Well done cant! That's great news, have you many more exams to do or have you a break in between? I think you've done admirably well on keeping to those cals, pat on the back
It's on Netflix sesame, but also on YouTube I think? I'm halfway through watching the 2nd one. Good news that a portion's a palm full, that means I got closer to 7 than 6 yesterday, yah! Awake stupid early again (woke at 4.20am) but I have to leave in an hour anyway so no biggie.
Scales working its way down from my frightening Monday weigh in, back to 11.5.8 - here's hoping I can make a positive dint in it with my increased veg/fruit/no choc or crisps. Happy Friday y'all

Thought for today

Love the thought for today Not, ties in with trying to up our F&V intake doesn't it?

Good to see the scales going down and your positive attitude too.

Waves to Can't, I couldn't stay that low, so kudos to you.

I'm just about to have porridge and bugger off for a run before the chores start. I was a full on taxi service yesterday and was shattered by 11pm, but feel brighter today.

Needastrongone · 03/03/2017 07:57

Question for the day or mindless nosiness, do you all take supplements? I take extra iron and a multi vitamin, the former as running depletes iron stores and the latter for back up which I probably don't need.

No hidden meaning to my question, just interested.Smile

Not2bObvious · 03/03/2017 08:40

Nope, no vitamins. I did a course of iron a while ago at the doctors advice but finished that and nothing. Only pregnancy vitamins

OP posts:
SesameSparkle · 03/03/2017 09:27

not thanks, will have a look on YouTube love a bit of dietspiration.

need when I was still ttc, I used to be the supplement queen. These days I just take a multi vitamin - to cover off iron as I've had a deficiency in the past, high dose vitamin D - on account of living in the northern hemisphere, and the odd omega 3 when I remember, as I don't get it from my diet.

Not2bObvious · 03/03/2017 13:46

Oh my, 2 bad nights sleep are really catching up on me - trying not to doze off on the couch, have to collect the kids around 2. Raging, was making veg soup & at the last minute decided to throw in French beans, ruined the soup😩 I struggled to eat it (2 portions veg) and I'm doubtful the kids will like it. I won't say it's muck but it'll only take them a spoon to recognise it. Cooked a lovely chicken tikka masala (3 portion of veg) for later. Not sure if wines on the menu later, I may have to babysit for a couple of hours for a friend and by the time I get home it would be better to leave it. Sorry guys, blah blah blah, trying to stay awake!

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/03/2017 15:58

Thanks re the supplements, I was just wondering what folk did really. Smile

No worries Not, I like a ramble too. Sorry about the soup.

Did a lovely 7.5 mile run. Very easy paced. Base building doesn't tire me at all but the weight drops off as you are teaching the body to use fat as an energy source, it's far more efficient than glycogen. I will have to be careful this week not to drop too much.

B - porridge with mango and blueberries.
S post run - banana. Innocent smoothie.
L - avo on toast with linseed, big bowl of berries and yogurt.
D - posrk stir fry.
S - Cereal bar, wine.

Think that's 12 portions of F&V today. Takes some planning but all good.

Doing a lot of base miles this weekend in the trail and mud. Bring it on!

Not2bObvious · 03/03/2017 16:18

Well I'll do damned, the pair of them wolfed down 2 huge bowls with nary a complaint! Go figure, I was watching them out of the corner of my eye, smaller one was faffing a bit but it turned out it was just a bit too hot!
Have to go babysitting, fecking wrecked, aches from yesterday setting in. Defo going to be a 1 glass of wine at most early to bed night. I'm at 7 portions so far need, and rather too many honey roast peanuts😳

OP posts:
SesameSparkle · 03/03/2017 16:40

I'm on about 6 fruit and veg so far unless I can count biscuits in which case I'd be on 12..... Hmm

DawheadAwgusEeentock · 03/03/2017 19:21

Thanks everyone again - sorry for the mini-moan yesterday.

Not yay for the scales going down Star and I bet the new plan will really get it moving down even faster. That was a lovely surprise about the soup! Well deserved Wine tonight by the sounds of it - and well done on so much F&V!

smd take it from me Wink 1lb a week is great - well done Star!

Need I don't take any supplements at all. Some Winters I've taken Vit C, but it didn't even occur to me this time. I've been doing well at not getting colds though lately. 12 portions of F&V is amazing Shock and brilliant.

