That's why I bought the ninja.
No lumps Smile

AristonAndOn · 05/06/2017 10:17

Is the ninja better than the nutribullet?

bowbear · 05/06/2017 12:45

Hello everybody, I'm just back from holidays too and today is proving very challenging, I'm sooo hungry!! I didn't get too carried away last week, mainly due to a bit of a tummy upset in the first couple of days - every cloud :). You're spot on Posie about how easy it is to just slip into old habits.
I need a really good, focussed week to get back in the swing of it now. You're braver than me with a kale smoothie Two! I hope you're feeling more in control now Ariston, it really does take commitment to create these new habits doesn't it. Well done on your loss Beela, everyone's updates really do help to keep me on track. Here's to a good week :)

PosiePootlePerkins · 05/06/2017 13:42

Hi bowbear sounds as if we both need to stay focussed this week! I have made a good start and am ignoring my body's demand for sugar! Had an avacado and cream cheese roll for lunch with fruit and a yoghurt, and am reminding myself that is plenty for lunch! Actually it does feel better to be back on it.

I've not used the bullet but it's definitely better than my £20 blender Smile
I'm getting a bit slack so will be aiming for a good week.

beela · 06/06/2017 12:24

Welcome back, bowbear and posie Smile

I had an S day yesterday as it was dh's birthday. Trying to resist the leftover cake today.

I'm definitely getting smaller though - I had to run back home for something just after we'd set off for school this morning and my jeans fell down! Blush not all the way down but far enough for me to be glad I was wearing a coat that covered my bottom!!!! BlushBlush

AristonAndOn · 06/06/2017 13:16

Happy Birthday to your DH. 😂 Pleased about your trousers falling down! 😂

twofloorsup · 06/06/2017 14:45

twofloorsup · 06/06/2017 21:51

Welcome decisions. Sorry no experience of thyroid problems but this place is great for support.

PosiePootlePerkins · 06/06/2017 22:23

Beela it is a sign that you need to go shopping and treat yourself to some smaller trousers!Grin Fantastic result, its great when clothes start to feel loose.
Decisions welcome. It may be worth asking your question on the official NoS forum as there are loads of people who post and may have experience of your thyroid issues. Good luck.

Just checking in. Had a hiccup yesterday but not beating myself up about it. I under ate all day then ending up snacking as my blood sugar had dipped. I smacked on fruit and felt it was necessary as was feeling faint! How is everyone doing?

twofloorsup · 08/06/2017 23:26

Hi Ariston. I'm struggling if I'm honest. I was having my smoothie for lunch but just been so hungry this week that I think it's not enough. I had dinner a couple of hours ago and am going to bed hungry Confused
Not sure what's changed but I'm not feeling good about it. I haven't cheated though Smile

Zazu44 · 08/06/2017 23:36

Hi sorry if this has already been raised but can you have artificial sweeteners or are they just of bad?

AristonAndOn · 09/06/2017 05:42

Hello Zazu. Yes you can have sweeteners. 👍🏼
Hi Two, perhaps a smoothie isn't enough calories and everyday the deficit gets harder for your body. I have tried reducing my lunches, or having no carbs for one meal which is ok for a day or two, then my body can't cope, hence the feeling faint. It's silly of me to do that though as I am losing, I'm just being impatient. Could you have a smoothie every other day? Or have it for breakfast and something more substantial for lunch?

twofloorsup · 09/06/2017 06:20

Yes I think it's taking a toll on me. I've only been having it on gym days but it's clearly not working so will have a rethink. Not sure it would last me long enough as a breakfast.
I've been having the biggest fattest bowl of cereal for lunch topped with dried fruit and nuts so I think my body is crying out for calories.

AristonAndOn · 09/06/2017 13:17

Perhaps smoothies on non gym days? I know they can be made calorific, but not sure they would make me feel full enough.

twofloorsup · 09/06/2017 13:59

Yes I had thought that but the only reason I was having them was to fit my food round the gym. So I would have a banana , go to the gym and then come home for a smoothie.
If I came home and had a proper lunch I wouldn't be hungry for dinner til 10pm. Agh it's all such a ball ache whichever way I look at it Grin

twofloorsup · 09/06/2017 15:31

I've had a word with myself.
Does it matter if I have smoothie and a slice of toast ? No of course it doesn't !
Two you are a plank Grin
Currently snaffling a smoothie and some Brazil nuts. I like to live dangerously Wink

PosiePootlePerkins · 09/06/2017 16:01

Two awesome that you've managed to work out what is best for you. I pretty much always have carbs, and full plates, because I know that being hungry is what has made me fail in the past. I feel deprived, then think sod it I am just going to eat what I like, and end up bingeing. I am fully prepared to have a very slow weight loss because of this, but for me it is worth it to stay in control.
Sorry didn't mean to make that all about me, but I do think you are right to make sure hunger doesn't get on top of you.
Have a good weekend everyone Smile

twofloorsup · 09/06/2017 18:20

Thanks Posie I think it's such a long journey and we have to tweak it to make it work otherwise we will fail.
I'm still loving the challenge and think that maybe trying to find a formula that works is a bit pointless, and to take each day as it comes.
I'm actually so stuffed from the extra large smoothie that I don't think I'll be able to eat again this weekend Grin

normanpriceneedsanasbo · 10/06/2017 09:00

Hi everyone 👋

I have stumbled across this thread and am thinking that the No S Diet could be for me. I wondered if you could answer a couple of questions for me?

  1. Do I need to buy the book or is it really as simple as those basic principles? Or is there a good website I can look at?
  1. What would you say has been your average weight loss since doing it?
  1. Are there any stumbling blocks I need to be aware of before starting it?

I have at least 2 stone to lose. I have two very young kids (one of which I am breastfeeding) so need something easy going and that takes minimal effort on my part! Thanks in advance for your replies

beela · 10/06/2017 10:42

Hi Norman. You don't need to buy the book, it really is very simple. There is a website that goes into a bit more detail. It comes up if you Google it, I think it's something like nosdiet.com.

I've been doing this since mid January and am averaging 1lb per week.

In terms of stumbling blocks.... I think you just have to be aware that it takes time. You won't get immediate dramatic weight loss and the habits take a while to form. But on the plus side it is very sustainable, fits with family eating (no special foods needed, nothing banned), and it promotes a good healthy relationship with food.

So there is my sales pitch! Great support on this thread too.

PosiePootlePerkins · 10/06/2017 12:10

Hi norman and welcome to NoS.
Er, basically everything beela saidGrin
And yes lots of support here, any questions just ask.
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine - well its sunny here in Hampshire - we're off to the beach in the campervan later, going to cook some burgers for tea and eat them on the beach. Classy, me.
Have a great weekendSmile
