C25k anyone?

I'm starting tomorrow. And if a blimp like me can get further than day one, anyone can! 😂

I'm a pretty good walker. I can walk for miles. But I never tried running before

I'll be following a route I know, as running with a white cane may be a bit, um, hard...I want to run, not pole vault!

Anyone out there just started? About to start? Or just want to ask me whether I'm on glue for even attempting this?

I was doing 5k in the group though, but it was a killer, only to be attempted with slave driver as leader and lots of other people suffering along side you, it actually put me off slightly, as they were all so much better at it than me, and I never felt I could put my hand up and say HELP PLEASE WAIT. Much prefer nice short training running of 2-3km max, if that. The main thing is to get out in the first place

My running leader (when I was in the group Blush) said that the key was to run even if running was slower than walking (obviously interspersed with walking bits according to programme) because running uses different muscles than walking. It is not about speed at this stage at all, it is about building stamina in your muscles and breathing. She recommended slowing down to a mere stationary jog as better than giving up or walking whilst you are trying to complete the required minutes (whatever they are, for me it was preferably about 5 mins at the start, rising to max 10 mins)

It was so hard at the beginning (I started in Jan but have been quite on off about it) - I am truly amazed I can run what I ran this evening and not feel like I was going to collapse. Your muscles really do learn to run!!! I don't run very far yet though - possibly 1.5k? I am now feeling a righteous glow that has lasted since I came back at 6pm

I've just done my first run of week one! I'm feeling really proud of myself. I found it quite hard though

After a long gap, I managed to run for 10 minutes today, and then a short walk, and then another 4 minutes run home. Very pleased with myself. Last time I ran that way, I couldn't manage further than 7 minutes.

Will try again tomorrow, it is so easy to give up isn't it and stop running?

Did W2R2 this morning and neither of us were feeling very energetic but we made it through. I'm somewhat dreading week 3...

Hello runners! My legs felt a bit achy after Saturday's efforts, I had planned to go again on Monday but I have got a cold so I thought better of it. Still motivated to start again when it shifts and I can actually breathe !!

Just checking in here. I started last week so this evening did week 2 run 1. I enjoyed running in the rain. I'm dreadfully slow. I wonder is there any way of picking up a barely faster than walking speed?

Hi flickyones - thanks for the suggestion. We've been doing a large circular run, so I don't think we can do our own thing entirely. That and the fact that I'm the timekeeper, so DS needs to be within shouting distance. Guess I'm just going to have to get faster!

We did W1R3 today in miserable weather - high winds and rain. I reckon anything will seem pleasant after that.

Hello all, this thread is great! I went for w1 r1 today, after a bit of a failed attempt yesterday.
Not sure about pacing but my partner and I run in laps of a field. He goes much faster than me but I'm not left behind. It'll do until I feel fit/confident enough to go on the street and do it.

DS and I have done W1R2 now, and there seems to be a bit of a problem with pacing - his running is faster than mine and my walking is faster than his. Any tips on how to manage this?

Can I join! I want to lose a stone but I do a lot of home work outs but I think running will help! I can walk for hours but running outside is a. Real struggle, even though I can run on a treadmill!

I've got w5 r3 on Wednesday and I don't feel ready.

Is it possible?

Hi can I join in? I've just done the first run of week 1 yesterday with DS (age 14) and we both could do with the encouragement. We're planning to go out for W1R2 tomorrow - hopefully neither of us will bottle!

I did my third 'run' of my first week this morning. 3K in half an hour. Sounds terrible. I had no interest going out and not much when out doing it either. Now that I am home, I am really happy I went out.

Hello all,
May I join you? I did my first c25 today, was harder than I thought! I am trying to lose weight and get a bit healthier all round, would like to lose about 1.5 stone, also using mfp and generally trying to cut down the bad and up the good! Inspired by how well everyone is doing on here, I cannot imagine running for a full 25 mins ever after today!! But I will keep going as I feel a bit ashamed that I am so unfit!

Oh well done! I came on here to log yesterday's WRC, but ended up kicking off on one of the MLM threads instead Blush

Just logging here as I went on my second jog/walk last night. In total I did about 4K I think. I'm very slow and I remember jogging before and my sister told me it must take more energy to run as slowly as I do as it was unnaturally slow!

ladyflip the app was doing the same for me too. Not sure what happened! And I haven't managed to get out since last Thursday 🙈 Small chops and baby chops both had the cold and passed it to me which brought on a 3 day migraine 🙄 Aiming to go tomorrow morning!