Cant congrats on passing the exam!

Sesame that's a v helpful tip on the veg portions - and that sounds like a good plan in terms of evening meals. I would agree to categorise biccies as F&V Wink.

Session went well last night - it's hard to sum it up, but things just ~feel~ like they're getting slowly better. We're both opening up and to be fair we're both trying at the same rate in our own different ways, which is very positive. Still a long road though.

So to celebrate, we went for nice food Hmm. I had a very naughty chicken fillet burger (with black pudding - only in Ireland eh) and sweet potato chips. So yesterday came to 1770 Hmm.

Coincidentally we're trying a veg dinner tonight - mushroom & spinach pasta, so today is on plan for 1352. But my weekly average is already at 1500. My only hope is that it will be much easier to be restrained next week with H away.

Again, because you've all inspired me, I bought some almond milk today. I never realised it has less cals than skimmed milk! I'm going to try it on top of my porridge tomorrow to see if it can bring a little sweetness (in the absence of my Splenda). I shall report back Wink. Meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow, but our meeting cafe usually does lovely soup so hope that will save me a few cals too.

If I'm not on again, have a lovely weekend everyone!

SesameSparkle · 03/03/2017 21:31

Glad you are feeling like things are going in the right direction daw. Flowers I also tried almond milk cos of the thread. I bought the unsweetened type, cos I'm meant to be low sugar except biscuits of course but didn't like the taste - it doesn't add any flavour like milk does and as I don't sweeten my porridge it ended up tasting of nothing. I had more success with the coconut milk, which was ok but a bit of an acquired taste. I've settled on part milk part water for now.

not you might like to read up on vitamin D as running/low body weight is a risk factor for osteoporosis. Although, on the other hand, if you're outside with skin uncovered doing all those miles your body should have a chance to make its own..... Confused

SesameSparkle · 03/03/2017 21:33

Oops, of course I meant need..... Wink

Not2bObvious · 03/03/2017 21:38

The minute I read low body weight I knew it wasn't a message for me sesame😆
Exhausted, proper knackered. Ate loads of bits this evening as babysitting, had a v small bit of my curry when I got home. Having 1 x 🍷and then to my bed. Have a class at 8am tomorrow if my back is ok (v achy all day)

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 03/03/2017 23:36

Thanks Sesame. Interestingly, I had a few MRI's when I was injured. No wear and tear on the body, despite all the running, aside from leaky disc. I also had a specific bone density scan last year (due to Mirena), all bone density results were normal. Obviously I agree, I'm very light, haven't bled for years (Mirena, hence the scan..) so the scan results were a relief to be really honest.... the same thing had crossed my mind too Smile

SesameSparkle · 04/03/2017 09:46

That all sounds very reassuring need. Smile

Not2bObvious · 04/03/2017 12:49

Afternoon all. Had typed a post earlier but deleted it as it was v moany. I'm not sure this'll be much better lol! Got to my class this am, didn't do fantastic as was extremely low on energy but it's done now. I think I've certainly hit 5 of my 10 F&V so far and I've plans for another 3 with dinner. Scales up after my cracker & haribo jelly & peanut'fest of yesterday but meh, it's expected, my body never forgives/never forgets.
Anyway....dawg, v glad to hear your session went well - nice to share a meal after too. Hmm almond milk - I like it in a shake with PB and cocoa powder but not gone on it aside from that. But sure see how you go. I've gotten down to half a spoon of sugar over my porridge, it's only 8 cals & I make it with water/semi skimmed milk kinda 60/40 with a tiny splash of milk to cool it down. I don't drink enough milk to have any gain going to skim. It certainly wasn't the milk that made me have fat (I'm going with positive thoughts, I have fat, I am not "fat")
Bringing my bigger girl shopping this afternoon. Be another few steps in the activity bank so that's good. Have a great Saturday y'all

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 04/03/2017 13:15

Daw I am really glad the sessions are helping. It's a brave thing for you both to do.

Got a super 12.5 off road miles in the bank, it was hilly and extremely muddy given the rain but I loved it, great fun. Such a nice day for a run in amazing countryside. Very steady pace as I am base building and teaching the body to burn fat as energy. Which it does, very well as I have dropped weight-wise this week. Will keep an eye out.

