I'm starting tomorrow. And if a blimp like me can get further than day one, anyone can! 😂

I'm a pretty good walker. I can walk for miles. But I never tried running before

I'll be following a route I know, as running with a white cane may be a bit, um, hard...I want to run, not pole vault!

Anyone out there just started? About to start? Or just want to ask me whether I'm on glue for even attempting this?

Lurking hi! We can do this! If we manage a two minute walk before we drop dead of exhaustion have to throw in the towel, we've at least done SOMETHING.

I'm determined to last the 20 minutes. If I flake out on the jogging bit, I won't stop...I'll walk it! I'm always worried about sounding bossy, but should we make that a sort of rule? We stick it out for 20 mins even if we have to walk/crawl all the way? First week goal?

And if anyone would like to add me on mfp, I'm DeathlyHallows2

Skincarwjunkie you go, girl!

I've got a funny wqy of writing, can I just warn everyone? It tends not to matter if I'm just commenting on a post...but if I've started one, it may grate a little. Can I just apologize in advance and carry on regardless? 😂

Yes, stick it out. I like brisk walking (but unfortunately our old dog can only plod these days Sad) so even if I can't manage all the jogging I'll power walk instead.

MargotLovedTom1 · 12/02/2017 15:51

Stick out the 20 minutes I meant! Wink

weechops · 12/02/2017 15:58

I'm in!! I did my first jog (ever!) on Thursday morning. Braved the school run in my leggings and a pony tail Grin I felt like I was going to die the first few runs, but I stuck it out.
I'm 7 weeks post partum after baby number 4. They've destroyed my body! Well them and my crap diet. And my shocking lack of will power Confused

So hopefully a virtual club will help me. I need to lose around 2 1/2 stone but I want to get my fitness up too.

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 12/02/2017 16:07

I'm going to attempt to cut the carbs too.

So the schedule calls for three times a week. I'm going out tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday, and I've found a bodyweight workout that I aim to do on at least one of the other days, if not two.

By April 17th, we should all be fitter!

OP posts:
MargotLovedTom1 · 12/02/2017 21:48

I want to be thinner - fitter would just be a nice side effect Wink.

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 12/02/2017 22:03

I've read in a few places that we may see a stall in weight loss due to a new exercise routine, so I need to take my measurements too

OP posts:
MargotLovedTom1 · 12/02/2017 23:27

I will too.

HoHumming · 12/02/2017 23:36

I'd like to join in too please. I plan to do my first jog/run on Tuesday evening and another on Thursday evening and then one at the weekend.

I have small kids so my days to run need to be planned or I will tell myself that I have to do x or y instead.

I did it two years ago and I toned up a bit. I am now at my heaviest (non pregnant) weight and desperately want to lose weight and get some way fit.

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 06:28

Good morning!

I'll be heading off in about an hour...if I survive, I will update. 😂😂

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 06:28

And HoHumming...the more the merrier!

DONE!!!

Things I've learned from w1d1...

Walking/running tortures works the back muscles.

Sports Direct sports bras are MINT!

Dry-heaving on the side of the road is NEVER a good look.

If you decide to do your run in your local area at 8am, you will arrive home to 37 whatsapps/texts/carrier pigeon messages along the lines of "saw you out jogging!"...either suck it up, don't give any of the school moms your contact details, choose a different route, or move.

And last but not least...

I can do this!

It WILL get easier!

I am so proud of myself!

MargotLovedTom1 · 13/02/2017 09:52

Well done!!! I am going out undercover of darkness precisely so I don't get seen Wink.

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 10:07

What are you doing food-wise? I'm combining lchf with 5:2. Today's RWC (run/walk/crawl) has inspired me to log all I intend to eat into mfp, and I've pressed the "complete this entry" so I stick to it! 😂

OP posts:
LurkingQuietly · 13/02/2017 12:28

Well done!! You did it!

I have woken with the cold from hell and can't breathe properly as I'm walking, let alone running, so my first run will be middle/end of the week I think.

Bask in that post run fee good haze!

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 12:55

Lurking poor you! Plenty of rest...

OP posts:
MargotLovedTom1 · 13/02/2017 13:25

Sad Lurking.

Food wise I'm going to focus on cutting out the three Bs: Booze, Biscuits and Bread Wink. Have to incorporate some prunes or something as I'll get awfully bunged up if I'm eating a lot of protein, and doing 5:2 also had the same effect!

What is LCHF? Is it low carb, high fat?

Ladyflip · 13/02/2017 13:41

I'm sneaking on to the thread to join you all. I started c25k (again) about a month ago and I'm dying on week 4. Well done Orange!

I'm creeping out of the house at 6am under cover of darkness to avoid the neighbours seeing me. I'm desperately trying to eat less/better, have cut out crisps cake and crap and am only drinking two nights a week. I still seem to have managed to put on weight over the weekend.

I am really enjoying the running though. I notice the NHS app no longer exists and its all in conjunction with the BBC so now i have the dulcet tones of Jo Whiley to guide me round. SOmetimes the app doesn't work brilliantly (cuts out my music, gives me the commentary but doesn't record that I have completed the run etc). Has anyone else noticed this and is it something I'd doing wrong?

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 14:26

Hi Ladyflip!

I've only used the app once, and it worked ok for me- but time will tell!

LCHF- Low Carb High Fat

OP posts:
MargotLovedTom1 · 13/02/2017 19:46

Ohhhhh it's too cold to go out! Sad Am I going to fall at the first hurdle? I've just had chicken and salad for tea so that's a plus point Wink.

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 13/02/2017 20:12

You can do this Margot

OP posts:
GreyandGrumpy48 · 13/02/2017 20:54

Can I join- downloaded the app months ago as I was intending to finish by Christmas but never actually went out on an attempt to run. Aiming to start tomorrow afternoon as I really need to do something to lose weight and get fitter.

Lepreporn · 13/02/2017 21:00

Hi can I just say stick with it. I'm on week 6 tomorrow. I literally couldn't run for a minute when I started.
Last Saturday. I ran for 25 mins. I'm in a c to 5 k running group. The wibbly wobbly wonders and I love it.
It's def worth sticking with.
