might be what works for me and the red bush tea made a nice change.

bowbear · 12/06/2017 20:04

You're absolutely right Beela, and I have to say these days it doesn't seem to take much for me to feel lousy the next day!

The first month or so of doing this I was so strict and didn't touch anything at all between meals. I'm finding I'm just having a little 'taste' of things here and there and I know I'm losing focus. If my DS doesn't finish his food it doesn't mean I have to do it for him!!

This week I shall not be complacent!!

AristonAndOn · 12/06/2017 20:27

Hello all, we all have been doing this for a while and it's interesting that we are still experimenting with different ideas. The best thing is it's flexible enough of a diet to try different things to see what works.
Now for my confession, I have had a monumentally bad day. Urgh. I know I've said before, but I suffer from binge eating and today I had an urge that I couldn't seem to stop and it's snowballed and now I have a bad tummy ache! Self Inflicted. Does anyone have any experience with techniques to stop a binge in it's tracks please? Thanks x

twofloorsup · 12/06/2017 20:41

Ariston the only way I could ever stop was to scrub my teeth and use a viscous mouthwash.

Usually by the time I got to that stage I was already feeling sick and dastardly and probably would have stopped anyway.

My only other stop mechanism was to go to bed. I'm going early tonight as I've had cereal and toast for tea and am feeling very unsatisfied.

AristonAndOn · 12/06/2017 21:11

I'll try the teeth brushing. I wanted to go bed but had a toddler and I'll child at home. I can not be trusted when I have to stay in all day!!

twofloorsup · 12/06/2017 21:18

It's obviously one of your triggers.
Mine used to be getting annoyed or upset. Now I tend to not be able to eat in those situations.
I'm coming up to 6 months doing this now and I'm still trying to get it right and quite often feel like its slipping away from me.

PosiePootlePerkins · 12/06/2017 22:44

I think the most important message from all of your recent posts is that you are all still giving this your best shot. Even when the going gets tough, I sense a real determination from you all to keep on keeping on. That is what will bring results in the long run. It may take a while but those demons will be defeated!

OP posts:
twofloorsup · 12/06/2017 22:51

Oh yes I'm determined alright Smile
Every week feels like it brings a new challenge but I'm loving the change from how I ate just 6 months ago.

AristonAndOn · 13/06/2017 06:16

Thanks Two and Posie. Being at home is harder to ignore my urge to emotionally eat. I am under a lot of stress and keeping busy distracts me from the stress and keeps me in a routine with my eating. Feel pretty crap this morning. Posie is right though, I'm determined not to let this go, I'm mainly winning. I'm pleased I can be honest here and face the challenges that the future brings. I'm going to have to find a coping strategy with summer hols. Then there are holidays, Christmas etc!
Time to be strict....and implement our extra S, no standing. Yesterday was a lot of standing in kitchen snacking.