Anyway-
B - Porridge and blueberries.
L - Ham salad bagel, massive bowl of berries, mango and yoghurt.
D - either a takeaway or a meal out.
S - banana, 3 energy gels, wine. Probably a cereal bar and extra fruit/veg.

Done 45 miles this week! Go me. Smile

Needastrongone · 04/03/2017 13:16

With Sunday to go, so over 50 miles. Long long time since I have run that kind of volume, used to do it every week!

smd5018 · 04/03/2017 16:08

wow impressive running Need I am trying, but mainly failing, to hit a target of walking around 20 miles a week at the moment but planning to start running soon, just hope my knees can handle it......
Thanks Sesame I'm definitely getting lots of variety but probably not 10 portions per day, it's something to aim for though.

Just had a Creme Caramel from M&S for my lunch because husband annoyed me. I wish I didn't wrap food up with my moods/emotions so much!

Not2bObvious · 04/03/2017 22:24

I'm in awe need, it's a bit hard not to feel like a lazy lump when you describe your fitness regime. Is your Dh into running & fitness too? Mine thinks I do wayyy too much (slim and healthy looking...bastard) and I actually don't know anyone in my immediate circle who exercises even to my level. Which I only consider ok, not spectacular, and I'm not being coy. Nothing amazing about 3 sessions a week.
I dunno, seems like my world is split into people who do nothing apart from the odd walk and me...and I'm the flabby one🤔

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 05/03/2017 07:54

Don't feel like a lazy lump Not. I hope I don't make you feel like that. I'm sorry if I do. Running is just my thing, that's all. I'm probably a touch zealous as it was taken away from me for such a long time. Grin

DH is a whirligig of energy but works a lot of hours as runs his own company. He trains with the PT though and disappears for hours at the weekend with the dogs.

Most of my friends are pretty active tbh, a lot do a lot more than me!

Ref your very last comment, and I know we have different circumstances, but you often refer to diet being more important than exercise (I am different probably, but weird too ha ha!!!) but I am also certain it's not true. Smile

Just to show what a pile of shite the scales are, I am UP 4lbs from yesterday! I know it's not better hydration as I had 2 glasses of wine and a salty chinese ('twas scrummy though) last night. I'm no fitter or less fit than I was yesterday. It's a number 'tis all.

Off for a run now before the day cracks on.

I've made carrot and orange soup for lunches today. Looks like a lovely day here too.

Not2bObvious · 05/03/2017 12:35

Not at all need, it's encouraging to see such enthusiasm. Most of my friends are working full time with young'ish kids, I'm probably the one with the oldest at 12, and of course I'm only working 30 hours a week. So I'm better placed to have time to exercise. I've done 2.5 hours over the week so that definitely isn't going to change my weight, anyway as I've said many times exercise right now is for my mind - I'm hoping increasing the F&V will help over the next 5-6 weeks. Build the habit and then stick to it. Veg curry for lunch, making homemade naan with it, can't wait

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 05/03/2017 13:55

2.5 is not to be sniffed at though!

Yep, it's hard to train with young DC. Ironically, I started running as it was the only exercise I could realistically do with DH working such long hours, I couldn't commit to a set class. But, I discovered I was actually very good at it, and got bitten by the bug.

I have worked all sorts of hours over the years and fitting the training in was hard, especially marathon training, lots of very early starts to run at 5am or running later in the evening. Plus obviously wanting to spend as much time as I could with the family. Having a good head torch and the steely will to do it was key Grin

Anyway food.
B - bircher muesli, banana and mango.
L - carrot and orange soup, crusty roll. Big bowl of berries and yoghurt.
D - chicken and chorizo in SC, lot of veggies.
S - half an avo, wine.

Tons of F&V, way over 10, but there will be days when I am under, so it will work out.

Veggie curry sounds lovely.

Not2bObvious · 06/03/2017 07:05

Very quiet here over the weekend - off having a life people😉 My scales is an absolute b*stard, I'm still up despite what was frankly an amazingly well behaved weekend. My bad few days of behaviour a week ago has caught up with me and it clearly wasn't just bloat. Will not lose hope.
Awake since 4am so another bad start, stomach quite grumbley from all the extra fruit & veg. I was completely meat free yesterday, that's a rare thing for me.
So anyone have any news?
