Hi everyone just checking in. Hope everyone is doing well. I am very pleased because a) I am finally under 12 stone (by half a pound but hey it still counts rightGrin) and b) I bought some size 12 jeans today, OK they are M&S size 12 and only just fit but I'm still counting it as a victory! I was 13 stone 8 last August and completely miserable and didn't know what to do to fix things. This has been slow weight loss for me but I have never felt so calm around food, ever!
My DH is finally home after several weeks away so we are enjoying some family meals together, so nice to all sit round the table and enjoy the same food. I have not been tempted by the desserts the others have been having, although I have had a glass of wine with dinner which I enjoy.
Hope you're all having a good week.

Posie, you sound so contented in a way, it's wonderful to make these lovely achievements with weight and size, but even more lovely to have managed it in a way that is relaxed where you are kind to yourself.
Well done, you are a wonderful support and it's so nice to hear your positive story.
Enjoy your wine and your husband 🍾

PosiePootlePerkins · 16/05/2017 19:42

Ah thank you Ariston Flowers** You have really summed up how I feel right now, NoS has helped me in so many ways, you are so right about me being kind to myself, I have always been very hard on myself regarding my weight and body image. I am finally learning that its OK to be me. Who knew that so many benefits would come from one simple diet.Smile

twofloorsup · 16/05/2017 19:49

Well done Posie that's brilliant Smile

PosiePootlePerkins · 16/05/2017 21:39

I'm having a go at splitting my lunch into two parts so I can crack this getting to the gym lark.
I might actually plate the whole thing so I don't end up with 4 meals a day though !
Have a good day all.

beela · 17/05/2017 07:42

That sounds a good idea two.

Posie what a great post. Really made me smile Smile

twofloorsup · 17/05/2017 08:20

In theory Beela Smile

twofloorsup · 17/05/2017 18:01

I actually managed the gym Grin
Despite it raining (I hate the rain).
A banana seems to be enough, just means I can't have it on my breakfast.
Feeling very chuffed with myself today. How are you all doing ?

PosiePootlePerkins · 17/05/2017 20:03

Thanks beelaSmile**
Two well done! Impressed with your determination. Especially in the rain, I have been craving a cup of tea and cake today, didn't have it but the weather makes me want to curl up and indulge!

OP posts:
AristonAndOn · 17/05/2017 20:29

Yes the rain and dullness has made my food cravings increase today. Managed to avoid it, just!
Good work going to the gym and hopefully the splitting of food will help. I strangely love the rain ☔️

twofloorsup · 17/05/2017 21:55

Yes very strange Ariston Grin
Well done Posie on ignoring cake !
I have been craving curry since I moved so today made myself a veggie one with raita and potato wedges. Certainly warmed me through.
I feel a bit like I've broken through a barrier today. Music helped. A lot Smile

beela · 17/05/2017 22:10

I felt the same in the rain today! It was definitely a tea and cake sort of day.

I spent most of a meeting thinking about cake in fact. But when I got out of the meeting there was a packet of biscuits in the office and I can genuinely say that I wasn't tempted. Perhaps it was just a very boring meeting Wink

twofloorsup · 17/05/2017 22:25

Nice one Beela Smile
It always amazes me how easily food has lost its pull for me now. I just need it to survive Smile

AristonAndOn · 18/05/2017 10:12

Just was asked if I was expecting...sob. I've been losing weight arghhh, never mind, yes my tummy does stick out, hopefully it will get smaller eventually!

twofloorsup · 18/05/2017 17:59

How rude !! Shock

bowbear · 18/05/2017 19:48

Oh Ariston how rude! I remember being asked that once and was so upset. Don't let it knock your confidence or progress, you're doing great :) Well done everyone for resisting the cake, it does seem so much harder on a grey, damp day.

I had a jubilant moment on the scales this morning, I'm now merely overweight and by a whisker, no longer in the obese section of the BMI scale. It's been a long time since I was here, and there's still a long way to go but it feels good :)

AristonAndOn · 18/05/2017 20:35

Thanks all, I've been asked loads before, but not for a while. I've not let it affect me this time.
Oh bow bear, a good thing to celebrate! Well done 💐 I fancy seeing where I am in that way. Will be a good goal instead of just looking at the many stones I wish to shed.

AristonAndOn · 18/05/2017 20:56

Thanks to bow bear, I've just calculated my goals. My next goal is a 15lb loss to become overweight. That's a bit mentally easier than the 4 stones I was aiming for. The amazing bit is even though I'm obese at 31.9, in January I was 40.8!

MarysPlace · 18/05/2017 21:15

Hi all,
Have seen the No S threads quite a lot and recently read my way through them. Just wanted to say this seems to make an awful lot of sense. I think the no snacking bit is key. It's so easy to think oh I'll just have a 100 calorie snack. Then you can't quite decide which 100 calorie snack to have - kit kat, biscuits, banana, olives, nuts - and before you know it you've eaten all of them. Trying to disengage from food except at mealtimes is key I think. Which is especially hard if you're at home and in/near the kitchen a lot.

Anyway, haven't bought the book yet but started no snacks, sugar etc a few days ago. Was looking for something that isn't a diet, doesn't need special food, can be used for life.

Also, just read the book 'How to have your cake and your skinny jeans too' (recommended on another thread) and there's quite a bit of overlap here. She writes about taking up the eating habits of people who don't appear to put on weight, and I'm thinking that No S would be pretty close to that, with the exception that she talks about only eating when you're hungry, and one of you on this thread mentioned that that is not very practical in the modern world. I guess no S means that you are hungry when you eat though.

Need to lose at least a stone, preferably more. I notice on the NHS website that the weigh range for my height (5' 2 ish) spans over 2 stones - I am at least looking to get down to the top of that!

PosiePootlePerkins · 18/05/2017 22:27

Hi MarysPlace welcome to NoS! I hope it suits you. You are right when you say this is a way of eating that is for life. It is actually all about forming good relationships with food and learning moderation. I will say what I always say in the early days, the best advice I can give is to focus on forming good habits. Just stick to NoS as closely as possible and don't worry too much about weight loss in the early days. I have been following this since October and can say with confidence that I have finally ended years of yoyo dieting and have found a way of eating I can follow forever.
Good luck, any questions just ask!
Ariston sorry you had to face that rude question Flowers Do people not even think before they speak? You are doing so well. 15lb really does sound like a manageable amount to lose, that seems like a really good idea (off to calculate my bmi!Grin)
Bowbear fantastic achievement to say farewell to obese! Well done you. Great things will follow!
Two that curry sounds yummy! I love curry.
We went out to the pub for dinner this evening, I had fish and chips, was a bit worried because it looked enormous and was on this long rectangle plate which threw me a bit! I left the batter and gave some chips to DS (who is a ravenous teenager and devours whatever you give him) so I reckon what I actually ate would have fitted on a normal plate. I really enjoyed it and was nice not to cook.
Nearly the weekend everyone! Have a good Friday. Smile

Beela sorry just scrolled back and read your post about the biscuits! FantasticSmile It is a very nice feeling to be able to look at food and think 'nah, not really bothered' especially when it is food you've previously craved.

OP posts:
AristonAndOn · 18/05/2017 22:48

Mmm, fish and chips, yum 😀👍🏼

PosiePootlePerkins · 19/05/2017 07:02

Ariston it was!Smile

Well done bowbear that's fab Smile
Welcome Marys.
Posie it was lovely and better the second day but I think I need to freeze the rest so as not to get bored of it. My kids eat different to me so I batch cook for myself but end up eating the same thing for days on end. I can't cook small Grin
Ariston some people have no class. Ignore Smile
